The Cowboys, who have been wanting a veteran quarterback to help tutor Tony Romo, signed Brad Johnson to a three-year contract on Monday, according to the AP. In 15 games in 2006, Johnson completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,750 yards, nine TDs and 15 INTs.

The Vikings released Brad Johnson on Wednesday, according to the Sports Network. "Brad has been a true pro throughout his career and we wish him the best as he moves forward," said Vikings head coach Brad Childress. "Brad was an important part of the team and a guy who led by example on and off the field. He's a class act and a guy younger players could learn a lot from about what it takes to play in the NFL." Johnson completed 61.5 percent of his passes (270-of-439) for 2,750 yards, nine TDs and 15 INTs in 2006.

Brad Johnson was replaced by Tarvaris Jackson at the end of the third quarter on Sunday. The Vikings were down 26-7 at the time. Johnson completed 10-of-17 passes for 96 yards with one touchdown and no INTs, but he simply couldn't lead the Vikings to productive drives. With the playoffs basically out of reach, the Vikes could start Jackson in the final two games.
December 6, 2006
ESPN reports that Brad Johnson will remain the Vikings' starting quarterback despite his recent struggles. Johnson is coming off his worst performance of the year, completing just 11-of-26 passes for 73 yards, no touchdowns and four picks.
December 4, 2006
Brad Johnson could be replaced in the starting lineup in Week 14 by Tavaris Jackson, according to the AP. Jackson completed just 11-of-26 passes for 73 yards while tossing four interceptions in Sunday's loss to Chicago. "I have a few different options," he said. "I think that the biggest thing that you ask as we go is who is going to give us the best chance to win in the fourth quarter. We'll just look at that and see who we feel like that is."
