Dontarrious Thomas, LB Monday 10/13, 2:08 PM CT
Dontarrious Thomas has inked with the Vikings, according to the Star Tribune. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. This is Thomas' second stint with the Vikings, as he served with the club from 2004-07.

Our View: The Vikings are gravely hurting at linebacker right now with star EJ Henderson (foot) out for the season, and with his replacement, David Herron, sustaining several injuries Sunday. Coach Brad Childress said Thomas should be able to play Sunday at Chicago, but added that it’s unclear whether Thomas will play strictly in the middle or rotate between all three spots like he did during his first stint with the team. He is worth a look as a flier in IDP leagues.
Adrian Peterson, RB Sunday 10/12, 9:31 PM CT
Running back Adrian Peterson received treatment for a sore left wrist after the Week 6 win over the Lions, the Minneapolis Star Tribune notes. He says his wrist is "all right."

Our View: We don't imagine this will be a problem moving forward, but we'll be sure to follow up.
Kevin Williams, DT Sunday 10/12, 4:13 PM CT
Defensive tackle Kevin Williams posted eight solo tackles and four sacks in the Week 6 victory over Detroit.

Our View: Williams has posted six or more tackles in four of six games this sesaon, along with six sacks in the past four games.
Adrian Peterson, RB Sunday 10/12, 4:06 PM CT
Running back Adrian Peterson compiled 25 carries for 111 yards in the Week 6 win over Detroit.

Our View: Peterson has been somewhat of a disappointment this year considering his lofty draft status. This week's performance represented his first 100-yard effort since Week 2, and Peterson has failed to score a touchdown in three of the past four weeks.
Bernard Berrian, WR Sunday 10/12, 4:04 PM CT
Wide receiver Bernard Berrian posted five receptions for 131 yards and an 86 yard touchdown in the Week 6 victory over Detroit.

Our View: In the past two games, Berrian has compiled 11 receptions for 241 yards and two scores. It's becoming very apparent that Berrian and Frerotte are on the same sheet of music in the passing offense.
Gus Frerotte, QB Sunday 10/12, 3:57 PM CT
Quarterback Gus Frerrote completed 18-of-33 passes for 296 yards and one touchdown against one interception in the Week 6 win over Detroit.

Our View: Frerotte isn't setting the fantasy world on fire, but he has passed for 222 or more yards in each of the past three weeks. If the Vikings wide receiver corps can get healthy, Frerotte could be a serviceable fantasy backup as the season progresses.
David Herron Jr., LB Sunday 10/12, 1:10 PM CT
Linebacker David Herron exited the game against Detroit in the second quarter with a leg injury.

Our View: Herron was replacing E.J. Henderson, who has been placed on injured reserve due to a foot injury. No additional information is currently available.
Sidney Rice, WR Sunday 10/12, 10:48 AM CT
Vikings inactives: QB John David Booty (3rd), WR Sidney Rice, DB Madieu Williams, RB Thomas Tapeh, T Drew Radovich, T Marcus Johnson, FB Jeff Dugan, DT Letroy Guion.

Our View: Bernard Berrian (knee) is active and Bobby Wade will move into the starting lineup in place of Sidney Rice (knee).
Visanthe Shiancoe, TE Sunday 10/12, 7:59 AM CT
Visanthe Shiancoe should remain productive today against the Lions 29th ranked pass defense, as he leads the Vikings in touchdown grabs (2) and ranks third in receptions (12), according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He has emerged as one of quarterback Gus Frerotte's favorite targets, and is a solid fantasy option for today.
Adrian Peterson, RB Sunday 10/12, 7:54 AM CT
Adrian Peterson hasn't reached 100-rushing yards in his last three outings, but should get on track and excel today at home against the Lions, according to the Star Tribune. The Lions are ranked near the cellar in run defense, while giving up an average of 180 yards per game.

Our View: Peterson also had 116 yards rushing and two touchdowns last season in the Vikings' 42-10 win over the Lions at the Metrodome. He looks to play up to high expectations as a first-round fantasy pick today.
Madieu Williams, S Saturday 10/11, 8:22 AM CT
Vikings safety Madieu Williams has been practicing for two weeks, and though it is unlikely he will play Sunday, his return could be soon, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Williams had a solid year last season, compiling 74 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, one force fumble and one recovery. When healthy, he can help owners in IDP leagues, but it just depends on when his ailing neck gets totally healthy.
Sidney Rice, WR Friday 10/10, 12:57 PM CT
Minnesota wide receiver Sidney Rice was on the practice field for the Vikings on Friday, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Our View: Rice has been dealing with knee issues, but there is a chance he will be able to play Week 6 when Minnesota takes on the Lions.
Bernard Berrian, WR Friday 10/10, 12:41 PM CT
Vikings wideout Bernard Berrian was practicing on Friday, one day after being held out due to knee and toe maladies, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Our View: If Berrian does play, he can certainly help out fantasy owners, as the Vikes take on the Detroit Lions. However, his status is not known yet.
Bernard Berrian, WR Thursday 10/9, 3:48 PM CT
Bernard Berrian was held out of Thursday's practice due to his knee injury, according to the Star Tribune. Berrian has also been bothered by a sore big toe on his right foot this season.

Our View: He has not been ruled out for Week 6, and has a chance to play if he can practice Friday. He burned the Saints for 110 receiving yards and a score in Monday's exciting win, and has another favorable match-up this weekend against the Lions' 29th ranked pass defense.
Ben Leber, LB Thursday 10/9, 10:30 AM CT
Ben Leber will start in place of the injured E.J. Henderson at middle linebacker this weekend against Detroit, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View: Leber is not as solid as Henderson, but could still hold his own while replacing him in the middle, making him a viable option as a No. 3 linebacker for IDP leagues. The Vikings' run defense should remain in good shape as well.
Benny Sapp, CB Wednesday 10/8, 11:54 PM CT
Vikings cornerback Benny Sapp was limited in practice on Wednesday due to a tight hamstring, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View: Sapp has only recorded one tackle in 2008 for the Vikings and has no fantasy value.
Jim Kleinsasser, TE Wednesday 10/8, 10:26 PM CT
Jim Kleinsasser sat out the Vikings practice on Wednesday with an injured foot, according Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View: Kleinsasser has only caught two passes this year and does not have any fantasy value.
Sidney Rice, WR Wednesday 10/8, 9:27 PM CT
Sidney Rice was limited in practice on Wednesday with an injured knee, according to CBSSportsline.com.

Our View: Rice was almost ready for the Vikings game in Week 5 but the team held him out. Even though he was limited today it seems like he will be ready to go for Week 6.
Erin Henderson, LB Wednesday 10/8, 5:31 PM CT
Linebacker Erin Henderson missed practice on Wednesday due to a concussion, according to the AP. was injured on Monday night against the Saints while covering a punt. He was leveled by a blind-side hit from Jo-Lonn Dunbar that helped spring Reggie Bush for his first touchdown of the game.

Our View: Even if he does recover in time to play, he does not hold much fantasy value. He is more of a special teams player than anything.
Bernard Berrian, WR Wednesday 10/8, 4:49 PM CT
Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian was limited in practice on Wednesday due to an injured knee, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: It was a rough start to the season for Berrian but in the recent weeks he has become the favorite target for Gus Frerotte. In his past three games Berrian has gone over 75 yards and finally reached the end zone against the Saints.
Chris Kluwe, P Wednesday 10/8, 4:41 PM CT
The Vikings brought in punters on Wednesday for tryouts. Head coach Brad Childress was not pleased with Chris Kluwe kicking the ball to Reggie Bush on Monday night. Childress told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, "If he can't do that (directional kicking), I will find somebody who can kick the ball out of bounds."

Our View: The quotes from Childress are not exactly votes of confidence for the punter. This week if Kluwe is told to kick the ball out of bounds, he might want to do that.
Gus Frerotte, QB Tuesday 10/7, 9:48 PM CT
Gus Frerotte took a beating in the Vikings Monday night game against the Saints and on Tuesday the veteran said he was feeling fine. Frerotte told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, "I was just dizzy. Some birds flying around my head."

Our View: Even though Frerotte's number are not worth much of a fantasy look, he is doing a good job leading the Vikings offense.
Antoine Winfield, CB Tuesday 10/7, 9:35 PM CT
Antoine Winfield had a career game on Monday night against the Saints and was rewarded with the NFC defensive player of the week, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View: Winfield recorded a sack, forced fumble and a fumble recovery on one play in the second quarter, setting up a touchdown. He also returned a block field goal for a touchdown.
Chris Kluwe, P Tuesday 10/7, 7:58 AM CT
Vikings coach Brad Childress was none too pleased with punter Chris Kluwe for kicking the ball to Reggie Bush Monday night, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "When you say to somebody kick the ball out of bounds, that's what you expect to happen. That's what I expect to happen with a professional football kicker. You know what? If he can't do that, I'll find someone that can kick the ball out of bounds," Childress remarked.

Our View: Kluwe said after the game that he thought he did well, even though Bush scored twice on punt returns. It may be good for his future employment to do what the coach says from here on out.
Bernard Berrian, WR Monday 10/6, 11:55 PM CT
Bernard Berrian caught six passes for 110 yards and a late score as the Vikings go to option in the passing game with Sidney Rice on the sidelines because of his knee injury on Monday against the Saints.

Our View: Berrian certainly had a poor start to the year but since the club went to Gus Frerotte behind center three games ago Berrian has gone over 75-yards each game though tonight marks the first time that he found the end zone.
Adrian Peterson, RB Monday 10/6, 11:42 PM CT
Adrian Peterson carried the ball 21 times for an anemic total of 32 rushing yards in the Vikings Monday night victory over the Saints.

Our View: AP will eventually bust loose and make someone pay for being held down, but the guy is maddeningly inconsistent from week to week. In 19 career outings this was the fifth time he was held to 45 or fewer yards and he has now gone three straight outings without an 85-yard effort.
Gus Frerotte, QB Monday 10/6, 11:34 PM CT
Gus Frerotte threw a touchdown and no interceptions while completing 19 of 36 passes for 222 yards in the Vikings victory over the Saints.

Our View: Frerotte was mighty successful given that the Vikings vaunted ground attack totaled just 44 net yards rushing on the night. He continues to do a much better job leading the offense than Tarvaris Jackson ever has.
Ryan Longwell, K Monday 10/6, 11:28 PM CT
Ryan Longwell kicked the game winning field goal of 30 yards with :13 seconds left as the Vikings came back to defeat the Saints 30-27.

Our View: Longwell was perfect on the night hitting all three of his field goals (53, 33, 30) as well as all three of his extra points.
Sidney Rice, WR Monday 10/6, 6:50 PM CT
The following players are inactive for the Vikings in their Monday Night Matchup with the Saints, according to Saints Official Website. The players are as follows: DT Letroy Guion, FB Thomas Tapeh, S Madieu Williams, WR Sidney Rice, T Marcus Johnson, T Drew Radovich, John David Booty (3rd QB) and CB Benny Sapp.

Our View: Rice was thought to be active this week despite dealing with the PCL injury in his knee, but apparently he just isn't healthy enough to give it a go on this night. Bernard Berrian will have to step up his play with the absence of Rice.
E.J. Henderson, LB Monday 10/6, 5:49 PM CT
E.J. Henderson has been placed on the season ending injured reserve list due to two dislocated toes, according to the Kansas City Star. Henderson's roster spot will likely be taken by LT Bryant McKinnie.

Our View: Henderson had missed only three games in his six year career, and coming off a season of 119 tackles this is a huge loss to the Vikes linebacking corps as well as those IDP owners who had counted on E.J. in '08.
Bernard Berrian, WR Sunday 10/5, 10:54 PM CT
Bernard Berrian made the trip with the Vikings to New Orleans and all indications are that he will play on Monday night, according to Vikings Now.

Our View: If Berrian plays on Monday night he will have a favorable match-up against the much maligned secondary.
E.J. Henderson, LB Sunday 10/5, 4:53 PM CT
Linebacker E.J. Henderson did not travel with the Vikings for their Week 5 game in New Orleans. He was listed as doubtful due to two dislocated toes on his left foot. Head coach Brad Childress has declined to address reports that Henderson could miss a month, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. David Herron will likely start in Henderson's place.

Our View: This news shouldn't surprise anyone, given previous reports about Henderson. IDP fantasy owners should plan on being without E.J. for a few weeks.
Bernard Berrian, WR Sunday 10/5, 9:45 AM CT
Wide receiver Bernard Berrian (questionable, knee) practiced during the brief portion that was open to the media Saturday and is optimistic that he will play against New Orleans on Monday night, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Berrian was limited in practice Friday, and the Saturday workout was light without pads. If you have a better option on your roster you will probably want to insert that player, as we won't know Berrian's true status until Monday night.
E.J. Henderson, LB Saturday 10/4, 9:07 AM CT
E.J. Henderson is simply listed as doubtful for this weekend, but not only is he unlikely to play this weekend, he could miss at least a month with two dislocated toes in his left foot, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "It's kind of hard to tell really what is going on structurally," coach Brad Childress said. "They just can't get as good of feel as they'd like to."

Our View: The exact length of Henderson's absence won't be determined until the swelling subsides. Surgery could be an option. David Herron will fill in at middle linebacker while Henderson is out.
Madieu Williams, S Saturday 10/4, 7:58 AM CT
Madieu Williams has been ruled out for Monday's game against New Orleans. He has yet to play this year due to a pinched nerve in his neck.

Our View: Williams is IDP-worthy when he's healthy, so hopefully he'll be ready in Week 6 against Detroit.
Gus Frerotte, QB Friday 10/3, 6:19 PM CT
With his two top wide receivers (Bernard Berrian and Sidney Rice) and his tight end listed as questionable this week, it could be a rough night for Gus Frerotte on Monday in New Orleans.

Our View: The Vikings do not have much depth at the position. Berrian is more likely to play than Rice.
Sidney Rice, WR Friday 10/3, 6:17 PM CT
Wideout Sidney Rice is listed as questionable for Monday Night Football this week according to the injury report. He has a torn PCL in his knee.

Our View: Rice played sparingly last weekend and has just three catches on the season. As waiver wire options continue to impress, Rice is droppable in some leagues.
Bernard Berrian, WR Friday 10/3, 5:02 PM CT
Bernard Berrian is questionable for Sunday according to the Star-Tribune due to a knee injury.

Our View: After Berrian's trash talking of Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie earlier in the week, we would be surprised if his knee keeps him out of Monday Night's matchup.
Bernard Berrian, WR Thursday 10/2, 3:53 PM CT
Vikings wideout Bernard Berrian is none too impressed with Saints corner Mike McKenzie, according to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press. "He’s an old veteran. He’s going to be a smart player, but I don’t think the skill is there as much as it used to be," Berrian remarked.

Our View: Strange comment considering it's not like Berrian has set the world on fire after signing a big-money deal with Minnesota, catching just 11 passes for 195 yards and no touchdowns. If he continues at the same rate, Minnesota would get 44 catches for 780 yards for their $16 million in guaranteed money.
E.J. Henderson, LB Thursday 10/2, 2:39 PM CT
Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson is unlikely to play on Sunday due to continued swelling in dislocated toes, and he is wearing a walking boot, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Henderson did not attend practice on Thursday, and until the swelling in his toes subsides, there is no telling how serious the injury is.
Bryant McKinnie, T Wednesday 10/1, 11:25 PM CT
Bryant McKinnie has served his four game suspension and is ready to return to the Vikings lineup in Week 5, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: McKinnie's replacement, Artis Hicks, has give up three-and-a-half sacks and the Vikings as a whole line have surrendered 10 total sacks. With McKinnie returning to the line, he should add some stability.
Darrion Scott, DE Wednesday 10/1, 10:54 AM CT
Darrion Scott has reportedly been reinstated by the NFL following his three-game suspension, according to Scout.com.

Our View: His contract with the Vikings expired in February. He had off-the-field problems that led to his suspension. The 27-year-old defensive end had free agent visits with the Patriots and Redskins earlier this year.
