Darnell Stapleton, OLSaturday 10/11, 11:40 PM CT
Right guard Darnell Stapleton could be the Steelers center of the future, TimesOnline.com reports. Justin Hartwig is currently occupying that spot, but Stapleton played center in college at Rutgers. "I love center," Stapleton explains. "I just feel that the center is the leader of the offensive, and I like that type of responsibility. I feel that I’m more naturally built to play center."

Our View:You have to remember that center is to Steelers as, say, quarterback is to Cowboys. They've been blessed with the likes of Mike Webster, Dermonti Dawson, and Jeff Hartings over the years, and they are praying that a guy like Stapleton can become the next great middle piece. At the moment, fans should just be pleased the youngster is doing well at guard.
Hines Ward, WRThursday 10/9, 7:48 AM CT
Hines Ward has been fined $5,000 for what the NFL described as "unnecessary roughness" for his play against Baltimore September 29, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He is unsure what play he was docked for as he never drew a penalty in the game. He said, "That's what's so crazy about it. How do you not get penalized but you get a fine?

Our View:He noted that he probably won't appeal the fine. He is among the best blocking receivers in the league, and perhaps he was fined by being too aggressive.
Ben Roethlisberger, QBWednesday 10/8, 11:15 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger played in Week 5 with an injured shoulder but that did not hamper him at all. In the Steelers win over the Jaguars, Big Ben threw 309 yards and three scores. These numbers were good enough to help the quarterback win the AFC offensive player of the week, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune.

Our View:The Steelers have a bye in Week 6 so he will have an extra week for the shoulder to heal.
