If the season opened tomorrow the Buffalo Bills’ starting linebacker corps would be free-agent addition Kawika Mitchell on the weak side, Paul Posluszny in the middle and Angelo Crowell on the strong side, according to Pro Football Weekly. Don’t forget about Keith Ellison and John DiGiorgio, who both gained the confidence of the coaches last season, and will see significant minutes as well.

Linebacker Kawika Mitchell reached an agreement with the Buffalo Bills on Friday, cashing in on the first day of NFL free agency, according to CBS Sports. The five-year veteran started all 16 games for the New York Giants last season after being the team's only notable free-agent addition a year ago. He finished with 87 tackles, 3.5 sacks and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown against the Bills. The Bills confirmed that a verbal agreement had been reached, but provided no further details. Mitchell bolsters a young and injury-depleted linebacker corps in Buffalo. He is expected to round out a starting unit of returning veteran Angelo Crowell and second-round draft pick Paul Posluszny, who missed the final 13 games of his rookie season after breaking his forearm.

The undisclosed deal is said to be a middle-of-the-road offer, so Mitchell could test the open market.
