X marks the spot for wide receiver Limas Sweed. In football speak, the X position is the split end and that’s where the rookie receiver will line up, behind Santonio Holmes, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Limas is at X," offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said. "We can move Santonio around, which we started doing a lot last year because he plays in the slot very well. Limas can play in the slot, no problem. Hines can obviously play everywhere. Nate [Washington] can play everywhere -- he's had to play every position on the team the last two years; he's lined up at X, F, Y and Z."

Our View:The Steelers have a versatile receiver corps given the various players ability to lineup in different locations depending on the formation. Sweed will learn the “X” position first, but wide receivers coach, Randy Fichtner, expects the rookie to overtake Washington and fill the slot role in 2008.

The Steelers used the 53rd pick to select Limas Sweed in the second round on Saturday. The two-time All-Big Twelve second teamer fills a need for Pittsburgh. In the mold of Plaxico Burress at 6-4 and 215 pounds, he is the big receiver the team targeted.

Our View:His senior season was stunted by a wrist injury that required surgery. Sweed has that combination of size, speed, vertical reach and great hands to be a top-tiered possession receiver. His ability to make the tough catch was one of the attributes that intriqued the Steelers. Many scouts believe he's NFL-ready, and along with Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes could form a deadly triple-threat.

Limas Sweed had his "Pro Day" workout, according to NFL.com. He notably ran the 40 in 4.50 and 4.51, had a 37.5 inch vertical jump, 4.33 short shuttle, and reportedly looked good catching the ball.
