As expected, Gary Russell has been promoted from the practice squad to the Steelers' 53-man roster, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Davis could be in the mix at running back Sunday, but has a tough match-up against Jacksonville and is not likely to make an impact.

Running back Gary Russell will probably be signed off the Steelers' practice squad and onto their active roster, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:The Steelers are down two running backs in Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall, so they signed Najeh Davenport and will bring Russell up. He was re-signed to their practice squad a week ago after being cut, and will now make the leap to the active roster.
September 23, 2008
Gary Russell has been re-signed by the Steelers, according to their official team website. Linebacker Patrick Bailey has been promoted from the practice squad as well.

Our View:He has been added to the practice squad and was brought back as insurance with Willie Parker out for Week 4.
September 20, 2008
Pittsburgh has released running back Gary Russell in order to promote linebacker Patrick Bailey to the active roster, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:Bailey was promoted because of his excellent special teams play, and is of no consequence in fantasy leagues.
June 29, 2008
The Steelers have praised Gary Russell and believe he can develop into a "top notch" running back, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Russell has a shot to make the team as a fourth running back behind Willie Parker, rookie Rashard Mendenhall, and Mewelde Moore. But he won't hold any fantasy value while fighting for scraps.
