Wide receiver Will Franklin (knee) is active and will make his NFL debut in Week 3.

Our View:Franklin was pushing for a starting job this preseason but he eventually lost out to Devard Darling, thanks in part to his knee ailment. This rookie wideout could see his role grow as this season continues.

Will Franklin had been dealing with a knee injury, but returned to full speed practice Wednesday, according to the KC Star.

Our View:Barring a setback, he could make his Chiefs' debut Sunday against Oakland. He could push starter Devard Darling for playing time as the season progresses, but his fantasy value looks to be limited for right now, namely as the Chiefs' employ a run-oriented offense under coordinator Chan Gailey.

Wide receivers Maurice Price (knee) and Will Franklin (knee), linebacker Napoleon Harris, guard Brian De La Puente, offensive tackle Barry Richardson, defensive tackle T.J. Jackson, and quarterback Tyler Thigpen join running back Kolby Smith on the inactive list for Week 1.

Our View:Franklin is a promising rookie, but we didn't expect him to play due to his knee ailment. He should challenge Devard Darling for a starting spot as the season continues.

Will Franklin (knee) has been downgraded on the injury list according to the Boston Globe. He is now listed as "out" for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Our View:The rookie will have to wait at least one more week to make his NFL debut. When he does, he is likely to battle for the third wide receiver spot.
September 4, 2008
Chiefs rookie wide receiver Will Franklin may not be ready to play Week 1 against the Patriots, as he is still recovering from knee surgery, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Franklin had been getting plenty of opportunities to earn some playing time, and had he not had this injury, he may have been a starter. Alas, he'll have to wait until his knee is healthy before that can happen. Fantasy owners should not have him on their squad until he proves he will be able to contribute.

Will Franklin is doubtful for Saturday's preseason contest after sustaining a right knee injury Thursday, according to the KC Star.

Our View:Franklin could add a spark to the Chiefs' aerial attack this season, but still needs work on his mechanics and fundamentals, and missing a preseason game (and possibly two) will hinder his chances to make a favorable impact as a rookie.
July 27, 2008
Will Franklin will be expected to play a major role on the Chiefs' offense this season according to the Kansas City Star. He was the was the first receiver off the bench when the Chiefs went to their three-receiver formations.

Our View:Franklin has the speed to stretch the field and that's exactly what the coaches will use him to do. Franklin could be one of the better rookies but he's not worth drafting. The offense will go thru Larry Johnson and the running attack.

Fourth-round rookie Will Franklin looked very good this spring, running sharp routes and separating from his defender. He quickly has vaulted into the conversation for the starting gig in Kansas City, with the No. 3 slot role looking like the worst-case scenario, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Dwayne Bowe will start on one side, leaving Franklin, Jeff Webb and Devard Darling to compete for the No. 2 job and slot role. Franklin has already signed his first contract, so he will receive the benefit of a full training camp.

The Chiefs and fourth-round pick Will Franklin have agreed to terms on a four-year deal, the team's official web site reports. Franklin caught 49 passes for 709 yards and four touchdowns as a senior at Missouri.

Our View:Franklin has decent size and excellent speed. The Chiefs don't have a ton of depth at receiver, but he'll probably be limited to, at best, a No. 4 role as a rookie. Franklin has reportedly looked good thus far, though.
May 27, 2008
Fourth-round draft pick Will Franklin (Missouri) has looked comfortable with the Chiefs so far and has displayed solid hands, according to the Kansas City Star. Quarterback Damon Huard said, "He’s really quick making his moves, and he’s got really strong hands. He’s got the skills to be a special player. If he works hard at it, he will."

Our View:Franklin possesses good speed, quickness, and agility, and has good hands to make tough catches. He needs work on his route running, but could make an impact down the line with the Chiefs, namely as a slot receiver.
