Daven Holly injured his knee during practice and there is fear that he could be out for the 2008 season, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Team GM Phil Savage said, "It doesn't look good." The knee injury reportedly includes ligament and cartilage damage.

Our View:The team is already trying to replace Leigh Bodden (who departed to join the Lions), and now they must deal with the likely loss of another starting cornerback. The team is thin at the position, and Brandon McDonald is going to fill in for Holly.

Daven Holly sustained an apparent knee injury in a drill during workouts Wednesday at the Browns training complex, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Our View:The Browns are very thin at the cornerback position, and cannot afford to lose Holly. He was expected to compete with Brandon McDonald to replace Leigh Bodden, who was shipped out of town to Detroit in the off-season. Eric Wright is the other starting cornerback as of now. We will keep you posted on the severity of Holly's injury.

With the trade of CB Leigh Bodden to Detroit, Brandon McDonald and Daven Holly will compete to start opposite Eric Wright at cornerback for Cleveland, according to Pro Football Weekly. Retaining Holly, a restricted free agent who has yet to sign his tender, is one of the last orders of business for the Browns as the free-agent market slows to a crawl. The 5-10, 185-pound Holly has proven one of the truly shrewd finds by the Browns' pro personnel staff. Released by Chicago in June 2006, Holly has played in 29 games in the last two seasons, starting 18.
