Arnaz Battle, Ahmad Brooks, Barry Sims, Cody Wallace, Dashon Goldson, Jamie Martin, Reggie Smith, and Sean Ryan will be inactive for the 49ers for Monday night's game against Arizona.

Our View:Battle has a sprained foot and Jason Hill will take over the third receiver role.
November 6, 2008
Arnaz Battle has been ruled out for Week 10 due to his foot injury, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Our View:He is dealing with a sprain, which will afford more playing time for rookie Josh Morgan, Jason Hill and Bryant Johnson. It remains to be seen if Morgan or Johnson will start Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Wide receiver Arnaz Battle led the 49ers with seven catches for 120 yards in the Week 4 loss to the Saints.

Our View:Battle took advantage of an injury to Bryant Johnson and the 49ers playing from behind all day. Fantasy owners should not expect Arnaz to have more days like this.
August 26, 2008
Arnaz Battle returned to practice Monday after dealing with a strained hamstring, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Battle is likely going to serve as the No. 3 receiver this season. Josh Morgan and Bryant Johnson are the top candidates for the starting job at split end.
August 13, 2008
Arnaz Battle strained his hamstring during practice Tuesday, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:The team did not disclose the severity of the ailment. Projected starter Bryant Johnson is also still out due to his hamstring ailment.
July 24, 2008
Arnaz Battle has reported to the 49ers for training camp, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Our View:Battle will compete with Ashley Lelie and Jason Hill for the number three role out of the slot alongside starters Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson. If he wins the job, Battle could post favorable numbers with new offensive coordinator Mike Martz at the controls of the 49ers' offense.
June 9, 2008
Arnaz Battle reported to the 49ers OTA on Monday, as expected, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Our View:He missed the first week of voluntary workouts (due to personal reasons), but the veteran still has plenty of time to learn Mike Martz's new offense before the new season kicks off in September. He is projected to be the number three receiver in the slot role behind starters Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson.
June 4, 2008
Arnaz Battle said that he promises to attend the 49ers' next round of off-season workouts, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. He confirmed that he missed this week's OTA due to personal reasons.

Our View:Battle has been reduced to the number three receiver role following the addition of new projected starters Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson, but Battle could still see plenty of passes thrown his way, while under the direction of offensive coordinator Mike Martz. Battle racked up 50 receptions for 600 yards on a poor 49ers' offense in 2007, and could rank as a solid sleeper for 2008.
June 4, 2008
Arnaz Battle is skipping team OTA sessions, and it is believed that he is displeased with his role in the offense, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:He spent two-and-a-half seasons as a starter with the 49ers, and isn't happy about being reduced to the slot role. Bryant Johnson and Isaac Bruce are currently working as the starters. The offense is now under the direction of offensive coordinator Mike Martz, and Battle should embrace the slot role, as he would see plenty of action. He racked up 50 receptions for 600 yards on a poor 49ers' offense in 2007, and could rank as a solid sleeper for 2008, if he just accepts his slot role, and gives a top effort.
May 10, 2008
Arnaz Battle is among the top three receivers for the 49ers during practice, according to the Sacramento Bee. Isaac Bruce (formerly of the Rams) and Bryant Johnson (formerly of the Cardinals) round out the trio. Ashley Lelie is being featured in four receiver sets.

Our View:The passing game struggled and lacked an identity in 2007, but Battle still had a productive campaign as he hauled in 50 balls for 600 yards and five scores. He should see more action this season with offensive guru Mike Martz leading the way, and could ultimately rank as a sleeper for 2008.
