Dontarrious Thomas signed with the Vikings on Monday, but he may start at middle linebacker right away, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:Thomas is worth scooping up off the waiver wire in IDP leagues, if Thomas ultimately starts in the middle, beginning this weekend at Chicago. David Herron, who is dealing with "several injuries," would push him for playing time when he returns to action.

Dontarrious Thomas has inked with the Vikings, according to the Star Tribune. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. This is Thomas' second stint with the Vikings, as he served with the club from 2004-07.

Our View:The Vikings are gravely hurting at linebacker right now with star EJ Henderson (foot) out for the season, and with his replacement, David Herron, sustaining several injuries Sunday. Coach Brad Childress said Thomas should be able to play Sunday at Chicago, but added that it’s unclear whether Thomas will play strictly in the middle or rotate between all three spots like he did during his first stint with the team. He is worth a look as a flier in IDP leagues.

Dontarrious Thomas has been moved from the "Ted" to the "Mike" spot amongst the inside linebackers, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat notes. He will be behind Patrick Willis on the depth chart.

Our View:Thomas was thought to be in the mix for a starting job at the less-glorious Ted spot, but apparently that is no longer the case. He will have no IDP value. However, Thomas would step into a very productive spot if Willis suffered an injury.

The San Francisco 49ers are currently giving an edge to free-agent addition Dontarrious Thomas over Brandon Moore for the strong-side inside linebacker job that previously belonged to the departed Derek Smith, according to Pro Football Weekly. Thomas will have to earn the job, as Moore actually has the edge in experience in the 3-4 defensive scheme.

The San Francisco 49ers recently signed linebacker Dontarrious Thomas to a two-year contract, and he’s expected to start at inside linebacker, alongside Patrick Willis, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Thomas spent the first four years of his career with Minnesota after being drafted out of Auburn in the second round in 2004. With the Vikings, Thomas played in 59 games (10 starts) and recorded 145 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
