The Packers signed Vernand Morency to a one-year, $927,000 deal, according to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter. Morency is nothing more than a third-down back and will have value only if injuries hit the rest of the Green Bay backfield.

Our View:Rookie Brandon Jackson is out with a shin injury, which paved the way for Morency to start. Morency missed the entire preseason and the first three regular season games with a knee injury he suffered on the first day of training camp.

Our View:Morency will most likely start over injured rookie Brandon Jackson on Sunday. The Packers have struggled to establish a ground game this season, so Morency could still reclaim his starting job. However, he has a tough matchup with the Vikings stellar run defense.

Vernand Morency was limited in practice on Thursday, but there’s a chance he could start on Sunday against the Vikings. “He looked good two days in a row,” head coach Mike McCarthy told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “I think he’s put together back-to-back practices where in the past he’s been frustrated the day after a hard practice because of the way he feels.” Morency has not played this season because of a strained patella tendon in his right knee.

Our View:Morency is getting healthy at the same time that rookie Brandon Jackson is bothered by an injury. As such, Vernand could reclaim the starting job he possessed heading into training camp. However, he has a tough matchup against the Vikings defense.

Vernand Morency wore pads and took part in a significant portion of practice on Wednesday, however he was still listed as “limited participation” on the injury report, according the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He has yet to play in a game this season due to a strained patella tendon.

Our View:The big question continues to be how Morency feels the day after practice. He has practiced in the past, only to have knee soreness cause him to miss additional time.
