He said, "I'm ready to get the surgery in and get it back strong and back on the field. I mean, it's going to affect it whatever. But everything happens for a reason. I am just looking forward to getting the surgery."

Our View:He was expected to be among the top free agent guards in the off-season prior to getting hurt. Dennis Roland will replace him in the starting lineup Sunday against the Chiefs.

Our View:Dennis Roland will start in his place in the season finale. The Bengals will likely have to address the loss of Andrews in the offseason as it is unlikely he will be ready for the start of next season.

Andrews, who is an intimidating presence at 6-7, 342 pounds, can play both tackle and guard. He has displayed striking athleticism for a man his size, and if he continues to improve, will draw significant attention on the free agent market after the 2008 season.

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that offensive tackle Stacy Andrews has signed his franchise tender, according to Pro Football Talk. “We’re happy Stacy is signed in advance of our offseason work,” coach Marvin Lewis said, “and this does not preclude our continuing to talk to Stacy and his representatives about reaching a longer-term agreement.” Andrews is now under contract with the Bengals through 2008, and his one-year salary of $7.455 million is fully guaranteed.
