Noah Herron has been cut by the Packers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Other players released by the club are wide receiver Jake Allen, cornerback Scorpio Babers, defensive tackle Conrad Bolston, center Brennen Carvalho, safety Tyrone Culver, linebacker Spencer Havner, tight end Joey Haynos, guard Ryan Keenan, linebacker Danny Lansanah, defensive tackle Alfred Malone, running back Vernand Morency, defensive tackle Daniel Muir, cornerback Joe Porter, wide receiver Johnny Quinn, wide receiver Taj Smith, wide receiver Brett Swain, tackle Orrin Thompson and fullback Corey White.

Our View:The Packers are set at running back with Ryan Grant as the starter and Brandon Jackson as the primary backup. Kregg Lumpkin has won the race for the No. 3 role over Herron and Morency.

Noah Herron reportedly fought off two burglars who entered his home, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He struck one with a bed post that he unscrewed from his bed last weekend. The intruder was injured during the May 30th burglary and a second offender was apprehended outside the home by Brown County Sheriff's deputies, according to information released by the Brown County Sheriff's Department today. Herron was not hurt during the invasion, and he used necessary and acceptable force to defend his home.

Our View:He shall now be nicknamed "Dirty Herron" following this incident.

Noah Herron tweaked his quad in Monday's loss to Seattle, but apparently it isn't a great concern because Herron is not listed on this week's injury report and he's been able to practice with the team.

With Ahman Green out, Noah Herron still looked to be the second option for the Packers in Week 5. However, after Vernand Morency lost a fumble early and then had the ball come loose a second time, Herron caried the load the rest of the way. Herron rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. This probably makes him the primary backup behind Green, but Morency is still the more skilled player, and he could get another opportunity.

With the injury to William Henderson, Samkon Gado and Noah Herron worked out extensively at fullback in Monday's practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Henderson is expected to be ready to start the season, but if he is not, Gado and/or Herron could fill in for him.
