Newsbreakers
November 22, 2008
Rams receiver Derek Stanley said on Friday that his ankle is feeling better and he will return kickoffs and punts on Sunday, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Our View:Stanley has taken over the kick return duties because of the injury to Dante Hall. Stanley doesn't hold any fantasy value as a receiver but will get plenty of opportunities to return kickoffs because of the Rams defense.
November 11, 2008
Derek Stanley suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 10 against the Jets, but coach Jim Haslett considers him day-to-day, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The second-year pro is developing into a solid return man, and has contributed two receptions for 92 yards and a score over his last two games as a receiver.
November 4, 2008
Derek Stanley will handle the return man role on special teams with Dante Hall out for the season, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Stanley hauled in one catch for an 80-yard score last week against Arizona, and is worth a look in leagues that award points for return men.
October 23, 2008
Rams receiver Derek Stanley was unable to practice on Wednesday due to a concussion he suffered Week 7 against the Cowboys, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Stanley collided with safety Keith Davis and was unconscious for about 20 seconds on the field. He has little fantasy value as the fourth or fifth receiver on the team.
October 10, 2008
As expected, the St. Louis Rams signed wideout Derek Stanley to the team off their practice squad, according to the AP.

Our View:Stanley is very raw, as he was a seventh-round draft pick out of Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater last year, but he has great speed and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. That doesn't mean he is fantasy-worthy, however, as his playing time may not be extraordinary.
October 7, 2008
Rams wideout Derek Stanley could be promoted to the active roster from the practice squad due to injuries at the position, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Stanley is a burner who can also be used on returns. He holds no fantasy value, however, as he would more than likely just be a depth player.
September 30, 2008
Rams wideout Derek Stanley is on the practice squad, but he took first-team reps in practice and could be promoted, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The Rams need speed at receiver to stretch the field, and Stanley certainly brings that. However, the former seventh-round pick likely would not be worthy of fantasy rosters.
September 1, 2008
The St. Louis Rams have signed seven players to their practice squad, according to ESPN.com. Those players are WR Derek Stanley, DL C.J. Ah You, FB Russ Weil, LB Marc Magro, RB Lance Ball, OL Dustin Fry, and CB Darius Vinnett.

Our View:Stanley played in one game for the Rams last season and was used as a kick returner. He will simply add depth, as will the others.
August 12, 2008
Rams receiver Derek Stanley spent some of today's practice playing on the defensive side of the ball, according to ESPN.com. "Derek is such a great athlete and has played the position before. It is something that I wanted to look at," said Rams head coach Scott Linehan.

Our View:This is probably a good thing for Stanley, because the more he can do, the better chance he has at staying on the team. He has no fantasy value either way, and is still fighting to make the roster.
