Newsbreakers
November 23, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew had only three carries for four yards in Week 12, but he made a huge impact in the passing game with nine catches for 113 yards.

Our View:Most fantasy owners will probably take his performance, even if he didn't do much on the ground.
November 16, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew gained just 66 yards on 17 carries Sunday against the Titans, but two of those totes were goal-line scores.

Our View:MJD now has six touchdowns over the last three weeks and 11 scores overall on the year. Fred Taylor fared better on the ground today, gaining 58 yards on 12 totes, but MoJo is clearly the man at the stripe.
November 9, 2008
Running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed 11 times for 70 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 10 win over the Lions. He chipped in two catches for 21 yards. All three of his scores came in the second quarter.

Our View:Jones-Drew is up to nine touchdowns on the season, a total which makes up for his general lack of yardage. We realize this huge effort came against the lowly Lions, but hopefully the Jags offensive line can use the showing to give them more confidence moving forward.
November 2, 2008
Running back Maurice Jones-Drew posted 10 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Week 9 loss to Cincinnati.

Our View:Jones-Drew, who also chipped in two receptions for 29 yards, has rushed for 32 or fewer yards in five of seven games this season. But he has managed to score a touchdown in three of the past four weeks.
October 18, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew of Jacksonville was one of the winners of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week, according to Chargers.com.

Our View:Jones-Drew ran 22 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the Jags' win over Denver last week.
October 12, 2008
Running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed 22 times for 125 yards and two scores in the Week 6 win over the Broncos. He also caught two passes for 23 yards.

Our View:MoJo took advantage of an injury to Fred Taylor (head) and of a weak Broncos run defense. The Jaguars offensive line remains a work in progress, and they could welcome center Brad Meester back during the Week 7 bye. Jones-Drew could be primed for a big rest of the season.
October 5, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew has returned to the field for the Jaguars. His right ankle is heavily taped.

Our View:As soon as Jones-Drew stepped back on the field the Jaguars threw him a screen pass.
October 5, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew left the Jaguars game versus the Steelers in the third quarter with an injured right ankle.

Our View:Drew has taped the ankle very heavily and the Jaguars are calling his return questionable.
September 26, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew returned to full practice on Friday and is being listed as probable on the injury report, according to the Jaguars Official Website.

Our View:Drew's injured ankle is sufficiently healed to allow him to face the Texans poor rush defense a week after he racked up 107 yards against the Colts. Start him with confidence.
September 21, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew was an absolute bowling ball on Sunday against the Bob Sanders-less Colts defense. He racked up 107 yards on 19 carries and added 59 more yards on four receptions. He finished the day with one touchdown.

Our View:Jones-Drew was a key ingredient to the Jack Del Rio's successful recipe against the Colts. The Jags held the ball for over 41 minutes of game time and wore out the Colts patched defense. The performance was no doubt a relief to MoJo's fantasy investors. He had just 30 yards rushing in his first two weeks. Fellow running back Fred Taylor had 26 carries for 121 yards.
September 19, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew has been nursing an ankle injury during the week, but is listed as probable for Sunday's battle at Indianapolis, according to the Jaguars' official website.

Our View:He should play, and is worth starting as a No. 2 fantasy back. Fred Taylor should get more carries, but Jones-Drew scored a touchdown in both meetings against the Colts in 2007.
September 18, 2008
Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew sat out Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, but he participated in limited fashion on Thursday, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:Jones-Drew is still expected to play on Sunday, but it is possible that Fred Taylor may see more carries, hurting MJD's fantasy prospects.
September 17, 2008
According to jaguars.com, coach Jack Del Rio is not concerned with Maurice Jones-Drew's ankle injury that he suffered last week. MoJo sat out Wednesday's practice, but he seems likely to get some carries against the Colts on Sunday.

Our View:If you have another option, it may be a good week to use it. MoJo has just 19 touches this year and it remains to be seen how healthy he will be.
September 14, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew carried the ball seven times for 17 yards and scored the Jaguars only touchdown in a 20-16 loss to the Bills.

Our View:Jones-Drew did chip in 3 receptions for 25 yards, which helps his overall numbers in PPR leagues. However, he also exited the game in the third quarter due to an undisclosed leg injury.
September 14, 2008
Maruice Jones-Drew exited the game against Buffalo late in the third quarter with an undisclosed leg injury.

Our View:Jones-Drew, who limped off the field after being stuffed for no gain on a third-and-1 play, hobbled to the sideline favoring his right leg. He had his shoe off and the trainers were examining his lower leg on the sideline. No further information is currently available.
September 7, 2008
Running backs Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor got off to a slow start in Week 1. They combined to rush 14 times for 31 yards against the Titans. Jones-Drew did add four receptions for 37 yards, and he nearly scored in the second quarter. The Jaguars challenged the ruling, but the officials upheld the call that he came up short.

Our View:When Albert Haynesworth is healthy, the Titans can be very, very difficult to run against. It probably didn't help that the Jags were without center Brad Meester. Fantasy owners shouldn't be too down on Taylor and MoJo yet. They got off to a similar start in Week 1 against the Titans last year.
August 24, 2008
Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter and did not return, but today thehe team reports the injury wasn't serious, according to the Florida Times-Union. "He's OK,'' said coach Jack Del Rio, adding that Drew could have continued playing if needed. "We are going to let that settle down and not become an issue.''

Our View:Drew hurt his ankle after he was tackled for a 4-yard loss by defensive tackle Chris Hovan on a second-and-8 play with 11:31 to go. So breath deep fantasy owners, sounds like he's good to go.
August 23, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew left Saturday's game in the first quarter with a sprained ankle, according to SportsTicker.

Our View:It isn't immediately known how severe the injury is. We'll update you when more info is available.
June 28, 2008
Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to see more touches this year, and according to Rototimes sources he should be the starter with Fred Taylor seeing touches in relief of the younger and more powerful tailback.

Our View:Jones-Drew has the speed to run off the edge and the power to pound yards between the tackles. The small in stature, huge in heart tailback, is hard to see behind his big offensive linemen. He only needs the majority of the Jags touches at running back to be a No. 1 fantasy option.
January 5, 2008
Although Maurice Jones-Drew had just 29 yards on eight carries in Saturday's loss at Pittsburgh, he impacted the game in several other ways. He came through on a 43-yard touchdown catch, he had a 96-yard kickoff return down to the Pittsburgh 1-yard line, and he also scored a rushing TD.
