Roy Williams commented on the rumor of a possible trade to the Dallas Cowboys, according to The Star-Telegram. Williams said, "Of course I want to stay in Detroit. Everybody wants to stay with the team that drafted them. They are telling me I am going to be a Lion for at least one more season. That's what I have on my mind. What are they going to do with me? Could they pay me? Yes. Will they pay me? That's the question that needs to be answered. If I get franchised, I get franchised. If they want to go in another direction, that is part of the business." A source close to Williams said that he wants to play for the Cowboys if he isn't in Detroit, but Williams noted "Man, you know I can't answer that question." Williams and Terrell Owens would make an exceptional receiving tandem for Tony Romo if this rumor proves true.

David Garrard has inked a long-term deal with the Jaguars, the AP reports. Terms were not disclosed, but the contract could be similar to the six-year, $67.5 million deal inked by Tony Romo last year. Garrard came on strong as a fantasy player over the second half of last season, and the Jags added receiver help this offseason. His potential is limited by the Jags strong running game, but he will enter 2008 as a top-20 option at his position.

Jessica Simpson's mother claims her daughter has secretly married, according to the Arizona Republic. As Simpson and her mother Tina were leaving Chili's restaurant in Los Angeles earlier this week, Tina revealed that her 27-year-old daughter has secretly wed. Asked if Simpson was planning to marry football star Tony Romo, whom she had been dating since last November, Tina laughed and responded to the inquiry, "Jessica is already married to Tony. What are you talking about?" Please say it ain't so Tony! This sounds like a joke or a very bad publicity stunt to us.
