With Donovan McNabb sitting out the Eagles Thursday night matchup with the Jets, Kevin Kolb was 13-for-21 for 138 yards in relief of A.J. Feeley who tossed the ball for 143 yards and a TD in 25 passes of his own.

Our View:Though Feely had the score, he also tossed two interceptions and didn't look as sharp as Kolb who feels he is more than ready to take on the role of the backup quarterback spot with the Eagles.

Philadelphiaeagles.com reports that Kevin Kolb is officially the team's number two quarterback.

Our View:This is no small matter because starting quarterback, Donovan McNabb is quite injury prone. Kolb's rise up the depth chart gets him that much closer to his ultimate goal - to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. If McNabb goes down. Kolb will likely be available on waivers in your league.

Kevin Kolb displayed a lot of progress and leadership as he worked in the Eagles recent rookie camp. "Kevin's already been through what we're going through," rookie wideout DeSean Jackson informs the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He's showing a lot of leadership. I'm looking up to him because he knows the offense already." Kolb adds that he feels much more comfortable now than he did in his first year.

Our View:Kolb is set to sit again in 2008, at least until Donovan McNabb suffers his yearly injury or three. There is no quarterback controversy at the moment, but Andy Reid is setting up the organization well for the post-McNabb era.

Kevin Kolb has been promoted ahead of AJ Feeley as the top backup in Philadelphia and continues to progress, according to PhiladelphiaEagles.com. Kolb said, "Obviously you want to progress up the ladder because I want to be a starter in this league. The reason it really means a lot to me is because it seems that I get more reps. The more reps I get, the better I feel that I'm going to get. I need a lot of them as a young quarterback. I go back there in a drop, play-action, whatever, and it just feels comfortable. When that happens, then obviously the other things start to slow down and you can start focusing on details. And that's what makes you a better player."

Our View:Kolb displays a strong arm and generally makes good decisions with his passes. He is being groomed to be the eventual replacement for Donovan McNabb, who will turn 32 in November. He is making favorable progress in his second season, and we may see him on the field sooner rather than later, when you consider McNabb's track record with durability.

Barring something unforeseen, quarterback Kevin Kolb will jump ahead of A.J. Feeley on the depth chart behind starting quarterback Donovan McNabb after not attempting a pass all of last season, according to the Trenton Times.

Our View:Kolb, who was selected in the second round of the NFL draft last year, combines excellent size with a strong arm. McNabb has been oft injured during his career and turns 32 in November, so the organization is grooming Kolb as his eventual replacement.
