Head coach Mike McCarthy has confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Matt Flynn will start in Week 5 if Aaron Rodgers is unable to go.

Our View:Flynn has not started an NFL game in his career and if Rodgers can't go it will be the second time this year that a Packer quarterback will make his first start.

Matt Flynn will start in Week 5 at quarterback if Aaron Rodgers is unable to go according to the Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:The rookie could be on a short leash with Brian Brohm getting equal reps in practice this week. Neither figures to be a good start until they prove otherwise.

Matt Flynn entered the Week 4 game against the Buccaneers in the fourth quarter. Starter Aaron Rodgers is on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

Our View:Rodgers was seen throwing on the sidelines, but apparently he doesn't feel strong enough to come back in. This is obviously bad news for the entire Packers offense.

Rookie quarterback and seventh-round pick Matt Flynn has officially been named the backup to starter Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He beat out fellow rookie and second-round pick Brian Brohm for the job.

Our View:Packers coach Mike McCarthy liked the way Flynn picked up the offense and performed in the preseason games. This means very little right now though, as the two will likely battle it out on a week-by-week basis.

All indications from the land of the frozen tundra suggest 7th-round draft pick Matt Flynn has won the honors to serve as the primary backup quarterback in Green Bay behind Aaron Rodgers, and he's done so well that he the team is unlikely to seek the addition of a veteran counterpart, according to the Sporting News.

Our View:Flynn has performed well and continues to improve as a leader and, more importantly, a man that fits the system. Second-round pick Brian Brohm seems certain to keep a roster spot as well, but he has struggled to avoid mistakes coach Mika McCarthy would rather avoid, thus the cannon arm out of Louisville will sit as the third option until he can get his mind right for the game.
