Owen Daniels has improved his production each of his last two seasons as the Texans' starting tight end, and he is looking to raise his numbers even higher in 2008, according to the Houston Chronicle. He said, "Hopefully, I can help more in the red zone receiving and blocking. We need to run the ball better in the red zone. If we can, it’ll open up the passing game more and, hopefully, open things for me working the middle of the field. I improved last season, but I want to be more consistent. I feel pretty comfortable with what we’re doing." Coach Gary Kubiak added, "He’s a much better player from the receiving end. The thing I’ve been impressed with is that he’s better along the line of scrimmage than he has been. That’s probably the thing that’s kept him from getting some of the respect some of these other tight ends get. If he continues to develop in that area, he can be even better than he already is."

Our View:Daniels registered 63 receptions for 768 yards and three touchdowns in 2007, and could emerge as a top-10 fantasy tight end if he continues to improve and reaches the end zone more frequently.

Owen Daniels sustained a broken nose on Sunday. "It shifted over to the right a little bit," Daniels said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I came in here, and they popped it back to where it is supposed to be — almost straight. They bandaged me up nice and I was happy to get back in there. I'm hideous now. Good thing I have a girlfriend already." The injury didn't stop him from catching five passes for 74 yards, so it shouldn't keep him from playing in Week 12.

Owen Daniels is active for the Texans Sunday despite dealing with a high ankle sprain. The ankle injury could limit him somewhat, so he's not a great play against Oakland.

Owen Daniels is dealing with a high ankle sprain, the Texans said on Monday. MRI results are not available yet.
