Receiver Michael Clayton said he expected to start for Joey Galloway on Sunday, which did not please head coach Jon Gruden, according to the Tampa Tribune. "A couple players have already spoken that (Galloway is) not going (to play), but I'll make that decision, okay?I'll decide who starts, too. As long as I have the title here as head coach, I'll do that," said Gruden.

Our View:Clayton certainly did himself no favors by pronouncing himself the starter before Gruden did. Even if he does start, his fantasy prospects are slim, as they have been ever since his great rookie year.

Michael Clayton was inactive for Week 1, but is expected to start at flanker Sunday, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Joey Galloway is expected to miss the game with his right foot sprain. Clayton said, "It's a big opportunity. It's one that I've been waiting for. I've been told I will be starting, so we'll see what happens. There's a lot of opportunity for any wide receiver who will be out there."

Our View:Even though he is starting, he does not merit fantasy attention with a tough match-up at Chicago.

Michael Clayton is active today for the Bucs after being a healthy inactive in Week 1.

Our View:Clayton is taking the place of Maurice Stovall, who is out with a neck injury.

After being placed on the inactive list Week 1 against the Saints, Michael Clayton hopes to get on the field soon. In Week 1 the Bucs went with receivers Joey Galloway, Antonio Bryant, Maurice Stovall, Ike Hilliard and rookie Dexter Jackson, according to Pewterreport.com.

Our View:Michael Clayton burst onto the scene his rookie year but since then has battled injuries and inconsistent play. It sounds like the only way Clayton gets in the lineup is if one of the receivers ahead of him is injured.

The Tampa Tribune reports that Jon Gruden had plenty of good things to say about wide receiver Michael Clayton on Wednesday. "Well, we know he’s a very good player. What I’ve seen is five or six consecutive days where he’s put his fist down and said, ‘I’m a go-to receiver.’ If he continues to do that, he’s going to be a big part of this offense again. Hopefully he stays healthy and continues doing exactly what he’s doing. He’s focused, he’s all business and he’s running all kinds of routes. He’s running inside routes, outside routes, and he’s showing very good stamina. And we know he can run with the ball after the catch. So we like what he’s doing but we’ve got a long way to go.”

Our View:All Mike has to do to get in the starting lineup is beat out 64-year-old Ike Hilliard and Antonio Bryant who has not played since 2006. Clayton caught seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2004 but has managed just one more in the three seasons since then. Gruden may have been laying a heavy dose of coach speak on us or Clayton may have finally turned his ship around.
