Ronnie Brown (thumb) had a solid game in his return to action on Thursday night as he carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards.

Our View:Ricky Williams carried the ball only twice for two yards, though it's still unclear just how the team will split the touches between their top two options when the games count.

Ronnie Brown participated in practice Tuesday with a soft cast covering his sprained right thumb, and coach Tony Sparano expects him to play in Thursday's exhibition finale, according to the Palm Beach Post. Brown has fallen behind Ricky Williams on the depth chart, but Sparano isn't ready to name Williams the starter. "I need to see more of Ronnie before I make that decision," Sparano said. "If I don't see a whole lot more Ronnie, then Ricky will start."

Our View:It probably doesn't really matter who starts. This situation has RBBC written all over it. Look for Williams to start in the early going while Brown works his way back from the knee and thumb ailments.

Coach Tony Sparano believes that Ronnie Brown's workload could be compromised early in the season by his sprained thumb, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Brown is also trying to return from ACL surgery, and Sparano noted that he isn't where he needs to be mentally right now in that regard.

Our View:This news further raises Ricky Williams' fantasy stock heading into Week 1, who is also motivated while playing for a new contract.

Ronnie Brown returned to practice Thursday after missing time with a sprained thumb, according to the Palm Beach Post. Brown, sporting a soft cast on his right hand, wore his helmet and caught passes during the 30 minutes of practice.

Our View:It is encouraging to see him return to practice, but he is still not expected to play in Saturday's preseason contest against Kansas City, hence keeping Ricky Williams ahead in the race to be the No. 1 running back.

A sprained right thumb could cause Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown to miss the season opener against the New York Jets on September 7, according to PA Sports Ticker.

Our View:The Dolphins have listed Ricky Williams as the starting running back on their most recent depth chart, which was released Monday. Therefore, even if Brown could return by week 1 he will most likely serve only as a backup to Williams.
