Shaun Phillips strained his groin during Sunday's game against Denver, according to the North County Times.

Our View:The team is yet to disclose the severity of the ailment. The Chargers cannot afford to lose Phillips as they are also without anchor Shawne Merriman.

Shaun Phillips is limping with what is being deemed as a bruised right foot, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He said, "It just got stepped on and swelled up some. It's nothing much. I'll be fine, good to go."

Our View:Phillips only registered 68 tackles last season, but holds solid value in IDP leagues that put a premium scoring on sacks, as he racked up 8.5, to go along with three forced fumbles and two interceptions.

The Chargers signed Shaun Phillips to a six-year deal on Tuesday, according to the Sports Network. Terms of the deal were not released. "Shaun is an integral part of our defense," said general manager A.J. Smith. "He is a great pass rusher and last year he solidified his talents as an outstanding player against both the run and the pass. His play and his production speak for themselves. He made a lot of big plays for us last year that helped us win football games, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to watch him continue to do that over the years to come." Phillips recorded 11.5 sacks in 2006.

Shaun Phillips sat out Thursday's practice but should be back Friday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. He's dealing with a sore calf.

Shaun Phillips aggravated his calf injury during the second quarter Sunday, but the injury felt better than anticipated on Monday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He also finished Sunday's game playing with a broken finger.
