Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, DE Saturday 9/6, 2:58 PM CT
The Green Bay Press-Gazette indicates that Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila will be a game-time decision for Monday's game against Minnesota. He had been experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired knee.

Our View: He would have a good chance to generate favorable numbers while battling mediocre tackle Artis Hicks, but will remain a risky fantasy option due to his game-time status.
A.J. Hawk, LB Saturday 9/6, 2:51 PM CT
A.J. Hawk's status for Monday's game against Minnesota remains unknown, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The Packers' medical staff hasn't made a decision on Hawk, who completed practice for the third consecutive day. Asked whether he expects Hawk to be cleared for the game, coach Mike McCarthy said, "Hope so. Just taking all the information, and we'll make a decision. Nothing's changed as far as our plan for A.J. Giving him the opportunity to come back. Just didn't want to do too much too fast, but he feels great. We'll see how he feels in the morning."

Our View: Hawk feels 100 percent and has no pain or discomfort from the chest injury, but it is a matter as to whether the team feels he had enough time to heal properly and not be in jeopardy of being re-injured. We will keep you posted on his status.
Ryan Grant, RB Friday 9/5, 3:21 PM CT
Ryan Grant was held out of Friday's practice, but the team indicated it was just for precautionary reasons, according to the AP. He has been dealing with a hamstring ailment.

Our View: The team is yet to list his status, but it appears to be a good bet he will suit up for Monday's NFC North battle against the Vikings.
Shaun Bodiford, WR Friday 9/5, 3:16 PM CT
Shaun Bodiford has been placed on the IR after undergoing back surgery. The surgery will cause Bodiford to miss the entire 2008 season.
Ryan Grant, RB Friday 9/5, 9:55 AM CT
Packers' running back coach Edgar Bennett noted that Ryan Grant could handle a full workload of 20+ carries Monday night against Minnesota if needed, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He had been dealing with a hamstring ailment.

Our View: The Vikings' run defense presents a tough match-up, but fantasy owners should not sit Grant based solely on fear that he won't get a solid number of carries due to his hamstring.
A.J. Hawk, LB Friday 9/5, 9:48 AM CT
A.J. Hawk returned to practice Thursday, according to the AP. Hawk has been out since spraining a chest muscle in the Packers' preseason opener.

Our View: He was limited during practice, but was still right in the middle of the action. The team believed the injury was minor and he made rapid progress in his recovery, but is yet to officially get the green light to start on Monday night against Minnesota.
Ryan Grant, RB Thursday 9/4, 2:38 PM CT
Packers running back Ryan Grant was back at practice on Thursday after missing some time earlier in the week with a hamstring ailment, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Grant's status is not yet known for the Packers opening game, but he is helped by the fact the contest is on Monday night, giving him an extra day of rest.
Aaron Rodgers, QB Tuesday 9/2, 7:10 PM CT
Packers coach Mike McCarthy has said that he will not be going after a veteran quarterback to back up starter Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm are the guys, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "I’m not thinking about it. I’m thinking about getting these two young men ready to play," McCarthy said.

Our View: It is quite a leap of faith to give two rookies that responsibility, especially since the top backup at the position was a seventh-round pick just months ago.
Matt Flynn, QB Tuesday 9/2, 4:53 PM CT
Rookie quarterback and seventh-round pick Matt Flynn has officially been named the backup to starter Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He beat out fellow rookie and second-round pick Brian Brohm for the job.

Our View: Packers coach Mike McCarthy liked the way Flynn picked up the offense and performed in the preseason games. This means very little right now though, as the two will likely battle it out on a week-by-week basis.
Scott Wells, C Tuesday 9/2, 4:38 PM CT
Green Bay starting center Scott Wells will miss the team's opening game against the Vikings due to what was described as a "trunk" injury, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: We're not entirely sure what a trunk injury is, but it sounds painful. Wells will be one of two starters on the offensive line who will not play against the powerful Minnesota defensive line, as guard Josh Sitton is dealing with an ankle injury. All of this makes an already difficult match-up for Packers running back Ryan Grant even more trying. It may not be wise for fantasy owners to count on big things from Grant Monday night.
A.J. Hawk, LB Tuesday 9/2, 2:22 PM CT
A.J. Hawk did not participate in Tuesday's practice and only watched, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is recovering from a chest injury.

Our View: The team believes the injury is minor and he had been making rapid progress in his recovery. His status for Monday's showdown with Minnesota should be determined soon.
Atari Bigby, S Tuesday 9/2, 2:17 PM CT
Atari Bigby participated in Tuesday's practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He had been dealing with an ankle ailment.

Our View: He is hopeful to play in Week 1, and it is a good sign he practiced today without any issues.
Ryan Grant, RB Tuesday 9/2, 2:14 PM CT
Ryan Grant sat out Tuesday's practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is nursing a hamstring ailment.

Our View: His status for Monday's game against the division rival Vikings is yet to be determined.
Ryan Pickett, DT Tuesday 9/2, 10:20 AM CT
Ryan Pickett returned to the practice field Monday for the first time after missing all of training camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The Packers put Pickett through a wide array of tests over the weekend and finally cleared him to practice.

Our View: Pickett is unsure how many snaps he will receive in the season opener against Minnesota, but he will likely play a lot while trying to slow down last season's top running game, led by stud Adrian Peterson and backup Chester Taylor. The Packers cannot afford to be without him, as they are very thin at defensive tackle.
Jordy Nelson, WR Tuesday 9/2, 10:14 AM CT
Jordy Nelson is listed behind cornerback Will Blackmon on the Packers' depth chart at punt returner, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Nelson is listed as one of the two kick returners, joining Blackmon.

Our View: Nelson ranks near the bottom of the depth chart at receiver behind Ruvell Martin, and the rookie holds even less fantasy value without the lead gig on punt returns.
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, DE Monday 9/1, 6:10 PM CT
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila has returned to practice Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He had been experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired knee.

Our View: This is encouraging news that he was able to practice, but it remains to be determined if he will ultimately be able to play in the opener against the Vikings.
James Jones, WR Monday 9/1, 6:06 PM CT
James Jones missed practice Monday due to his knee injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: If he is unable to play Week 1 against Minnesota, Ruvell Martin would move into Jones' No. 3 spot at receiver.
Korey Hall, FB Monday 9/1, 4:50 PM CT
Korey Hall has held off John Kuhn for the starting job at fullback, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Hall isn't expected to steal goal-line carries or be active in the passing game, and holds no fantasy value.
Tory Humphrey, TE Monday 9/1, 4:45 PM CT
Tory Humphrey is listed as the No. 2 tight end ahead of rookie Jermichael Finley on the latest Packers' depth chart, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Humphrey should see the field often in two tight end sets, but won't likely be productive enough to make him fantasy worthy.
Abdul Hodge, LB Monday 9/1, 4:40 PM CT
Abdul Hodge has been released by the Packers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Hodge enjoyed a solid career at the University of Iowa, but injuries spoiled his potential to make an impact in the NFL. The Packers are also deep at linebacker, which led to his release.
Jon Ryan, P Monday 9/1, 3:21 PM CT
The Green Bay Packers have released punter Jon Ryan, according to Packers.com. The team signed punter Derrick Frost earlier in the day.

Our View: This is somewhat of a surprise as Ryan had a very solid season for the Packers last season, but he's sure to catch on somewhere.
Derrick Frost, P Monday 9/1, 10:24 AM CT
Punter Derrick Frost has signed with the Green Bay Packers, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: The Packers have Jon Ryan as their current punter, and he also is the holder on field goals. It is unknown if this will affect his place on the team.
Brian Brohm, QB Monday 9/1, 8:55 AM CT
Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn will be the Packers backup quarterbacks going into Week 1, as the team has made no moves to acquire a veteran to put in place behind Aaron Rodgers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: Brohm and Flynn are rookies, so if something happens to Rodgers and they need to rely on one of them, it could be a difficult season for the Packers.
