Selvin Young ran the ball seven times and gained 42 yards in Denver's preseason loss to the Packers. Fellow running back Andre Hall also had a solid game, accumulating 46 yards on nine carries.

Our View:It will be tough for fantasy owners to depend on either of these backs on a weekly basis, because of all the maneuvering Mike Shanahan does at the position. They both have value, though right now Young's is higher.

Selvin Young was effective in Saturday's preseason win over Dallas as he rushed for 36 yards on nine carries, according to the Denver Post. He also caught one pass, but for a three-yard loss.

Our View:Young should be drafted as a No. 3 fantasy running back, with potential to be a solid starter.
July 28, 2008
The Denver Post has named Selvin Young the "clear starter" in the Denver Broncos' backfield. The same article mentions that undrafted rookie running back Anthony Alridge is making his case for a roster spot. Alridge, with his speed and shifty moves, had the most electric runs of any running back Monday morning.

Our View:Young averaged 5.2 yards per carry last season and also hauled in 35 passes in limited duty. If he is indeed the clear starter, he has top-10 running back fantasy potential playing on the Broncos. However, Mike Shannahan has been known to shuffle running backs throughout the season so a further monitoring of this situation is needed before crowning Selvin as a big time 2008 producer.

Selvin Young still has a ways to go to establish himself as the No. 1 running back. But the team is pleased with his offseason commitment to getting stronger and his determination to disprove the perception he's an injury-prone, change-of-pace runner, according to the Sporting News.

Our View:From 2003-07, five different players have led the Broncos in rushing, so keep a close eye on this situation heading into training camp. The running back depth chart has been extremely fluid in the past, which means caution is in order when considering any Denver runner for your fantasy team.

The tailback competition for the Denver Broncos will be one of the more interesting in training camp, but Selvin Young could make it a moot point if he has a great showing, according to USA Today. Young became the starter when Travis Henry was released, and took every snap as the top tailback during the team's final offseason camp.

Our View:Young is defintely a "riser" in the fantasy world. Early in May, he was a mid-eighth round draft selection in 12-team mock drafts. Currently, he's being selected at the end of the fifth round, and a solid training camp performance would only increase his fantasy stock.
