It finally looks like the hamstring issues that have been hampering Ryan Grant might be behind him. For the second straight day, Grant fully participated in practice and was not listed on the injury report, according to Packers.com.

Our View:This news is sweet music to Grant owners' ears who have been waiting for the Packers running back to produce like he did at the end of 2007. This week Grant should carry a full load of carries.
September 24, 2008
Ryan Grant has been limited by a hamstring injury over the first three weeks of the season, but is not on the Packers' injury report, according to Packers.com.

Our View:Barring a setback, Grant looks to handle a full workload this weekend against the Buccaneers (19th ranked run defense).
September 21, 2008
Ryan Grant got the start on Sunday and was the lone back for the Packers in the first half, but he was unable to convert his opportunity into a quality game. He carried the ball just 13 times for 54 yards and did not register a catch and lost a fumble on his first carry.

Our View:There was no talk of his hamstring acting up although Brandon Jackson did appear in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach. Grant has been a disappointment through three weeks. It doesn't figure to get any easier in Week 4 when the Packers visit Tampa Bay.
September 19, 2008
Ryan Grant returned to practice at full strength on Friday and is listed as probable in the team's injury report according to packers.com.

Our View:Good news for Grant owners here. However, the matchup with Dallas is not particularly inspiring. Expect a starter's amount of carries but don't count on a big game from Grant.
September 19, 2008
Ryan Grant missed Thursday's practice, but is expected to practice today, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is still nursing a hamstring ailment.

Our View:If he practices today without any issues, he should be cleared to play in Sunday night's marquee match-up against the Cowboys.
September 18, 2008
Ryan Grant was not in attendance at the start of Thursday's practice while nursing his hamstring ailment, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Grant is not expected to practice until Friday as the Packers don't want to risk making his hamstring worse. If he practices tomorrow without any issues, he should be counted on to play in Sunday's marquee match-up with Dallas.
September 17, 2008
Ryan Grant was held out of Wednesday's practice as he continues to nurse his hamstring ailment, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Grant should continue to rest up heading into Sunday's marquee match-up against the Cowboys.
September 14, 2008
After a poor day running the ball (20 yards on 15 carries), Packers running back Ryan Grant said he did not run as hard as he can because his hamstring is still hurting him, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Our View:Brandon Jackson was easily the team's most effective runner, as he ran for 61 yards and a score. Grant said he felt okay, but needed more time before he will be fully healthy.
September 14, 2008
Perhaps Ryan Grant should have rested his hamstring today after all. Grant appeared to have a plum matchup against the Lions, but he managed just 20 yards on 15 carries.

Our View:Grant was reportedly feeling healthy, so we can't really blame the hamstring here. Brandon Jackson had 61 yards on seven carries.
September 14, 2008
Not surprisingly, Ryan Grant is active today for the Packers.

Our View:Grant had been looking better in practice and was expected to play. He has a fantastic matchup against Detroit.
September 13, 2008
Ryan Grant looked better in practice Friday than he did before the opener, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He has been nursing a hamstring injury.

Our View:Grant is good to go and has a juicy matchup against the Lions on the docket.
September 12, 2008
Ryan Grant fully practiced Friday, increasing his chances he'll play in Week 2 against the Lions, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is dealing with a hamstring ailment, and will be closely monitored on Saturday. Coach Mike McCarthy said, "He looked good. Really the question for Ryan will be tomorrow, same thing we went through last week. How does the hamstring feel in the morning? They worked it. They pushed him as far as he probably could go today, and we'll see how he is tomorrow."

Our View:Grant would have a great match-up this weekend against a Lions' defense that surrendered 220 rushing yards to Michael Turner in Week 1. Grant owners should "handcuff" Brandon Jackson for insurance in case he ultimately cannot go.
September 11, 2008
The injury report on Ryan Grant seems to get a little murkier every day. When the injury report comes out on Friday, Grant will be listed as questionable. Coach Mike McCarthy said that more will be known on Friday when Grant tests out his hamstring, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:Earlier in the week, it looked like it was just a precautionary move to keep Grant out of practice. But as more news come, it is far from a sure thing that Grant will play on Sunday. The Packers say it will be a game-time decision on whether or not he will play.
September 10, 2008
On Thursday, Ryan Grant will be held out of practice for the second straight day. It is due to his tight hamstring that he has been dealing with for a while, according to Packers.com.

Our View:Grant was battling the hamstring going into Week 1 and still ran for 92 yards. Even though Grant has missed practice this week he should be ready to go even if it is at less than 100 percent.
September 10, 2008
Packers running back Ryan Grant still has a sore hamstring and played at less than 100 percent on Monday night against Minnesota, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Our View:It is not known how the injury will affect him for Week 2, but fantasy owners should feel pretty good knowing he can run for 92 yards while not completely healthy.
September 8, 2008
Ryant Grant rushed 12 times for 92 yards in the Packers Week 1 victory.

Our View:Although Grant split carries with Brandon Jackson, he proved it's his job when he returns to full health averaging 7.7 YAC.
September 8, 2008
Ryan Grant is expected to split carries with Brandon Jackson on Monday against the Vikings according to ESPN's Wendy Nix. Grant has not participated much in preseason or practices to this point and Jackson has shown well. Coach Mike McCarthy says the running back will be closely watched due to Grant's recurring soreness in his hamstring.

Our View:His opponent, Minnesota, boasts one of the best defenses in the league and due to injuries Grant will run behind an offensive line that includes backups at both guard positions and likely center. Grant will get his share of touches, but don't expect him to be a fantasy stud on Monday night.
September 7, 2008
Running back Ryan Grant (hamstring) took part in practice on Saturday after getting the day off Friday and will play on Monday night against Minnesota, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:Backup Brandon Jackson is also expected to play a lot, though, neither player is a great option facing the Vikings stout run defense.
September 5, 2008
Ryan Grant was held out of Friday's practice, but the team indicated it was just for precautionary reasons, according to the AP. He has been dealing with a hamstring ailment.

Our View:The team is yet to list his status, but it appears to be a good bet he will suit up for Monday's NFC North battle against the Vikings.
September 5, 2008
Packers' running back coach Edgar Bennett noted that Ryan Grant could handle a full workload of 20+ carries Monday night against Minnesota if needed, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He had been dealing with a hamstring ailment.

Our View:The Vikings' run defense presents a tough match-up, but fantasy owners should not sit Grant based solely on fear that he won't get a solid number of carries due to his hamstring.
September 4, 2008
Packers running back Ryan Grant was back at practice on Thursday after missing some time earlier in the week with a hamstring ailment, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Grant's status is not yet known for the Packers opening game, but he is helped by the fact the contest is on Monday night, giving him an extra day of rest.
September 2, 2008
Ryan Grant sat out Tuesday's practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is nursing a hamstring ailment.

Our View:His status for Monday's game against the division rival Vikings is yet to be determined.
August 29, 2008
Packers running back Ryan Grant suited up and started for the team on Thursday, but played just one play as Aaron Rodgers completed a long touchdown pass to Greg Jennings, according to Scout.com.

Our View:Grant did not get one carry for the team in the preseason after hurting his hamstring. After coach Mike McCarthy said he needed to get reps, Grant got none, and it's fair to wonder if he'll be rusty for the opener.
August 27, 2008
Packers running back Ryan Grant will make the start in the team's final preseason game against Tennessee, though he will likely not get significant reps, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "He just needs reps like everybody else. He’s kept himself in great shape. He looks good," said Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy.

Our View:Grant held out briefly and then dealt with hamstring issues, so he has not gotten much work in during the preseason. He is still a solid No. 2 back for fantasy owners.
August 26, 2008
Coach Mike McCarthy plans to lighten Ryan Grant's workload this year, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I don't think he needs to carry it 30 times for us," McCarthy said. "I don't think he needs to carry it 25. I think 20 would be great. You have to be smart with a guy. You get him 20 carries a game, that's being smart and productive. You can get him the ball some other ways through the passing game. I don't want the guy to be a one- or two-year flash and be done with him. History supports that."

Our View:Brandon Jackson will get a handful of carries per game. Although Grant losing carries would seem to hurt his fantasy value, it could mean he will stay fresh and more productive. He also figures to see more dump off passes from Aaron Rodgers than he did from Brett Favre.
August 18, 2008
Ryan Grant failed to practice again Monday because of his hamstring injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Grant said he's still on track to be ready in Week 1, but you'll want to track his progress to make sure he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
August 11, 2008
Ryan Grant will not play in the Packers Monday night game against the Bengals because of his hamstring issue, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:Grant is still being considered day to day, and this most recent injury isn't thought to be anything to serious, so just keep monitoring the situation moving forward.
August 9, 2008
Green Bay rusher Ryan Grant's availability for Monday night's exhibition opener against the Cincinnati Bengals remains in doubt, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Grant has been on the sidelines for two straight days with a hamstring injury that coach Mike McCarthy characterized as slight. Grant stayed in Green Bay throughout the team's offseason workout program, meetings and practices even though he didn't participate in them. He hasn't said much about his latest setback. He appeared Saturday for a moment in the locker room with the media and said he'd come right back. He never returned, opting to go in for treatment on his ailing muscle instead. We'll keep you posted as news comes forth.
August 8, 2008
Ryan Grant sat out Friday's morning practice due to a tight hamstring, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:The severity of the ailment is yet to be disclosed.
August 2, 2008
Updating a previous report, Ryan Grant will be given a four-year deal that could earn him $30 million, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Grant will receive a $3 million roster bonus when he inks the contract and another $1.25 million for the 2008 season. The $1.25 million consists of a $750,000 base salary and another $500,000 roster bonus. Grant will earn $4.25 million in 2008 and $8 million over the first two years of the contract. There are layers of incentives and escalators in the contract that will pay Grant well. If he rushes for 1,500 yards this year, he will earn another $4 million in 2009. If he rushes for 1,000 yards, he will earn another $1 million. Based on how well Grant plays, he could earn $18 million, $24 million or $30 million over the life of the contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent in 2012.

Our View:Grant will be highly motivated to reach the performance incentives of his new deal, and could finish the season as a top-10 fantasy running back, if he remains healthy.
August 2, 2008
Ryan Grant has agreed to a contract extension with the Packers, according to Fox Sports. Terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed.

Our View:Grant is once again a safe fantasy prospect, and shouldn't be pushed by Brandon Jackson for the starting role at running back now that his holdout has ended.
August 2, 2008
Packers running back Ryan Grant wants a contract worth $40 million over six years, something Green Bay is unwilling to do, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Grant is seeking $4.5 million in bonus money this season while the Packers are offering $1.75

Our View:Grant has all of 10 productive games in the NFL. Understandably, it is difficult for Green Bay to be completely convinced that he is worth such a large investment. This standoff has lasted a week, and does not appear close to being over. Grant's is still a second-round type of back in fantasy drafts, but spending that high of a pick on a guy who may not be there in Week 1 is a gamble.
August 1, 2008
The Green Bay Packers and running back Ryan Grant are nowhere close to getting a deal done that will keep him in Green Bay, and the situation could last for some time, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Grant is currently not in camp, and Brandon Jackson is getting the reps in his absence. With how far apart the sides are, there may not be a resolution coming anytime soon. Fantasy players who draft Grant should make it a priority to handcuff Jackson, even if it means doing it a few rounds earlier than usual.
July 27, 2008
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Ryan Grant's agent has called the Packers initial contract offer "insulting." Grant appeared in 14 games last season and totaled 956 yards and eight touchdowns.

Our View:The Packers have other options in the backfield including younfer Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn so they may drive a hard bargain. Grant did not report to training camp Sunday and based on how angry his agent was with the Packers' first offer, it could be a long time before he's back in uniform.
July 27, 2008
Ryan Grant did not report to training camp Sunday, according to ESPN News.

Our View:He is seeking a long-term contract, but there is no indication if the Packers are close to reaching a deal. Brandon Jackson will benefit from Grant's absence as he will get extra reps in practice, and will work with the starting offense.
July 26, 2008
Green Bay running back Ryan Grant is not likely to be a participant when the Packers open training camp tomorrow, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentiinel.

Our View:It's difficult to assess what eight games of quality play is worth, but the Packers apparently believe in Grant enough to sign him long-term.
July 23, 2008
Ryan Grant and the Packers are working their way toward resolving the contract impasse that has Grant threatening to sit out camp, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Overall, the majority of the money we're willing to put into performance-based pay," agent Alan Herman said. "The better he does, the more money he makes. It's a no-brainer."

Our View:The deadline for reporting to camp in Sunday, and Herman expressed hope that a deal will be completed by then. Eventually this will get worked out, it's really just a matter of when.
July 21, 2008
Ryan Grant appeared Monday morning on ESPN's First Take. In the interview Grant said that discussions between his agent and the team are "moving forward" and that he is "very optimistic" a deal will get done. However, he did not deny that he will hold out if necessary.

Our View:He won't be able to attend traning camp unless he at least signs a one-year, $370,000 tender offer as an exclusive-rights free agent, so it sounds like a multi-year deal needs to get done or Grant will not report to training camp.
July 21, 2008
Ryan Grant intends to report to training camp on time, according to Pro Football Weekly. He is still looking for a new contract, but said, "I plan on being there. Everything is progressing well, and I'm ready to go."

Our View:He won't be able to attend traning camp unless he at least signs a one-year, $370,000 tender offer as an exclusive-rights free agent, so it sounds like a multi-year deal could get done prior to the start of camp.
July 16, 2008
Ryan Grant won't sign the minimum tender of $370,000 for a second-year player and won't report to training camp until he has a long-term contract, his agent, Alan Herman, told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Herman said he and the Packers have had substantive talks this offseason but haven't talked for about three weeks.

Our View:With the team preoccupied with that Favre guy, Grant has been put on the back burner. We expect the two sides to get a deal done and Grant to report to camp on time.
July 2, 2008
Ryan Grant is expected to reach an agreement on a multi-year contract, this according to the Pierce County Herald. The Packers want to get the deal done before training camp begins.

Our View:It difficult to project what Grant can get in a multi-year deal, until he was traded from New York during training camp last year he had no leverage to demand any such contract.
June 19, 2008
Bob Glauber of Newsday reports that the contract talks between running back Ryan Grant and the Green Bay Packers are amicable, and a long-term deal could be reached within the next two weeks.

Our View:Grant has attended team meetings and participated in the offseason-conditioning program, but he refuses to practice until a new deal is in place. Per Glauber, the Packers consider Grant their running back of the future, and hope to lock him down for five or six seasons.
June 17, 2008
As anticipated by all, Green Bay rusher Ryan Grant failed to show for the Packers' mandatory minicamp practice today as he and his agent continue to work with the team to reach a new contractual agreement, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Grant was traded to Green Bay just before the start of the regular season last year and went on to serve as an offensive catalyst. He has attended team meetings and has taken part in the offseason workout program, but he simply chooses not to participate in practices. Grant was in uniform Tuesday morning, hitting a blocking sled at the other end of the Packers' indoor practice facility while his teammates ran plays.
June 12, 2008
Ryan Grant still hasn't given any indication that he will attend the Packers training camp, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Listen to the words of HC Mike McCarthy. "I don't anticipate it's going to change. I don't know what the timeframe is, but there's been nothing said to me that would indicate for his situation to change."

Our View:Grant wont accept the second year tender currently on the table, not after rushing for 956 yards and eight scores last season. He certainly deserves to be paid more, and it appears that he is serious about holding out until he gets it.
May 28, 2008
Running back Ryan Grant's contract talks hit a substantive stage late last week and left Grant's agent, Alan Herman, optimistic he and the Green Bay Packers can grind out a deal in the coming weeks, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Our View:Herman has said Grant won't sign the $370,000 minimum tender for a second-year pro. However, after a 1½-hour conversation with Packers negotiator Russ Ball late last week, Herman said the team is open to a long-term deal, though it will require major compromises by both sides.
May 21, 2008
Ryan Grant feels that progress is being made in contract talks with the Packers and is optimistic that a deal could be done by training camp, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "I'd say that things are going good," Grant said. "We're on track. There's good communication. I'm here, so that means that there's very good communication. I'm taking care of my part. Everything else is between my agent and upstairs."

Our View:Grant has declined to sign his $370,000, one-year tender as an exclusive rights free agent in hopes of getting a new deal. He rushed for 956 yards as the primary rusher in 10 games last season.
April 24, 2008
Running back Ryan Grant still hasn't signed his $370,000 exclusive rights free agent qualifying offer, but said he does not envision a scenario in which he would hold out of training camp, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "No, I don't see it at that point, but right now that has nothing to do with where we're at," Grant said. As to where things stand on the new contract Grant is seeking, not much has been done but Grant is optimistic. "I'm not really pressed about anything right now," he said. "I just know at some point it will get done. I'm excited about it and I'm excited for the organization."

Our View:Grant is looking for a long-term deal after he rushed for 956 yards and averaged 5.1 yards a carry despite being the team’s primary halfback for only the final nine games of the 2007 season.
March 20, 2008
Ryan Grant will work with the Green Bay Packers in the offseason without a contract, but to get him to training camp the organization will have to sign him to a contract well above the NFL minimum for a second-year pro, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. His agent, Alan Herman, said Grant will take part in all the team’s minicamps and workouts this spring, but that he will not sign the $370,000 minimum tender for an exclusive-rights player who has only one accrued season in the NFL. Grant is looking for a longer, far more lucrative deal after he rushed for 956 yards and averaged 5.1 yards a carry despite being the team’s primary halfback for only the final nine games of the season.
February 25, 2008
Green Bay Packers HC Mike McCarthy has no plans to scrap the zone-blocking scheme in favor of a power-oriented attack, and he could draft a running back according to the PackersNews.com. The Packers had times last year where they couldn’t run the ball effectively, and there were some whispers that the team might shelf the running scheme. "Yes, we're staying with the zone-run scheme," McCarthy said at the NFL scouting combine last week. "We do run aspects of power schemes that are adjustments to our zone schemes, so that's why I don't think that's a valid criticism, (that) because we play in cold weather we're running the wrong kind of run-game offense." In addition, even after saying he feels much better about the running back position than at this time last year, McCarthy suggested the Packers could draft a running back with any pick. "As far as taking another one in the draft, if he's the guy up on the board, I'm sure we have no problem drafting him," McCarthy said. The organization appears to have Ryan Grant entrenched as their starter for 2008, but would like to add some depth behind him. The 2008 NFL draft is loaded with solid running back prospects, so there is depth to be had in April.
January 12, 2008
Ryan Grant had a monster game in Saturday's snowy win over Seattle, overcoming two early fumbles. He finished the day with 27 carries for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
