Receiver Roy Williams will start for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and Patrick Crayton will move to the No. 3 role, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Williams has had a very slow year, with just 20 catches for 270 yards and two scores. Hopefully with Tony Romo back under center, he can start to live up to that big contract he signed.

Roy Williams has worked with several quarterbacks during his time with Detroit due to instability at the position, and he is pleased to be playing with franchise star Tony Romo, according to the Dallas Morning News. Williams said, "I'm glad to be in a place where there's some stability there. That makes a big difference."

Our View:Williams and Romo are both signed with Dallas through 2013. Williams may play in his first live game with Romo this weekend, as he has a chance to return from his broken pinkie. Williams could post favorable numbers down the stretch, and is worth dealing for if you can land him for a good price.

Our View:Owner Jerry Jones' shiny new toy is being slowly integrated into the offensive game plan. Williams will likely be an inconsistent option for the next few weeks until he becomes more comfortable in the scheme.

He said, "It’s going to take me 2-3 weeks to know the whole playbook and I don’t even know if this is the whole playbook or not. Hopefully by the bye week, I will be comfortable."

Our View:Perhaps he will feel comfortable and ready to make an impact around the same time Tony Romo returns from his finger injury. Williams is worth trading for if the price is right, as he could have a solid stretch run while working opposite Terrell Owens.

Roy Williams officially signed his five-year, $45 million contract with the Cowboys Saturday, according to the Dallas Morning News. Williams will receive $27 million guaranteed over the life of the contract.

Our View:By signing Saturday, the Cowboys can lower Williams' base salary over the remaining 10 games. As previously stated, he is expected to see 15-20 snaps in his Dallas debut today against St. Louis.

Our View:He has studied his new playbook extensively since being acquired by the team, and he said the Cowboys' passing game uses a number system similar to the one in Detroit, so he doesn't think the transition will be too difficult. It remains uncertain how many reps he will get and Brad Johnson will be making his first start of 2008 in place of the injured Tony Romo, but Williams will still merit fantasy consideration against the Rams' 25th ranked pass defense.

Our View:This is a great deal for Williams, considering he has only topped 1,000 receiving yards once in his career, and has struggled with consistency, namely dropped passes.

The Cowboys haven't officially signed Roy Williams to a contract extension yet, according to the Dallas Morning News. They have merely agreed to the parameters of a deal, though, and it should be finalized soon. Todd Archer of the Press speculates that Williams will get around $9 million annually.

Our View:Owner Jerry Jones gave the impression that the deal was already done, but apparently that's not the case. However, it looks like it's just a matter of dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

Our View:Williams give the Cowboys a legitimate threat opposite Terrell Owens. His fantasy value will go up once Tony Romo returns.

Our View:Williams will provide the Cowboys with an excellent complement to Terrell Owens, and his fantasy value goes up while leaving the struggling Lions' offense. Williams could have a big second half when he gets comfortable within the new offense, and when Tony Romo returns from his finger injury.

Our View:The Cowboys reportedly didn't offer enough, as the Lions said they are looking for a first-round pick in exchange for Williams. Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones previously stated that he was not going to pursue Williams. The Lions continue to work the phones for a suitor for Williams, with the 4 p.m (Eastern Time) trade deadline approaching.

Our View:The 49ers could use a true No. 1 receiver of Williams' caliber, and coordinator Mike Martz has a connection with him during his stint in Detroit, but they are reportedly not interested. The Lions will have to find another potential trade partner to unload Williams, prior to Tuesday's deadline.

Our View:Jones also indicated that he will not deal for any receiver prior to the October 14 trade deadline. Williams would benefit from more single coverage while operating opposite Terrell Owens in Dallas' efficient passing offense, but Jones has shot down the idea.

Our View:The Lions have reportedly contacted five undisclosed teams and are seeking two first-round picks for the services of Williams, who is in the final year of his contract. The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 14, which still leaves a week to get a deal done, however, we doubt anyone is going to pony up two first-round picks for Williams.

When asked if Sunday's game against Chicago could be his last at Ford Field, Williams answered, "You know what, I never thought about that until you just said it. But I don't think this will be my last home game here at Ford Field. Hope it's not. You never know. Somebody has to make a business decision."

Our View:The NFL trade deadline is 4 p.m. on October 14, and the Lions' next home game is October 26. His focus is to play for the Lions the next 13 weeks, and sounds like he would like to remain with the club, despite an 0-3 record.

Our View:The Lions will still take calls on their wideout, and if they get a good offer before the trade deadline on October 14, they should think long and hard about pulling the trigger. Williams has been a disappointment for fantasy owners this season, with a measly eight receptions for 113 yards and one touchdown in three games.

The Lions suffered another brutal loss to the 49ers Sunday, and Roy Williams is calling for changes, according to the Detroit Free Press. He wants the team to feature four-receiver sets more often and said, "When we need it, we go down and score in four wides. It's tough, because it puts a lot of pressure on our offensive line. But if we can run out of there, like we did today, that makes it hard on the defense."

Our View:Williams clearly misses Mike Martz running the Lions' offense, as he only registered eight catches for 113 yards and one score over the first three weeks of the season. The Lions have a bye in Week 4 to work on their offense.

Wide receiver Roy Williams is not happy. The Lions are 0-2, and he wants more balls thrown his way. "I feel that if I'm not involved in the game and we lose, I'm (ticked) off," Williams tells the Detroit Free Press. "But if I'm not involved and we win, hey, it's a great job. And I've been like that since I've been here. I just feel like I can make some plays as well... Three balls a week, that's not going to cut it." Williams notes that he had only five passes come his way in Week 1 and six attempts to his side in Week 2. "In Mike Martz's system, I would have had at least 10 to 12 balls come my way," he adds. "I just think I'm in a different role right now. I really think I'm a role player right now."

Our View:Despite their public commitment to the run, the Lions have thrown it 78 times through two games. Only the Colts have chucked it more. Given that stat and the team's record, one might see why Williams is starting to speak up. Calvin Johnson looks like the clear superstar of this duo, and we won't be at all surprised if Roy ends up in a new uniform after this year.

Our View:The Lions offensive line looked horrible today, which means the Lions could lean on the passing game early in the season. With less multiple receiver sets, Williams has a chance to be a fantasy stud this year, if he can stay healthy.

Former offensive line coach Jim Colletto was promoted to offensive coordinator in place of the departed Mike Martz, and it's important to note that the changes in Detroit will be drastic. The playbook will be cut by 50 percent and the running game, not the aerial attack, will be the focus. This will affect the number of targets that No. 1 wide out Roy Williams will garner.

Our View:Colletto will keep some of Martz's three receiver passing scheme in his playbook, but lining up to pass the ball on first down and neglecting the run game won't be the M.O. of the ex-offensive lineman. Williams should be considered a fringe starter in traditional formats.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Roy Williams does not want to be part of the group of NFL receivers who are making threats and demands because of unhappiness with their contracts, and vows to report to training camp on time, according to the Detroit News. "Don't put me in that mix," Williams said Thursday. "I'm a different type of guy. I don't want to be the guy who has a problem. I do what I'm told. I've always cooperated with the Lions, done my part trying to help this team win. I'll continue to do that."

Our View:Williams has been the subject of several offseason trade rumors, and the 2008 season is the last year on his current contract. He will make a total of $5.8 million in base salary and bonuses. In the day and age of diva receivers, it’s nice to hear that Williams will honor his contract and report to work.

But then I listened to Coach Rod Marinelli saying I wasn’t going nowhere, so that reassured me that I wasn’t going anywhere. Marinelli just called me one time in March. He said, ‘It’s done. You’re not going nowhere. I don’t think it was zero percent chance I wasn’t going anywhere. I think if somebody would have come with something that could have benefited the Lions, I think I would have been out of here. I don’t think I’m gone next year, either. I think they’re going to slap me (with franchise tag). I think this place can win, man. I don’t know what’s the problem, what’s been the problem. We got a little taste of it last year at 6-2. But that was last year, man. People are asking, ‘Can we learn from that?’ No, we can’t learn from that. That was a whole different ballclub last year."

Our View:Williams also said that he believes the Lions might apply the franchise tag to him in 2009, to prevent him from leaving via free agency. If he stays in Detroit, he and Calvin Johnson will be the most dynamic receiving tandem in the NFC.

Everybody wants to stay with the team that drafted them. They are telling me I am going to be a Lion for at least one more season. That's what I have on my mind. What are they going to do with me? Could they pay me? Yes. Will they pay me? That's the question that needs to be answered. If I get franchised, I get franchised. If they want to go in another direction, that is part of the business." A source close to Williams said that he wants to play for the Cowboys if he isn't in Detroit, but Williams noted "Man, you know I can't answer that question." Despite rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have displayed strong interest in Detroit receiver Roy Williams, the chances are very slim he will be traded, according to mlive.com. The rumors continue to circulate because Williams has only one year remaining on his salary cap friendly contract, which would make it breeze if the organization wanted to trade him. The Lions certainly entertained thoughts of trading Williams not too long ago, and the rumors could increase during the offseason, but the odds of it actually happening appear to be slim to none.

Detroit Lions HC Rod Marinelli reiterated his stance that the organization will not trade WR Roy Williams during the offseason, according to freep.com. Marinelli feels that Williams and second-year player Calvin Johnson could be a dynamic duo in the passing game. "I know the rumors are out there, but no," Marinelli said. "Those two guys together, I want to see those guys where they can really impact the game." So Marinelli doesn't see a scenario in which Williams leaves the Lions? "I don't," Marinelli said. "I'm very confident he's here. Very confident." Williams, 26, is a four-year veteran, who has started 51 games and scored 28 touchdowns during his career for Detroit. The rumors are certainly in the air, but it appears the organization has plans to retain his services for the immediate future.

The Lions admit they will entertain trade offers for Williams but, according to MLive.com the Lions will only pull the trigger on a deal if it's over-the-top favorable for the organization.

It's been rumored that the Lions might want to move Roy Williams this offseason, but coach Rod Marinelli nixed that notion, according to the Detroit News. "We expect him to have a big year for us," Marinelli said. Williams missed the end of last season with a knee injury, which should heal without surgery. The departure of OC Mike Martz and development of Calvin Johnson could curb his fantasy production next season, but he should still be a big-time option.

Roy Williams ’ injured knee is feeling better. “I’m good,” Williams said in a Monday radio interview that was transcribed by the Detroit Free Press. “I’m real good. I think the media’s not 100 percent, but I felt like I could have played last week, maybe not a full game, but my presence could have been felt out there a little bit.” Williams finished the season on injured reserve with a sprained PCL in his right knee.

Our View:Williams probably would have played in Week 17 had the Lions still been alive in the playoff hunt. His injury should not be a factor heading into next season.
