Cleo Lemon has nailed down the No. 2 role at quarterback behind starter David Garrard in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Times-Union. The team only kept two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

Our View:Lemon won the job, but is merely adequate as a quarterback, and the Jaguars offense would likely struggle if David Garrard is forced to miss time due to an injury this season.

Media perception is that quarterback Cleo Lemon had a bad spring and even his head coach admitted that he had struggled. But Lemon scored a victory with his coordinator, Dirk Koetter, who praised his progress in a new system with new terminology and against a defense that blitzed on nearly every down of team drills, according to Jaguars.com.

Our View:The Jaguars have high expectations in 2008, and it’s imperative that Lemon continues to progress in the event of an injury to starter David Garrard. By all accounts, Lemon finished the recent organized team activities with his best week of practice this spring.

Cleo Lemon, who joined the Jaguars at the end of February, has had a hard time picking up the teams offensive system at OTA's, according to the Florida Times-Union. "Cleo is going to be fine," OC Dirk Koetter said. "He's just having to go through a lot of adjustments mentally, which comes with being in a new system."

Our View:According to the report Todd Bouman is more comfortable right now in the offense, but the expectation is for Lemon to eventually get up to speed and to serve as the backup to starter David Garrard.

Cleo Lemon is scheduled to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars about their backup quarterback opening, according to FOX Sports. Lemon would serve as the backup to David Garrard, who is entering the final year of his contract. Quinn Gray, who was Jacksonville's second-string quarterback in 2007, is not expected to return as an unrestricted free agent. There are also rumors that Lemon could land in Minnesota, to push incumbent starter Tarvaris Jackson.
