Will Smith will almost certainly play in Week 9 despite the fact that his name surfaced in the latest NFL steroids bust, according to ESPN.

Our View:Smith was one of a group of 10 or more players who have apparently failed a drug test due to some medicine taken to lose weight (it can also be used to mask steroid use).

The New Orleans Saints have only three defensive ends on the roster, including Pro Bowler Will Smith, but if one of them gets hurt, the team is in big trouble, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:The defensive ends consistent of Smith, Charles Grant and Bobby McCray. They also have one on the practice squad in Josh Savage, but any team can sign him to their active roster at any point in the season. If one defensive end gets hurt early in a game, there will be trouble. And if two go down, the problems would be even bigger.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith has agreed to a six-year, $70 million contract extension, a source familiar with the matter told ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli on Tuesday.

Our View:Smith posted 66 tackles (47 solos), and 7 sacks last season for the Saints. In four seasons, all in New Orleans, Smith has 220 tackles and 33.5 sacks.

While he skipped the team's voluntary workouts in recent weeks, the Saints report defensive end Will Smith will in fact attend the team's mandatory minicamp this weekend, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Smith is attempting to renegotiate his contract with the Saints, set to earn a touch of $1 million this season. However, Smith indicates he has every intention of taking part in team practices while his agent and team management work things out.
