Our View:He was placed on the IR after failing to bounce back from a back ailment. He was not competing for a starting job, so his loss is minimal to the Giants.

Shane Olivea has been placed on the IR due to his ailing back, according to the Star-Ledger. He hurt his back early in camp following one of his strongest practices. The team was hopeful he was improving but he never returned to the field.

Our View:Olivea was released by the Chargers after a bout with painkillers affected him on and off the field. Olivea is expected to be released with an injury settlement by the Giants once he gets healthy.

Shane Olivea admitted that he was addicted to painkillers last season, which is why he spent time at the Betty Ford Clinic, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Olivea said his family noticed changes in his behavior and subsequently intervened. He had a previous four-game suspension dropped and is starting over in New York. He is currently playing with the third-team, but he is just 26 and talented, so don't be surprised if he moves up the depth chart.

Our View:Looks like Olivea will get a second chance in New York, lets hope his partying days are behind him.

Shane Olivea, who was released by the Chargers on February 28, has been suspended for the first four games of the 2008 season for violating the league drug policy, according to Fox Sports.

Our View:Olivea can sign with a team and then participate in training camp and play in preseason games.
