Wideout Derek Hagan worked out for the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, days after his release from the Dolphins, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View:Hagan was a third-round pick in 2006 who was not a favorite of the Dolphins current regime. He showed some signs of production last year, catching 29 passes for 372 yards and two scores, but only played in four games before being axed.

Wide receiver Derek Hagan was released from the Dolphins on Tuesday, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:Hagan had no fantasy value this year.

Dolphins inactives: QB John Beck (3rd), G Shawn Murphy, DE Lionel Dotson, T Nate Garner, T Kirk Barton, TE Joey Haynos, WR Derek Hagan, DE Rodrique Wright.

Our View:None of the players on this list are fantasy relevant.

The Sun-Sentinel reports that head coach Tony Sparano has issued a challenge to his receivers, including third-year receiver Derek Hagan. "I need someone to step up and make a big play," Sparano said. "I'm hoping to see some of our receivers step up, make a big play, break a tackle, run after the catch."

Our View:Hagan, who had all three of his receptions for 51 yards Sunday, is hoping to answer Sparano's challenge. "We just know when our number is called we just have to take advantage of those plays and hope we make the play, get a first down," Hagan said. Chad Pennington and his weak arm is partially to be blamed for this but expect the Dolphins WRs to make some noise at some point this season.

The Miami Herald reports that Derek Hagan has been working as the No. 1 receiver with the Dolphins this week. He intends to embrace the role and said, "I am back where I need to be."

Our View:Heading into Week 1 he was demoted to the No. 3 role behind Greg Camarillo, and a rotation seems likely over the course of the season until one of the receivers makes an impact and proves his worth as a starter.
