Ryan Grant must wear a splint on his sprained thumb to play in Week 14 against Houston, according to Packers.com.

Our View:His playing status will hinge on how well he can hold onto the ball while wearing the splint. If he is unable to function properly, the Packers have confidence in Brandon Jackson leading the ground attack.

Head coach Mike McCarthy confirms that running back Ryan Grant injured his hand in the second quarter of the Week 13 loss to the Panthers. Grant did not return. "He had a thumb injury. I just felt that he was having trouble with the ball carriage. That's why we did not go with him in the second half," McCarthy tells the team's official web site.

Our View:The media didn't see fit to ask how much time Grant would miss, but we'll get such updates in the coming days. Brandon Jackson stands to start if Grant's injury holds him out.

Running back Ryan Grant injured his hand during the second quarter of the Week 13 game against the Panthers. As of the start of the fourth quarter, Grant has yet to return. Brandon Jackson is playing in his place.

Our View:It's a tough blow for fantasy owners who needed a good game from Grant to get into their playoffs. It looks like he might be stuck on 12 rushes for 39 yards. Earlier reports suggested he would return, so we still believe the injury is minor.

Windy conditions are expected in Green Bay today when the Packers host the Panthers, according to FOX Sports.

Our View:This could lower the value of the two featured passing attacks today, but could bode well for the running game, involving Ryan Grant for Green Bay and DeAngelo Williams and Jon Stewart for Carolina.

The Green Bay Packers want running back Ryan Grant to be more productive and find ways to get more yards, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We have to provide opportunities and then he (Grant) has to take advantage of those opportunities. Sometimes he has to create his own and make some of those yards on his own," Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin said.

Our View:Grant started off slowly but has come on of late. He has 837 yards, but just three touchdowns and isn't breaking many long runs. His opponent Sunday, Carolina, is 17th in rush defense, so he should get plenty of opportunities to gain yards.
