Justin Smiley will shed the cast from his broken right leg Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:He will then advance to a protective walking boot. He will also undergo a clean-up operation to his right shoulder that he believes will allow him to play pain-free next season.

Left guard Justin Smiley confirmed he broke his right leg during the first half of the game against St. Louis and is out for the season, according to the Miami Herald. "It's a bummer," Smiley said. "It's kind of depressing. I'm happy the offensive line pulled together but obviously I'm not too happy about my situation."

Our View:Smiley is expected to be placed on injured reserve. This is the second consecutive season he finishes the year on injured reserve, having been placed on the list last year with a shoulder injury.

Dolphins left guard Justin Smiley was held out of practice with a sore left shoulder as a precaution, according to the Dolphins official web site.

Our View:Head coach Tony Sparano said he expected Smiley to be back on the practice field tomorrow.

The Miami Dolphins have reached a five-year, $25 million deal with former San Francisco offensive guard Justin Smiley including $9 million in guaranteed money, according to ESPN. The Dolphins fire the first shot in free agency and the rebuilding has begun. Smiley, who landed on injured reserve last year, is rehabbing a shoulder injury that required surgery, but started 40 games for San Francisco during the past three seasons.
