JaMarcus Russell, QB Friday 11/21, 7:21 PM CT
JaMarcus Russell fully practiced Friday, according to the Oakland Tribune. He had been nursing a knee ailment.

Our View: He is expected to start at quarterback in a favorable match-up against the Broncos' 29th ranked pass defense, but may not be able to take advantage as he holds a poor 70.8 efficiency rating and 50.4 completion percentage.
Darren McFadden, RB Friday 11/21, 5:40 PM CT
Darren McFadden fully practiced Friday, according to the Raiders' official website. He had been dealing with turf toe.

Our View: McFadden should be fine for Week 12 at Denver, and is worth a look as a flex option while backing up Justin Fargas.
Ronald Curry, WR Friday 11/21, 3:57 PM CT
The Contra Costa Times reports that Raiders coach Tom Cable said Ronald Curry will start at flanker for the Raiders in Week 12.

Our View: Run out and pick him up! On second thought, don't. Curry is terribly inconsistent by himself, but mix in the fact that he has one of the league's worst quarterbacks chucking balls all over the place and it's clear that he is dead weight in fantasy football.
Javon Walker, WR Thursday 11/20, 7:25 PM CT
The Raiders will put wide receiver Javon Walker on season-ending injured reserve very soon, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Walker has an injury to his left foot, and this move was fully expected. Al Davis shouldn't have talked Walker out of retirement when Walker told him that's what he wanted to do this summer, as he could have saved himself many millions of dollars.
Ronald Curry, WR Thursday 11/20, 7:17 PM CT
Wide receiver Ronald Curry could see more snaps this week with Chaz Schilens limited due to injury, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Curry broke out with six catches for 73 yards last week, and Schilens hasn't caught a pass in three games, but the team insists that Schilens will remain the team's starting wideout.
Nnamdi Asomugha, CB Thursday 11/20, 11:54 AM CT
Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan didn't hold back in his praise of Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. "He is the most underrated football player in the history of the game," Shanahan tells NFL.com. "I can’t believe this guy hasn’t been to the Pro Bowl or people don’t talk about him all the time. He is off the charts and as good as it gets." The Raiders face the Broncos this Sunday.

Our View: We agree that Asomugha doesn't get the attention he deserves, but our knowledge of the NFL's history isn't complete enough to verify the first part of Shanny's statement. Considering Shanahan has watched Champ Bailey operate over the past five years, this is high praise.
Junius Coston, C Thursday 11/20, 7:24 AM CT
The Raiders have signed offensive lineman Junius Coston, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He started seven games at right guard for the Packers last season, but won't be ready to contribute with Oakland as he needs to learn a new blocking system.
Derrick Burgess, DE Thursday 11/20, 7:22 AM CT
Derrick Burgess fully practiced Wednesday for the first time since partially tearing his triceps October 6, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He is expected to start Sunday, and will provide a boost to the defense as the Raiders contend with Jay Cutler and the Broncos' efficient passing attack.
Michael Bush, RB Thursday 11/20, 7:18 AM CT
Michael Bush began his conversion from running back to fullback Wednesday, according to the SF Chronicle. Bush said, "Do I think I'm a fullback? No. I'm doing it, so they can't say I'm not helping the team."

Our View: Justin Fargas and Darren McFadden are both healthy again, and coach Tom Cable noted that moving to fullback is Bush's only chance to play. Bush could snipe a few goal-line scores, but will be a non-factor in yardage-heavy leagues.
Jason Davis, FB Tuesday 11/18, 10:30 PM CT
The Raiders have released Jason Davis, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View: Luke Lawton is the only remaining fullback on the Raiders' roster. Davis didn't have any fantasy value.
Darren McFadden, RB Tuesday 11/18, 12:41 PM CT
Darren McFadden left Week 11 feeling fine with no issues related to his long bout with turf toe, and he is hopeful his role will increase going forward, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View: McFadden practically has fresh legs with only 70 carries of punishment this season, and could be an effective weapon down the stretch while opposing defenses start to get tired and weary. He is worth targeting if dangling on the waiver wire in standard leagues.
Derrick Burgess, DE Tuesday 11/18, 10:45 AM CT
Derrick Burgess, who missed six games with a partially torn triceps, could return to action in Week 12 at rival Denver, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He is the Raiders' best pass rusher, and would provide a boost to their defense while contending with Jay Cutler and the Broncos' dynamic passing attack.
Michael Bush, RB Monday 11/17, 6:50 PM CT
The Sacramento Bee reports that coach Tom Cable wants running back Michael Bush to convert to a fullback. However, Bush doesn't want to be a fullback. Cable has approached him privately about playing the position, but he wants to be a tailback.

Our View: Since the return of Justin Fargas, Bush has mostly remained insignificant in fantasy leagues.
Ben Troupe, TE Monday 11/17, 6:46 PM CT
ProFootballTalk.com reports that the Raiders have released tight end Ben Troupe. Last month, the Raiders placed Troupe on injured reserve with a foot injury.

Our View: Troupe will now go on waivers but don't expect him to be picked up as he will be unable to compete for the remainder of the season due to his injury.
Ronald Curry, WR Monday 11/17, 6:33 PM CT
Despite grabbing six balls for 73 yards, wide receiver Ronald Curry will remain a backup, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View: It was by far his best performance of the season, but fantasy players shouldn't get excited. He doesn't figure to see major opportunities going forward.
Darren McFadden, RB Sunday 11/16, 8:48 PM CT
The Raiders didn't use the Wildcat formation at all Sunday like they were expected to, which the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones believes is an indication that Darren McFadden is still not at 100 percent. McFadden, who received just three carries, admitted his feet were a bit sore after the game.

Our View: This doesn't come as a surprise, as Run-DMC was limited in Friday's practice. It's beginning to look more and more like this will be a lost season for the rookie.
Nnamdi Asomugha, CB Sunday 11/16, 4:54 PM CT
Nnamdi Asomugha exited the game against Miami in the first half with a hand injury.

Our View: No additional information is currently available.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Sunday 11/16, 4:22 PM CT
A Raiders' team source tells ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that Jim Fassel recently sent a handwritten letter to Oakland owner Al Davis, expressing his respect and admiration for Davis and his desire to coach the embattled franchise.

Our View: Fassel last worked in the league as offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens from 2003 until his dismissal midway through the 2006 season. He was also the head coach of the New York Giants from 1997 until the team fired him after the 2003 season.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Sunday 11/16, 1:04 PM CT
JaMarcus Russell left the game against Miami in the second quarter with a right leg injury.

Our View: Russell, who entered the game nursing a sore knee, was replaced in the lineup by Marques Tuiasosopo.
Javon Walker, WR Sunday 11/16, 10:59 AM CT
Raiders inactives: QB Andrew Walter (3rd), DB Michael Waddell, RB Jason Davis, DE Derrick Burgess, LB Ricky Brown, C Jake Grove, OT James Marten, WR Javon Walker.

Our View: JaMarcus Russell (knee) and Darren McFadden (toe) are active, but it would require a great leap of faith to have either player in your fantasy lineup this week.
Gibril Wilson, S Saturday 11/15, 7:40 AM CT
Gibril Wilson has been hindered by a lower-back injury, but should start Sunday at Miami, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Wilson would be a risky fantasy option while slowed by an injury, but he is among the best fantasy defensive backs, as he racked up 76 tackles (55 solo), one fumble recovery and one interception this season.
Ronald Curry, WR Saturday 11/15, 7:36 AM CT
Ronald Curry could return to the starting lineup in Week 11 if Chaz Schilens is unable to play due to his sprained ankle, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Curry failed to make an impact as a starter earlier in the season, and would not merit fantasy consideration if given a chance to redeem himself against Miami.
Justin Miller, CB Saturday 11/15, 7:32 AM CT
Justin Miller will handle kickoff returns against Miami, unseating Johnnie Lee Higgins from the job, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Miller holds no fantasy value as a reserve defensive back, but is worth a look in deeper leagues that award points for return yardage.
Darren McFadden, RB Saturday 11/15, 7:29 AM CT
Darren McFadden was limited in Friday's practice while recovering from turf toe, but coach Tom Cable expects him to play in Week 11 at Miami, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He will see action, but it remains to be seen how much he will cut into Justin Fargas' workload. McFadden should only be considered as a flex option in his first game back.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Friday 11/14, 3:46 PM CT
JaMarcus Russell is expected to return to his starting post at quarterback in Week 11 against Miami following his bout with a knee injury, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View: Russell has struggled this season with a dismal 69 efficiency rating, and won't likely to able to exploit the Dolphins' 24th ranked pass defense.
John Wade, G Friday 11/14, 7:15 AM CT
John Wade will start at center in Week 11 over the injured Jake Grove (calf), according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Grove is not a solid pro, but was the starting center, and the timing and rhythm of the offense could be compromised with Wade.
Justin Miller, CB Friday 11/14, 7:10 AM CT
Justin Miller is pushing Johnnie Lee Higgins for the kick-return job, according to the SF Chronicle. Miller said, "It's great to just get out here and be part of a team, just have something to do."

Our View: Miller will provide adequate depth at cornerback, and could hold some fantasy value in deeper leagues that award points for return yardage.
Ashley Lelie, WR Thursday 11/13, 9:06 PM CT
With news that Javon Walker is out for the year, Ashley Lelie will be inserted into the starting lineup for Week 11, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View: Lelie was chosen over Ronald Curry (how far into the doghouse has he fallen?), and though he can be a nice deep threat, the Raiders passing attack has been so abysmal that we wouldn't recommend starting Lelie this weekend unless you play in a league that requires you to start six wide receivers.
Gibril Wilson, S Thursday 11/13, 9:02 PM CT
Gibril Wilson sat out practice on Thursday due to a sore lower back, according to ESPN.

Our View: There wasn't much heads up given about this injury, so we are hoping that it was merely a day of rest for Wilson. Make sure he practices on Friday before you insert him in your lineup.
Derrick Burgess, DE Thursday 11/13, 8:59 PM CT
Derrick Burgess (triceps) missed practice on Thursday and appears unlikely to play in Week 11 despite practicing on Wednesday, according to ESPN. "Because he's been out a while, obviously there's some fatigue," HC Tom Cable said.

Our View: Burgess has been out since getting hurt in practice on October 6th, and though he appears to be getting closer, Week 12 appears to be his target return date.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Thursday 11/13, 8:45 PM CT
JaMarcus Russell (knee) was able to handle most of the snaps at practice on Thursday and appears likely to return to action this weekend, according to ESPN. "[Russell] was good today," HC Tom Cable said. "He was much better and took the majority of reps in practice."

Our View: Raiders fans rejoice. OK, maybe not, but for those of you who have a masochistic bent, feel free to go with Russell this weekend. Hopefully you have better options. If you don't, you likely aren't paying attention anyway.
Darren McFadden, RB Thursday 11/13, 8:29 PM CT
Darren McFadden appears likely to play in Week 11, according to the Contra Costa Times. “Yesterday, a lot of the trainers were telling me I had a different pep about myself yesterday at practice,” McFadden said. “My whole demeanor changed being back out there.”

Our View: McFadden is no longer wearing the protective boot and he has been running and cutting without much concern at practice. How much of the workload he will steal from Justin Fargas is unknown though it certainly appears that he will play a role against the Dolphins.
Javon Walker, WR Thursday 11/13, 6:39 PM CT
Javon Walker will miss the rest of the season due to an injured left foot, according to the Contra Costa Times. “I’m done for the season,” Walker said. “They’ve got to put some screws in.”

Our View: The team hasn't confirmed Walker's diagnosis, but there is no reason to doubt his words. Walker was given a $12 million signing bonus and a million dollars in salary this season and for that bounty he gave the Raiders 15 receptions, 196 yards and one score in what was yet another great signing for Al Davis.
Darren McFadden, RB Thursday 11/13, 3:56 PM CT
Running back Darren McFadden was on the practice field for the Raiders on Thursday, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: McFadden has missed time due to turf toe on both of his feet, and he did not practice on Wednesday, so his status for Sunday is still questionable at this point.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Thursday 11/13, 3:54 PM CT
Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell was on the practice field for the team on Thursday, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Russell missed last week's game due to a knee injury, but he was only a limited participant in practice up until now. His availability is still in question, but it is likely he will go.
Derrick Burgess, DE Thursday 11/13, 3:52 PM CT
Raiders defensive end Derrick Burgess was not with the team as they were starting practice, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Burgess has missed five games due to a torn triceps muscle. He is effective at rushing the passer when healthy, and has 1.5 sacks on the year.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Wednesday 11/12, 6:03 PM CT
Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell was not on the practice field on Wednesday because of an injury to his knee, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Russell did not play in the Raiders Week 10 game because of the injury but head coach Tom Cable is optimistic that his quarterback will be ready for Week 11.
Darren McFadden, RB Wednesday 11/12, 5:33 PM CT
Running back Darren McFadden did not practice on Wednesday because of a toe injury, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Head coach Tom Cable is optimistic that McFadden will be able to play this weekend.
Justin Miller, CB Wednesday 11/12, 5:18 PM CT
Justin Miller was released by the Jets to make room for Ty Law. Miller was not out of work for very long, on Wednesday he was signed by the Oakland Raiders, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Since the Raiders released Deangelo Hall they have been looking for some depth at corner. That is exactly what Miller will give the defense.
John Madsen, TE Wednesday 11/12, 5:15 PM CT
Tight end John Madsen was released by the Raiders on Wednesday, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Madsen has only appeared in four games this year and did not hold any fantasy value.
Jeff Otis, QB Wednesday 11/12, 1:35 PM CT
Quarterback Jeff Otis has been signed to the Raiders' practice squad, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Otis holds no fantasy value and was added to provide a healthy arm for practice with JaMarcus Russell and Andrew Walter both banged up.
Darren McFadden, RB Tuesday 11/11, 1:55 PM CT
Coach Tom Cable is optimistic Darren McFadden will be able to return to the gridiron in Week 11 at Miami, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View: McFadden is still dealing with turf toe and his status could depend on his tolerance for the injury. We will keep you posted on his participation in practice throughout the week.
Javon Walker, WR Monday 11/10, 6:57 PM CT
Javon Walker had an MRI on Monday on his injured ankle, according to the Sacramento Bee. The results will not be known until Wednesday, but the wide receiver did finish Sunday's game.

Our View: Walker has been a huge disappointment this season. He was expected to be a No. 1 receiver in Oakland but he has just 15 catches and one touchdown through eight games.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Monday 11/10, 6:16 PM CT
The Oakland Tribune reports that JaMarcus Russell is dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee. The injury apparently happened last Thursday, the day Russell missed the final eight plays for what Cable said was simply a “precaution” and “being smart.” Russell said there was simply too much pain to practice and it didn’t respond well enough to three days of treatment, but he is hopeful to return this week.

Our View: Russell has been pretty terrible this season as he has completed less than 50 percent of his passes and holds a meager 69.0 quarterback rating.
Darren McFadden, RB Monday 11/10, 4:36 PM CT
Darren McFadden (toe) didn't try to play yesterday and missed his third straight game, according to the Sacramento Bee. And he won't try to use medicine to get on the field. "Nah, I ain't taking no shot," McFadden said. "The last time I took a shot (Buffalo), it made it worse on me, so that's something I'm not gonna do again."

Our View: McFadden has been a fantasy disappointment this year, but he could still be a factor in the playoffs. His keeper status should remain unaffected.
Jake Grove, C Monday 11/10, 7:09 AM CT
It has been revealed that Jake Grove injured his calf when forced out of action in Sunday's game against Carolina, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: Grove is not a solid pro, but was the Raiders' starting center, and the timing and rhythm of the offense will be compromised if he is forced to miss time with the injury.
Darren McFadden, RB Monday 11/10, 7:06 AM CT
Darren McFadden missed his third straight game Sunday due to turf toe, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: The Raiders are not in playoff contention, and won't rush their prized rookie back into action with the risk of making his injury worse. Even when he does return, he will likely be limited, meaning his fantasy stock shall remain low.
Chaz Schilens, WR Sunday 11/9, 11:30 PM CT
Raiders receiver Chaz Schilens suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 10, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View: The Raiders did not say how serious the injury was or what his status for next week is.
Andrew Walter, QB Sunday 11/9, 5:47 PM CT
Quarterback Andrew Walter tweaked his right ankle in the fourth quarter of the Week 10 game against the Panthers. Marques Tuiasosopo entered the game. Walter entered the week with a right calf injury.

Our View: The Raiders offense stinks no matter who is under center.
Jake Grove, C Sunday 11/9, 5:24 PM CT
Center Jake Grove suffered an injury during the Week 10 game against the Panthers and was replaced by Chris Morris, the FOX telecast notes.

Our View: As you can tell, we're vague on the details at this point. The Raiders offense can hardly get worse, so maybe the switch to Morris will help.
Chaz Schilens, WR Sunday 11/9, 5:15 PM CT
Wide receiver Chaz Schilens limped off the field in the third quarter of the Week 10 game against the Panthers. He may have sprained his right ankle.

Our View: The rookie has been starting, but he has no fantasy value. We'll update his status once more is known.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Sunday 11/9, 2:05 PM CT
Week 10 inactives: QB JaMarcus Russell, RB Darren McFadden, RB Jason Davis, DE Derrick Burgess, LB Ricky Brown, OT James Marten, C John Wade, WR Ronald Curry.

Our View: Readers shouldn't be surprised by this noteworthy list, as Russell, McFadden, and Burgess weren't expected to play and Curry has fallen out of favor. Andrew Walter is starting at quarterback, and Justin Fargas should see a heavy dose as the starting tailback.
Gibril Wilson, S Sunday 11/9, 11:53 AM CT
According to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network, many Raiders want out of Oakland, even if it means giving back their bonus money. Wide receiver Javon Walker and safety Gibril Wilson are two prominent names mentioned by Schefter. It's also believed that cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has refused to sign a long-term deal because of the uncertain situation.

Our View: What?! We thought everyone was happy working for Al Davis. Yes, that's sarcasm. Fantasy owners haven't been counting on the Raiders too much lately, and it's probably not a good idea to bet on this club coming together over the second half.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Saturday 11/8, 5:23 PM CT
ESPN.com confirms that JaMarcus Russell will not start Sunday's game against Carolina because of right knee tendinitis.

Our View: Russell has completed just 48.6 percent of his passes this season and has a meager 69.0 Quarterback Rating. He is one of the worst starting quarterbacks to have on your fantasy rosters.
Andrew Walter, QB Saturday 11/8, 5:21 PM CT
ESPN.com reports that quarterback Andrew Walter will start against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Starter JaMarcus Russell is battling knee tendinitis.

Our View: Finally, the Raiders will see what JaMarcus Russell's backup can do. Russell has struggled badly this season. Walter has little to no fantasy value at this point despite the start.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Saturday 11/8, 2:05 PM CT
Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell will probably not be able to play on Sunday due to knee tendinitis, according to the National Football Post.

Our View: Russell was horrific last week, and he hasn't been very good overall this season, completing less than 50 percent of his passes. Andrew Walter will start in his place, but should not be used for fantasy purposes.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Friday 11/7, 1:52 PM CT
JaMarcus Russell missed Friday's practice, due to his knee tendinitis, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: He did not finish Thursday's practice, but it was said to be for precaution. His status for Week 10 is yet to be determined, but should not be considered for fantasy lineups anyway against a tough Panthers' defense.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Friday 11/7, 1:23 PM CT
DeAngelo Hall has signed a one-year deal with the Redskins, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Hall will help shore up a thin Redskins' secondary, and should earn a starting spot at right cornerback opposite Shawn Springs. He contributed three interceptions prior to his release by Oakland.
Darren McFadden, RB Friday 11/7, 1:05 PM CT
Darren McFadden was limited in practice Thursday and his status for Sunday's game against Carolina remains in question, according to the Associated Press. He is recovering from turf toe.

Our View: The team is yet yet to release a report of Friday's practice, which would give a better idea of his playing status. We will keep you posted.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Friday 11/7, 12:07 PM CT
The Falcons do not want to bring back DeAngelo Hall after being let go by Oakland, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: Hall made two Pro Bowl's over four seasons with Atlanta, but wore out his welcome. Hall is still garnering interest from several other clubs, such as New England and Washington.
Gibril Wilson, S Friday 11/7, 11:09 AM CT
Gibril Wilson returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday due to a groin injury, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: He should be good to go for Sunday's game against Carolina. He is the anchor of the Raiders' secondary with 72 tackles (52 solo), one fumble recovery and one interception.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Friday 11/7, 11:05 AM CT
The Redskins are considering signing DeAngelo Hall, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: Hall likes the Redskins' defensive system and is intrigued by the prospect of joining them. He would help stabilize a thin Redskins' secondary.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Friday 11/7, 8:30 AM CT
There continues to be reports circulating that the Patriots are considering making a play for DeAngelo Hall, who has cleared waivers with Oakland, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Hall was a liability in man-to-man coverage for the Raiders, but that would be less of a problem as the Patriots don't generally play much man-to-man with their cornerbacks. Hall would fill a need in an injury-depleted Patriots' secondary.
Michael Huff, S Friday 11/7, 7:12 AM CT
Michael Huff missed Thursday's practice after bruising his hip Wednesday, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: His status will not affect Sunday's game against Carolina, as Huff recently lost his starting job at safety due to poor play.
JaMarcus Russell, QB Thursday 11/6, 6:41 PM CT
JaMarcus Russell was unable to complete Thursday's practice due to knee tendinitis, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View: Russell doesn't have much fantasy value at this point.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Thursday 11/6, 5:26 PM CT
DeAngelo Hall has cleared waivers and has become an unrestricted free agent, according to NFL.com. The Steelers, Patriots, Redskins, and Giants are all said to be interested in Hall.

Our View: Hall could help any of these strong defensive teams become truly elite on that side of the ball. He's made 49 total tackles this season and also has intercepted three passes.
Nnamdi Asomugha, CB Thursday 11/6, 2:43 PM CT
The Raiders are expected to place the franchise tag on elite cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha again in the off-season, according to NFL.com.

Our View: The franchise tag for Asomugha will cost the Raiders $11.7 million, which is worth it as he is considered by many to be the best cornerback in the NFL.
Gibril Wilson, S Thursday 11/6, 7:25 AM CT
Gibril Wilson missed Wednesday's practice with a groin injury, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: The team is yet to update his status for Sunday's game. He would be a tough loss for an already unstable Raiders' defense while contending with Steve Smith and the Panthers' offense. Wilson has racked up 72 tackles (52 solo), one fumble recovery, and one interception so far this season.
Darren McFadden, RB Thursday 11/6, 7:21 AM CT
Darren McFadden returned to practice Wednesday after a week off, according to the SF Chronicle. He is recovering from turf toe.

Our View: This is encouraging news, but he was still limited. He remains day-to-day and fantasy owners should have a backup plan in case he is unable to return this weekend against Carolina.
Javon Walker, WR Thursday 11/6, 7:08 AM CT
Javon Walker is safe and coach Tom Cable denied the report that he could be the next member of the Raiders to be cut, according to the SF Chronicle. Cable said, "Be very real about it. Javon has really brought his game to a whole new level the last few weeks. Javon Walker is in no way not going to be a part of this football team."

Our View: Walker hasn't actually raised his game to a new level as Cable states, as Walker has only hauled in three receptions for 35 yards over the last two games. He should remain on the bench in fantasy leagues with a tough match-up against Carolina.
Chris Johnson, CB Wednesday 11/5, 7:42 PM CT
The Contra Costa Times reports that Chris Johnson will take over the starting cornerback job now that DeAngelo Hall has been cut by the Raiders. He has seen most of his action this season on special teams.

Our View: Johnson played some cornerback last week with Nnamdi Asomugha hindered by his elbow injury. He registered his first career interception in the game.
William Joseph, DT Wednesday 11/5, 3:44 PM CT
William Joseph has been brought back to the Raiders, according to the Oakland Tribune. He was previously cut by the team in training camp.

Our View: He will add some bulk to the Raiders' defensive line as a backup defensive tackle, but will not likely hold any fantasy value for IDP leagues.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Wednesday 11/5, 3:26 PM CT
As expected, DeAngelo Hall has been waived by the Raiders today, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Our View: The Raiders have paid Hall $8 million for eight games, and also gave Atlanta a second-round pick to acquire him. He hauled in three interceptions with Oakland, and should catch on with another club before the end of the season.
Michael Waddell, CB Wednesday 11/5, 2:34 PM CT
Michael Waddell has signed with the Raiders, according to the Oakland Tribune. Tyvon Branch (shoulder) was placed on IR as the adjoining move.

Our View: Waddell was often burned by the Raiders' receivers during training camp, and would be a major liability for the secondary if forced into action this season.
Tyvon Branch, S Wednesday 11/5, 2:30 PM CT
Tyvon Branch has been placed on season-ending IR by the Raiders due to a shoulder injury, according to the Oakland Tribune. The team added cornerback Michael Waddell as the adjoining move.

Our View: The speed demon made a favorable contribution on special teams, but held no fantasy value as a backup defensive back.
Darren McFadden, RB Wednesday 11/5, 10:40 AM CT
Darren McFadden will remain day-to-day this week with his toe injury, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View: McFadden shouldn't be counted on to return to the gridiron this weekend against Carolina.
Robert Thomas, LB Wednesday 11/5, 8:49 AM CT
Robert Thomas has been placed on season-ending IR, according to the Contra Costa Times. He suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's loss to Atlanta. The team signed linebacker Marquis Cooper to replace him on the roster.

Our View: Thomas only made two tackles in 2008, and held no fantasy value for IDP leagues as a reserve linebacker.
Marquis Cooper, LB Wednesday 11/5, 8:45 AM CT
Marquis Cooper has signed with the Raiders, according to the Contra Costa Times. He will fill the roster spot of Robert Thomas, who has been placed on IR.

Our View: The fifth-year linebacker failed to make an impact during stints with Tampa Bay, Seattle, and Pittsburgh, and will hold no fantasy value with the Raiders as a reserve linebacker.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Wednesday 11/5, 7:05 AM CT
Updating a previous report, DeAngelo Hall is expected to be released by the Raiders today, according to ESPN.

Our View: The Raiders have paid Hall $8 million for eight games, and also gave Atlanta a second-round pick to acquire him. Stanford Routt is the top candidate to replace him in the starting lineup. Hall racked up 49 tackles (43 solo) and three interceptions and it wouldn't take him long to find a new home in the NFL.
Javon Walker, WR Wednesday 11/5, 7:01 AM CT
There is speculation that Javon Walker is under consideration to be released by the Raiders, according to ESPN.

Our View: Owner Al Davis is highly displeased after the Raiders were shut out by the Falcons in Week 9, and Walker is believed to be among a dozen players considered for release. Walker only registered 13 receptions and one score over seven games.
DeAngelo Hall, CB Tuesday 11/4, 7:23 PM CT
Adam Schefter of NFL.com is reporting that the Raiders are on the verge of releasing DeAngelo Hall.

Our View: Hall has had a tumultuous year with the Raiders and it looks like it is almost over. Hall will most likely not be on the street very long.
Zach Miller, TE Sunday 11/2, 7:47 PM CT
Zach Miller only had two grabs for nine yards on Sunday in a disappointing overall performance for the Raiders.

Our View: The Oakland tight end may be reverting to his early season form.
