December 20, 2008
Cowboys inactives: 3QB Brooks Bollinger, CB Alan Ball, S Courtney Brown, RB Alonzo Coleman, LB Bobby Carpenter, OG Montrae Holland, OG Joe Berger, WR Isaiah Stanback.

Our View:Marion Barber is going to tough it out and play, but he still may be a bit risky if he aggravates his toe again.
December 7, 2008
Week 14 inactives: QB Brooks Bollinger (3rd), WR Miles Austin, RB Marion Barber, CB Courtney Brown, CB Mike Jenkins, LB Steve Octavien, G Joe Berger, OT Doug Free.

Our View:We already knew Barber would be out, and Tashard Choice will start in his place. DeMarcus Ware and Roy Williams are both active.
November 16, 2008
Week 11 inactives: Brooks Bollinger, RB Felix Jones, DB Quincy Butler, LB Bobby Carpenter, G Montrae Holland, G Joe Berger, OT Doug Free, WR Isaiah Stanback.

Our View:Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Terence Newman are all playing, as expected.
November 3, 2008
ESPN is reporting that Brooks Bollinger has surpassed Brad Johnson as the Cowboys' No. 2 quarterback.

Our View:The move is nearly irrelevant now as Tony Romo will likely take over at quarterback in Week 11 after the Cowboys' bye. Bollinger is 9-for-16 this season with a touchdown and an interception.
November 2, 2008
Brooks Bollinger was fairly solid after entering the game against the Giantsin the second half. Bollinger went nine for sixteen with one touchdown and interception each. He passed for a total of 63 yards in this stretch.

Our View:Bollinger might be the Cowboys' starter in their next game, as faith in Brad Johnson was waning even before Sunday's meltdown. The Cowboys have a bye next week, and are hoping that starter Tony Romo can return then, which still could leave Bollinger as the backup.
November 2, 2008
Brooks Bollinger has been called into action in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Giants. Brad Johnson got the hook after throwing two interceptions over 11 passes.

Our View:We will keep you updated on Bollinger's performance following the game.
November 2, 2008
Brooks Bollinger is standing by in case Brad Johnson continues to struggle today in a key NFC East showdown with the Giants, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View:Johnson has failed to stretch the field due to a declining arm, and Bollinger would be an considerable upgrade, and his mobility would come in handy while dealing with a relentless Giants' pass rush.
October 27, 2008
Peter King of Sports Illustrated commented that he would be surprised if Brooks Bollinger doesn't see some action in next Sunday's game against the defending champion Giants.

Our View:Aging gunslinger Brad Johnson has little ammo left in his arm, and his inability to get the ball downfield is stifling the Cowboys' passing attack, namely Terrell Owens. Bollinger is far from a solid option, but would be viewed as an upgrade over Johnson if called into action.
October 5, 2008
Week 5 inactives: QB Brooks Bollinger (3rd), S Pat Watkins, S Roy Williams, CB Terence Newman, G Kyle Kosier, DE Stephen Bowen, WR Isaiah Stanback.

Our View:The Cowboys are missing three starters in Newman, Williams and Kosier. Their secondary could once again be easy pickings, provided the Bengals are up to the challenge.
September 28, 2008
Week 4 inactives: QB Brooks Bollinger (3rd), CB Alan Ball, FB Deon Anderson, SS Roy Williams, G Kyle Kosier, G Joe Berger, OT Doug Free, and WR Isaiah Stanback.

Our View:As expected, both Jason Witten (shoulder) and Sam Hurd (ankle) are active.
September 15, 2008
Week 2 inactives: QB Brooks Bollinger, WR Sam Hurd, CB Alan Ball, CB Courtney Brown, G Kyle Kosier, G Montrae Holland, OT Doug Free, and DE Stephen Bowen.

Our View:As reported earlier, Terence Newman (groin) and Anthony Spencer (knee) are active and will be able to help out the Cowboys defense against the Eagles. On the other side of the ball, receiver Miles Austin (knee) returns to action. He is not of interest to fantasy leagues, though.
September 8, 2008
As expected, Brooks Bollinger has signed with the Cowboys, according to the Dallas Morning News. Receiver Mike Jefferson will be released to make room on the 53-man roster. Bollinger will receive $569,411 for the rest of the season as the prorated portion of the veteran minimum for a sixth-year player ($605,000).

Our View:Bollinger will serve as the No. 3 quarterback behind Tony Romo and Brad Johnson, and holds no fantasy value.
September 8, 2008
Brooks Bollinger is expected to sign with the Cowboys today, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Bollinger will serve as the No. 3 quarterback. He will provide good depth, but will hold no fantasy value barring injuries.
September 1, 2008
Quarterback Brooks Bollinger will likely be signed by the Dallas Cowboys after their Week 1 game against the Browns, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:The reason Bollinger will probably be put on the roster after Week 1 is that the Cowboys would not have to pay him a full salary if they release him at some point in the season. He will be the third string quarterback in Dallas.
August 31, 2008
The Cowboys are interested in signing quarterback Brooks Bollinger, sources tell the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Bollinger was released by the Vikings on Saturday.

Our View:Bollinger would be reunited with Brad Johnson (Vikings, 2006), and the two would battle for Tony Romo's table scraps. And by that we mean playing time, not women.
August 30, 2008
John David Booty has beaten out Brooks Bollinger in the battle to be the Vikings’ third-string quarterback, leading the Vikes to release Bollinger as part of their final roster cuts for this season, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:Chip Scoggins of the Star-Tribune reports that Booty will be on the team and Bollinger will be released when the Vikings make their 53-man roster official.
August 28, 2008
Brooks Bollinger completed only six of 18 passes for 62 yards as John David Booty, the other quarterback he is battling to serve as the emergency quarterback, went 8-for-15 for 93 yards playing the entire first half.

Our View:Jackson should be ready for Week 1, as should backup Gus Frerotte, so whomever claims the third spot at this point is fantasy irrelevant.
