The Texans would like Matt Schaub to get some snaps during the team’s final game, though primarily in a backup role. “I think it’s important he gets back out there,” head coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle. “Talking to the doctors and to [head trainer] Kevin [Basin], this isn’t something that he’s going to further injure. It’s not going to get any worse. From that standpoint, I feel comfortable, but at the same time, I have to feel comfortable that he can do the things he normally does and protect himself. I didn’t feel that way in the middle of last week. We’ll look at him in practice Wednesday and go from there.”

Matt Schaub took snaps with the scout team during Wednesday’s practice and hopes to serve as the backup to Sage Rosenfels on Sunday, according to the team's official web site.

Matt Schaub is contemplating offseason surgery on his dislocated left shoulder, but doctors have told him he can’t do any further damage and he hasn’t ruled out returning to action this season. “I’d love to get back out there, be on the field with my guys and play in the games and compete,” Schaub told the Houston Chronicle. “We’ll just make sure that when we do that, that I’ll be able to protect myself and not injure the shoulder any worse than it is.” Texans coach Gary Kubiak added that he hopes Schaub can serve as the backup to Sage Rosenfels this weekend.

Sage Rosenfels is officially the starter for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, as Matt Schaub has been listed as out with a dislocated shoulder. This will be Rosenfels’ third start this season, and they have also moved practice squad quarterback Shane Boyd into the number two role.

Matt Schaub may have played his last game of the season on Sunday. Matt Schaub left the field Sunday in intense pain with what seems to be an arm injury. Trainers were assisting him to the sidelines, and most likely to the locker room. Sage Rosenfels will take the snaps if Schaub is unable to return. Rosenfels absolutely burned the Titans in his last two meetings against them, so look for him to try to air it out. Schaub's return status is unknown at this point, and we will keep you updated with any new information.

Matt Schaub , held out of the Texans’ Week 9 win because of a concussion, practiced Tuesday and should return to the starting lineup when Houston comes off its bye week. “He took his reps, and he looked good,” head coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle. “We’ll just continue to monitor him day-to-day in making sure he looks like the guy that was out there playing before he went a couple of weeks taking those shots. Today was a step in the right direction.”
November 6, 2007
Matt Schaub told the Houston Chronicle he is “definitely confident” he’ll be back in the starting lineup following the Texans’ Week 10 bye. However, head coach Gary Kubiak has not yet fully committed to returning Schaub to action.

With Matt Schaub battling headaches stemming from the concussion that knocked him out of the Texans’ week eight loss to San Diego, the Houston Chronicle indicates that Sage Rosenfels is expected to start this Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Schaub has exited each of the past three games prematurely, though the concussion is the most serious of the injuries he has suffered.

Matt Schaub was knocked out of Sunday's game twice; the quarterback returned from a first-quarter ankle injury in the second quarter only to exit for good with a hip and lower-back injury. "I'll tell you what: Matt is just beat up," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "He's having an MRI. We're concerned about his hip. But just in general, Matt's beat up." X-rays on his ankle came back negative, but it sounds like the results of the MRI could determine the likelihood of whether he'll be able to suit up for Week 8 versus the Chargers.

The Falcons have agreed to trade Matt Schaub to the Texans, according to ESPN.com. The two teams will swap first-round picks in this year's draft, and Atlanta will receive Houston's second-round picks in 2007 and 2008. Schaub's arrival in Houston likely signals the end of David Carr's days as a starter.
February 21, 2007
Matt Schaub is sure to draw some trade interest again this offseason, but the Falcons plan to place a one-year contract tender on him, possibly in excess of $2 million, as well as a compensation attachment of a first and/or third-round draft pick, which could discourage some teams from trying to acquire him, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. However, even though the Falcons would love to keep Schaub as Michael Vick's backup, they don't want to lose him for nothing after the 2007 season when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
