After Kurt Warner left with a knee injury and Josh McCown succumbed to an illness, John Navarre took over at quarterback for the Cardinals on Sunday. Navarre completed 14-of-24 passes for 174 yards with one touchdown and one INT. Presumably, McCown will be able to start next week since Warner is out for the season.

While Cardinals coach Dennis Green stopped short of dubbing rookie John Navarre Sunday's starter after a rough first outing yesterday, it appears Navarre will get another start, according to the Arizona Republic. "Everybody's had a chance and this is John's chance," Green said. "I would imagine John would start next week against San Francisco. And hopefully he can play better than he did today."

John Navarre will miss 2-to-3 weeks of action with a broken right ring finger. Navarre suffered the injury Sunday when his hand was hit by a pass rusher as he was releasing a throw. Josh McCown will once again start for the Cardinals.
December 5, 2004
John Navarre got off to a decent start in his NFL debut but was abyssmal in the second half. Navarre completed just 18-of-40 passes for 168 yards, with one touchdown and four interceptions. It's possible that the Cardinals will go back to Josh McCown next week.
November 29, 2004
Cardinals coach Dennis Green announced at his press conference Monday that rookie John Navarre will start at quarterback this Sunday. It took only a game and a half for Green to tire of Shaun King, and he apparently isn't ready to give Josh McCown another chance.
