Charlie Frye is just a year removed from being a starter quarterback in the NFL, and he believes that he will one day return to a starting role, according to Slam Sports. "This isn't my end," Frye said. "I don't see myself as a so-called 'career backup' quarterback. My goal is to get back on the field. That's what I do every day."

Our View:Frye will battle with Seneca Wallace to serve as the backup to Matt Hasselbeck this season. Unless Hasselbeck breaks some body part, Frye has virtually no shot at any significant playing time this season.

The Seahawks acquired quarterback Charlie Frye from the Browns via trade on Tuesday, according to ESPN. What the Cleveland received in exchange for Frye is still unknown. It is unlikely the Seahawks gave up much in return since they already had an adequate backup on the roster in Seneca Wallace, who they even signed to a contract extension this summer. Frye will be on the bottom of the depth chart for now and serve as the Seahawks' emergency quarterback on game days.
September 3, 2007
The Browns officially named quarterback Charlie Frye their week one starter Monday, according to the Associated Press. Frye was in competition with Derek Anderson for the nod to start Sunday against the Steelers.

Our View:Browns head coach Romeo Crennel said that the quarterback position will be evaluated on a weekly basis, meaning Frye shouldn’t get too comfortable with Anderson and first-round pick Brady Quinn waiting in the wings. Quinn will likely have this job by midseason.
September 1, 2007
Charlie Frye is expected to start for the Browns in Week 1, though coach Romeo Crennel hasn't made a formal announcement, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. It would be a surprise if Frye isn't named the starter, though it would be just as surprising if he holds onto the job for long; it's only a matter of time before rookie Brady Quinn takes the helm. Derek Anderson or Ken Dorsey likely will be cut on Saturday.
August 30, 2007
Charlie Frye will start against the Steelers in the preseason finale on Thursday. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that he still has an edge over Derek Anderson in the battle for the Week 1 starting job.

Our View:Of course, Brady Quinn is waiting in the wings and will take over the starting gig sooner or later, so fantasy owners would be wise to avoid Frye and Anderson on draft day.
