Chris Perry appreciates the opportunity to start for the Bengals, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He said, "It's football. I've done it before, wanted to do it for a while, but things happened. Now it's here, and I've got to take advantage of it. Nobody wants to be a backup. I don't know anybody here who wants to be a backup. Everybody wants to be a starter and perform well. Yeah, this is what I wanted." He added, "I'm just the starting running back for the Bengals on opening day. I don't think I'm any better than the guys behind me or anything like that; I'm still looking in my rear-view mirror. I still have motivation. I haven't done anything yet."

Our View:Perry is the best pass-catcher among the running backs on the Bengals' roster, and will get his first test to prove he deserves to be the starter this weekend at Baltimore.

Chris Perry carried the ball 12 times for 36 yards while adding four catches for 22 yards in the Bengals' preseason loss Saturday.

Our View:Perry's numbers aren't particularly good this preseason, but he has impressed his coaches enough that he's at the top of the depth chart with Rudi Johnson out.

Coach Marvin Lewis is praising Chris Perry, who would be the starting running back if the season started today, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Lewis said, "I do see Chris being very confident, and I think Chris feels like he's the starting running back and he feels good about that. Right now that's how we'd probably start the regular season. He feels good about it and he's exhibiting that on the practice field as well, not only in the games he's played but in the way he's practiced."

Our View:Rudi Johnson has been passed on the depth chart as he has been unable to practice and compete due to a hamstring ailment. Johnson still has time to reclaim his starting role, but will need to get in significant work in practice and play in at least one preseason game. If Perry does remain the starter for Week 1, he would hold solid value in PPR leagues.

Chris Perry looked extremely sharp on Monday night with 11 carries for 42 yards and a TD for the Bengals. Perry also pulled in two passes in the passing game for nine yards.

Our View:While many assume that Kenny Watson will be the back to target behind Rudi Johnson, there are plenty who see Perry as a potential option this season, especially in PPR formats.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that tailback Chris Perry made a fine showing Monday morning and again during the night practice. He is attempting to return from ankle and shin injuries that kept him out all of last season. "I've graduated from hungry and made it to greedy," he said of his desire to get back on the field. Another hurdle will come Tuesday when the players will wear full pads and have live contact.

Our View:We still need to see durability from Perry, who stands third on the depth chart behind Rudi Johnson and Kenny Watson. He provides solid depth for the Bengals but don't expect him to make a fantasy impact this season.
