October 11, 2008 Right guard Darnell Stapleton could be the Steelers center of the future, Our View:You have to remember that center is to Steelers as, say, quarterback is to Cowboys. They've been blessed with the likes of Mike Webster, Dermonti Dawson, and Jeff Hartings over the years, and they are praying that a guy like Stapleton can become the next great middle piece. At the moment, fans should just be pleased the youngster is doing well at guard. |

October 7, 2008 Darnell Stapleton solidified his hold on the starting job at right guard with his play in the Steelers' 26-21 win over the Jaguars. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "He really did well. We'll continue to move forward with him in that spot." Our View:Stapleton and the rest of the Steelers offensive line has done a good job in run blocking but their pass protection is going to have to improve. Big Ben has been knocked around a lot this year. |
