November 12, 2008
Receiver Josh Morgan has been ruled out for the 49ers Week 11 game against the Rams, according to the Santa Rosa Times.

Our View:Morgan has caught 15 passes this year and only two touchdowns. The receiver doesn't have any fantasy value.
November 10, 2008
Josh Morgan had four catches for 54 yards and a touchdown while working with new quarterback Shaun Hill in San Francisco's 24-29 loss to in Arizona on Monday night.

Our View:It was Morgan's second touchdown of the year and he was a reliable option for Hill most of the night.
November 7, 2008
Josh Morgan will remain the 49ers' starting split end over Bryant Johnson, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

Our View:Jason Hill will replace the injured Arnaz Battle as the 49ers' No. 3 receiver, leaving Bryant Johnson out of the mix as the fourth receiver. Morgan is tall and athletic, but the rookie lacks polish as a route runner, and will be a risky fantasy option against a tough and hard-hitting Cardinals' secondary in Week 10.
October 24, 2008
Josh Morgan was limited in Thursday's practice while dealing with a groin ailment, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Morgan would allow Bryant Johnson another chance to reclaim his starting spot at split end if unable to play this weekend against Seattle.
October 20, 2008
Rookie Josh Morgan hauled in five receptions for 86 yards and a score in Sunday's loss to the Giants, and the 49ers have decided that he will remain the starting split end over Bryant Johnson, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View:The 49ers have some issues at quarterback with JT O'Sullivan, but Morgan is still worth targeting on the waiver wire while under the direction of coordinator Mike Martz. Bryant Johnson could fare well in the slot, as he did in Arizona, but will likely lose playing time to Arnaz Battle.
October 19, 2008
Josh Morgan scored a touchdown while grabbing five passes for 86 yards in San Francisco's loss to the Giants.

Our View:Morgan was all the rage in the preseason, putting on great performances, especially for a rookie. He finally had a break out game, and should be on the radar of fantasy owners.
October 19, 2008
John Czarnecki of FOX Sports states that Josh Morgan will start at receiver for the 49ers today.

Our View:His fantasy stock goes up, while Bryant Johnson's goes down, but he is still not a favorable option today against the Giants' ninth ranked pass defense, who will be out for blood while coming off an uspet loss to the Browns.
October 12, 2008
The 49ers worked wide receiver Josh Morgan into the action early during the Week 6 loss to the Eagles. The rookie replaced both Bryant Johnson and Arnaz Battle at times, the San Francisco Chronicle notes. Morgan caught one pass for 25 yards in the game.

Our View:Johnson did not have a catch in the game, and we have to wonder if the 49ers are ramping Morgan up to take over Bryant's starting job. Morgan was very impressive this preseason, but a staph infection set him back. Fantasy owners should probably ignore any 49ers receiver outside of Isaac Bruce.
October 5, 2008
Pro Football Weekly reports Josh Morgan is almost back to his normal playing weight after missing 15 pounds with a staph infection.

Our View:This is good news for the 49ers passing game. We are still waiting for a receiver to emerge from the pack in San Francisco, and Morgan has the upside to be the guy by the end of the season.
September 24, 2008
The undisclosed illness that Josh Morgan has been suffering from is finally known. Morgan confirmed that it was a staph infection, according to the Press Democrat.

Our View:Morgan has said that he suffered the injury during the team's game versus the Raiders. He said that the infield dirt caused the infection and it could have gotten bad if they didn't catch it.
September 22, 2008
Josh Morgan has been dealing with an illness that is being termed a flu like virus, and as a result the Fox Sports crew that was covering the Niners game on Sunday said that Morgan had lost roughly 15 pounds over the past month, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Now we have an idea why the 49ers early season camp phenom has been nearly invisible with only two receptions during the regular season. As he returns to health look for his role to grow, though he certainly isn't worth give a roster spot at the moment.
August 27, 2008
Rookie WR Josh Morgan is out for the 49ers' preseason finale against San Diego with an undisclosed illness, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Our View:The sixth-round rookie out of Virginia Tech should make the final roster, but will not likely be fantasy worthy while fighting for playing time behind Isaac Bruce, Bryant Johnson, Arnaz Battle, and Jason Hill.
August 17, 2008
Josh Morgan led the 49ers' receiving corps with five grabs for 114 yards and a score in Saturday's 34-6 win over the Packers. His touchdown covered 59-yards, and was delivered by J.T. O'Sullivan.

Our View:The sixth-round rookie out of Virginia Tech should make the final roster, but will not likely be fantasy worthy while fighting for playing time behind Isaac Bruce, Bryant Johnson, Arnaz Battle, and Jason Hill.
August 12, 2008
49ers wide receiver Josh Morgan could wind up being one of the starters for the offense because of how well he's played, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

Our View:Morgan is a rookie sixth-round selection, and those type of players rarely contribute immediately, especially at receiver, but Morgan has been the talk of camp so far. Don't go so far as to draft him on your fantasy squad, but pay close attention to how he does early in the season.
August 4, 2008
Rookie wide receiver Josh Morgan has been playing very well in training camp and had a strong scrimmage against the Raiders as the teams practiced together, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "Josh has been outstanding. We're really pleased with him. He's running like crazy and doing a lot of nice things," said offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

Our View:It will be tough for Morgan, a sixth-round selection, to beat out some of the 49ers veterans for playing time, but you never know when the next Marques Colston may come around.
June 19, 2008
Josh Morgan signed a four-year deal on Thursday afternoon following the final day of OTA practices, this according to the Sacramento Bee. The report noted that Morgan looked good in the May minicamp and in recent practices, showing a nice combination of size and athleticism.

Our View:Morgan is the type of wide receiver Nolan tends to favor, big and fast. At 220 pounds, he can block and run.
