Cleveland Browns defensive end Corey Williams has proclaimed that the running back his team will face this week, New York's Brandon Jacobs, is someone who can be slowed if hit enough, according to the New York Times. "If we can come out and hit him in the mouth from the jump, he tends to slow down and do some tiptoeing," Williams said.

Our View:Heady talk for a member of a team that is 22nd in the NFL in rush defense. Usually, Jacobs is the one doing the hitting, so this should be an interesting matchup.
October 5, 2008
Brandon Jacobs rushed 15 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 5 win over the Seahawks. He added one catch for nine yards.

Our View:The entire Giants offense made it look easy against the Seahawks. Jacobs posted his best outing of what has been a strong four weeks thus far, and he remains a solid No. 2 fantasy back.
September 21, 2008
Brandon Jacobs compiled 14 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 victory over Cincinnati.

Our View:Jacobs, who has compiled 244 rushing yards in the first three weeks, scored his first regular season touchdown since Week 16 of last year.
September 14, 2008
Brandon Jacobs carried the ball just 15 times Sunday, but he made the most of it, gaining 93 yards. He added a two-yard catch.

Our View:The Giants were able to move the ball however they wanted on St. Louis. Jacobs probably could have easily gained 150 yards if they would've kept feeding him the ball.
September 4, 2008
Brandon Jacobs rushed 21 times for 116 yards and added one reception for 8 yards against Washington Thursday night.

Our View:Jacobs got 21 of the 32 carries for the Giants backfield. Jacobs not only received the bulk of the load, he also was the most effective, averaging 5.5 YAC. If the Giants keep feeding him, Jacobs will have an opportunity to put up 100 yards every week.
July 23, 2008
Brandon Jacobs has been thought of as the Giants lead back heading into the season, and while that might still be the case, it also appears that he is in danger of losing touches, according to the Giants Official Website. When asked about how the team's runners will be treated this season, here is what OC Kevin Gilbride said. "...depending on how certain defenses are playing us, which guy's playing better that day, in other words, kind of who has the hot hand, who is playing the best, that is the guy that we would certainly feature that day."

Our View:Ahmad Bradshaw and Derrick Ward are the two backs who will obviously benefit if the team follows through with this plan. Jacobs is still the top target on draft, and if he is healthy there is no reason to think that he won't be able to produce solid RB2 numbers.
July 16, 2008
Right now it looks like Brandon Jacobs will not be getting a contract extension before training camp opens on July 24. Although there is no deadline in place, both sides are still working to bridge the gap between what Jacobs wants and what the Giants are willing to pay, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:The Giants don't doubt Jacobs' ability to produce, but the running back's injury concerns are likely what is holding the club back from giving him a big payday.
June 26, 2008
Brandon Jacobs is nearing a resolution to his contract negotiations with the Giants and is on the cusp of signing a reported four year deal, according to the Bergen Record.

Our View:Jacobs went for over 1,000-yards last year (1.009) despite the fact that he was limited to 11 games because of injury. He has proven to be a bull in his early career, and he figures to provide solid RB2 numbers this year if he can stay on the field.
June 19, 2008
Running back Brandon Jacobs is entering the final year of his contract and looking for a big payday. The New York Giants have a differing view on the possible compensation package, but the Newark Star-Ledger is speculating that the recent probation violation of Ahmad Bradshaw could possibly jump-start the negotiations.

Our View:The Giants were previously utilizing Bradshaw as leverage in the contract negotiations, but the fact that he is currently sitting in jail on a probation violation, places some doubt on that insurance policy. While the Giants would like to see Jacobs make it through a full season healthy, he is clearly the best back on the roster. Stay tuned.
May 30, 2008
Brandon Jacobs suffered through a season full of nagging injuries. The big back missed five games and part of a sixth because of a variety of injuries. If the Giants want to repeat as Super Bowl champs, Jacobs must stay healthy.

Our View:In his first year as a starter Jacobs gained 1,009 yards with a 5.0 yards per carry average. If he stays healthy he will challenge 1300-1400 yards with a number of receptions that will bolster his all-purpose status.
April 20, 2008
Brandon Jacobs was reportedly spotted at Madison Square Garden on Saturday with a cast on his left forearm and his arm wrapped up in a sling, according to the NY Daily News. Jacobs had surgery recently on his left wrist, to just "clean some stuff out." He commented that he will definitely be ready for the start of training camp.

Our View:Jacobs broke loose for 1009 yards in 2007, and is heading into a contract year.
April 12, 2008
The Giants and Brandon Jacobs' reps are reportedly way apart on contract talks, according to the Star Ledger. The talks are only preliminary, and the team still has plenty of time to work out a new deal for him.

Our View:The rising star bruised his way to 1009 rushing yards in the 2007 season, which ended with a Super Bowl win. The team will take care of him.
January 6, 2008
Brandon Jacobs had 50 totals yards and two scores (one rushing, one receiving) Sunday before leaving in the second half after he cramped up. He'll be fine for next week. It was Ahmad Bradshaw, not Reuben Droughns, that stepped in when Jacobs went down.
