Cardinals center Al Johnson told the Arizona Republic that the Cardinals released him from injured reserve Tuesday, and he plans to file a grievance disputing the team's contention that he has recovered from his knee problems.

Our View:Johnson underwent two knee surgeries in the off-season. The center was placed on IR shortly before the start of the season after he and team officials could not agree upon a cut in his base pay of $3.5 million.

The AP reports that Arizona Cardinals' center Al Johnson will miss the entire year coming off of knee surgery. Replacing the 29-year-old Johnson on the roster is center Pat Ross, who was elevated from the practice squad. Ross was claimed by the Cardinals on waivers from Carolina on August 1. He spent training camp with the team and was released last Saturday and re-signed to the practice squad on Monday.

Our View:This is not good news for owners who have invested in the Cardinals' skill position players. Look for a shaky play from this offensive line unit and an inevitable injury to veteran quarterback Kurt Warner.

Al Johnson won't be ready in time to start the season on Sept. 7, according to the East Valley Tribune. He's recovering from knee surgery.

Our View:Undrafted second-year player Lyle Sendlein will start in Johnson's place.

Al Johnson, the starting center for the Arizona Cardinals, underwent surgery on his left knee for the second time this summer, according to the Arizona Republic. He may not be ready for the regular season opener.

Our View:The Cardinals are hurting at center with Johnson on the mend and reserve Scott Peters out for the year. Arizona had serious problems a few years ago when their offensive line went down, so they can only hope Johnson makes it back sooner rather than later.

There is concern in Arizona as the leader on the offensive line, veteran Al Johnson , has been sent back to team headquarters after getting fluid drained from his surgically-repaired knee, according to SBNation.

Our View:This is the second time Johnson has found a needle in the knee since camp opened, and that's a concern. Worries of an injury that may never get better are sure to set in, but the team expects to rest Johnson for the remainder of camp and believes he will be good to go for the regular season. Meanwhile, backup Kyle Sendlein will get work with the first unit, a future the team envisioned when he was drafted. He may be jumping towards the future now.
