Newsbreakers
Santonio Holmes, WR Friday 11/21, 12:55 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers' coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Santonio Holmes got a concussion in their win over the Bengals, but he should be fine.

Our View: He should benefit by having nearly 10 days before the Steelers play again. He led the Steelers in catches and receiving yards in Thursday's win.
Heath Miller, TE Thursday 11/20, 10:47 PM CT
Steelers tight end Heath Miller caught four passes for 44 yards and one score in the team's 27-10 win over Cincinnati.

Our View: Miller hadn't caught a pass since Week 8 as he missed two games due to an ankle injury. His health means he is once again an option for fantasy owners, though by no means a weekly must-start.
Willie Parker, RB Thursday 11/20, 10:34 PM CT
Willie Parker ran for just 37 yards on 14 carries in Pittsburgh's 27-10 win over the Bengals, and after the game, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said Parker "tweaked his knee."

Our View: This certainly wasn't the kind of game most fantasy owners were expecting from Fast Willie. Mewelde Moore got 14 carries, picking up 56 yards, and was easily the more valuable of the backs on this night, as he also caught four passes for 41 yards.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Thursday 11/20, 10:28 PM CT
In a 27-10 win over the Bengals, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 17-of-30 passes for 243 yards and one touchdown while also running three times for 13 yards and one score.

Our View: It was a snowy night and a sloppy field, so Pittsburgh dialed up more runs than throws. Roethlisberger has been dealing with a shoulder injury, but it hasn't seemed to bother him of late.
Deshea Townsend, CB Thursday 11/20, 6:20 PM CT
QB Dennis Dixon (3rd), CB Deshea Townsend, CB Bryant McFadden, CB Roy Lewis, LB Bruce Davis, T Tony Hills, T Marvel Smith, DE Orpheus Roye

Our View: No real surprises here, as it was known two days ago that Townsend was going to be out.
Marvel Smith, T Wednesday 11/19, 11:56 AM CT
Marvel Smith is considering season-ending back surgery, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Agent Ken Zuckerman said, "He's going to do whatever it takes to continue his career. Surgery is an avenue we're exploring. Is surgery the best option? Whatever's in the best interest of keeping him healthy to play football."

Our View: The Steelers' passing game has been unstable with the solid left tackle out of action, and would be a tough loss if he opts for surgery.
Willie Parker, RB Wednesday 11/19, 8:24 AM CT
Willie Parker was not used in goal-line and short-yardage situations in Week 11 due to his ailing shoulder, but coach Mike Tomlin noted that he would use Parker in those situations Thursday against Cincinnati if he feels he can handle it, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Tomlin said, "If Willie can get in there, I am going to hand it to him."

Our View: That would lift a restriction off Parker's fantasy value, and would wipe out the value of Gary Russell, who was being considered for short-yardage duty.
Heath Miller, TE Wednesday 11/19, 8:18 AM CT
Heath Miller is likely to return to the gridiron Thursday night against the Bengals after missing the previous two games with a high-ankle sprain, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He fully practiced Tuesday without any issues. This is favorable news, but Miller still only hauled in 21 receptions with one score over eight games this season.
Dallas Baker, WR Wednesday 11/19, 8:14 AM CT
The Steelers have re-signed receiver Dallas Baker, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The club is yet to announce an adjoining move.

Our View: Baker has been on the Steelers' active roster for eight games, but only caught one pass for six yards. He should continue to be ignored as a fantasy receiver.
Hines Ward, WR Tuesday 11/18, 6:18 PM CT
Hines Ward isn't worried about the Bengals' attempting to get revenge on him for a hit in the teams' first meeting, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Ward broke linebacker Keith Rivers' jaw when he threw a block in October 19th's 38-10 win.
Bryant McFadden, CB Tuesday 11/18, 4:55 PM CT
Bryant McFadden has been ruled out of Thursday's game, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Steelers' secondary has still been strong, even with out McFadden and the injury to Deshea Townsend. The Steelers' defense is still worth a start this week against the Bengals.
Marvel Smith, T Tuesday 11/18, 4:48 PM CT
Marvel Smith is out for Week 12's game against Cincinnati, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: Smith has been out since early October, but the Steelers running game has still been productive even with out him.
Deshea Townsend, CB Tuesday 11/18, 4:44 PM CT
Deshea Townsend has been ruled out for Week 12, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View: The Steelers play Thursday night of this week against the Bengals. Pittsburgh still has one of the best defenses in the league, so they're probably a safe start against a bad Cincinnati team.
Heath Miller, TE Tuesday 11/18, 1:55 PM CT
Heath Miller, who missed the last two games with a high-ankle sprain, is questionable for Week 12, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View: Coach Mike Tomlin noted that he could return for Thursday's game at Heinz Field against the Bengals. Miller only registered 21 receptions and one touchdown this season, and will be battling a Bengals' defense that held the Eagles to 13 points in a tie last weekend.
Gary Russell, RB Tuesday 11/18, 1:05 PM CT
Gary Russell successfully converted two third-and-short situations in Sunday's win over the Chargers, and coach Mike Tomlin said Russell could continue to excel in that role, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Tomlin added, "Maybe we found something with Gary Russell. We will see. I think that based upon what he showed us in this football game, he is a strong candidate for that."

Our View: Russell could be worth a look in deeper touchdown-heavy leagues, assuming he gets some looks on the goal-line.
Jayson Foster, WR Tuesday 11/18, 8:27 AM CT
Wide receiver Jayson Foster auditioned for the Patriots Monday, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Foster was previously on the Steelers' practice squad. He played quarterback at Georgia Southern and could be helpful to the Patriots' practice squad as they prepare to face the Dolphins this weekend, who like to feature the "wildcat" formation.
Troy Polamalu, S Monday 11/17, 9:53 AM CT
Troy Polamalu scored a touchdown after picking up a loose ball on the last play of the game in the Steelers' 11-10 win over San Diego, but the lateral was incorrectly called an illegal forward pass, so the score did not count. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the call meant the difference of millions of dollars to gamblers who bet on the Steelers to cover the spread, which was five points.

Our View: The paper reports that 66 percent of the bets went with Pittsburgh to cover the spread. Unfortunately for them, the erroneous call meant bettors could not collect what would have been a combined $32 million in winnings.
Hines Ward, WR Sunday 11/16, 7:19 PM CT
Hines Ward came up big for the Steelers Sunday, catching 11 balls for 124 yards in the win over San Diego.

Our View: Hines now has 20 catches over the last two games after needing the previous five games to reach that total.
Willie Parker, RB Sunday 11/16, 7:17 PM CT
Willie Parker played through a shoulder injury and played quite well in the Steelers' win over the Chargers, as the back rushed for 115 yards on 25 carries.

Our View: The shoulder harness didn't limit FWP's mobility, but the Steelers did play it safe in a few short-yardage attempts by using Mewelde Moore and Gary Russell. Still, it was a positive showing for Willie.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Sunday 11/16, 7:14 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger didn't seem to be hindered by his shoulder ailment Sunday, as he completed 31-of-41 passes for 308 yards in the Steelers' 11-10 win over San Diego.

Our View: Pittsburgh failed to tally a touchdown, but a safety and three Jeff Reed field goals was enough to put them over the top.
Heath Miller, TE Sunday 11/16, 2:03 PM CT
Steelers inactives: QB Dennis Dixon (3rd), CB Bryant McFadden, CB Deshea Townsend, LB Bruce Davis, T Tony Hills, T Marvel Smith, TE Heath Miller, DE Orpheus Roye.

Our View: Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) is active and will start, while tight end Matt Spaeth gets the call in place of Heath Miller, who is inactive due to a high ankle sprain.
Roy Lewis, CB Saturday 11/15, 2:14 PM CT
Roy Lewis has been signed from the Steelers' practice squad, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The team waived receiver Dallas Baker as the adjoining move.

Our View: The rookie cornerback will likely be on the Steelers' active roster for Sunday's game against San Diego, but will hold no fantasy value for IDP leagues as a reserve.
Dallas Baker, WR Saturday 11/15, 10:48 AM CT
Dallas Baker has been waived, according to the Steelers' official website.

Our View: He was active for eight games, but held no fantasy value as he only caught one pass for six yards. Rookie Limas Sweed should see more action going forward.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Saturday 11/15, 7:23 AM CT
LaMarr Woodley has recovered from his strained calf and will start Week 11 against San Diego, according to the Beaver County Times.

Our View: Woodley has contributed 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception this season for Pittsburgh, and will be expected to play a key role in their bid to slow down LaDainian Tomlinson and the Chargers' offense.
Willie Parker, RB Saturday 11/15, 7:20 AM CT
Willie Parker is not on the Steelers' injury report, according to the Beaver County Times. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury.

Our View: Parker will start against the Chargers, but is not a safe fantasy option as his mobility could be compromised while wearing a protective shoulder harness. Mewelde Moore should help lighten his workload as well.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Saturday 11/15, 7:17 AM CT
Ben Roethlisberger had a great week of practice and is not on the Steelers' injury report, according to the Beaver County Times. He had been dealing with a sprained shoulder.

Our View: Roethlisberger is worth employing in fantasy lineups against the Chargers' 32nd ranked pass defense.
Hines Ward, WR Friday 11/14, 11:37 PM CT
Steelers' Chairman Dan Rooney will buy a controlling stake of the team from his four brothers, according to the Associated Press. The deal is supposed to be finalized before a board meeting in December.

Our View: This should give the Steelers organization stability for years to come, as Dan Rooney's son will own the team with him.
William Gay, CB Friday 11/14, 12:10 PM CT
William Gay is expected to make his first career start this weekend against San Diego in place of the injured Deshea Townsend, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Bryant McFadden is expected to miss the game as well.

Our View: Gay is not a solid cornerback and will be targeted, and likely exploited, by the Chargers' aerial attack.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Friday 11/14, 9:00 AM CT
LaMarr Woodley returned to practice Thursday and is expected to start Week 11 against the Chargers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He missed Week 10 with a calf injury.

Our View: This is good news for fantasy owners and the Steelers' defense, as Woodley has contributed 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception this season.
Heath Miller, TE Friday 11/14, 8:56 AM CT
As expected, Heath Miller will miss Week 11 due to his high-ankle sprain, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Matt Spaeth will likely replace him in the starting lineup at tight end against San Diego's 32nd ranked pass defense. Miller only contributed 21 receptions and one touchdown this season, and it shouldn't be hard for fantasy owners to find a more productive replacement on the waiver wire while he is out.
Willie Parker, RB Friday 11/14, 8:52 AM CT
Willie Parker will play this weekend with the aid of a protective shoulder harness, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Parker has missed five of the last six games and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said, "Makes all the difference in the world. When you saw him flash in Washington, it was like, 'Oooh.' Nobody was blocking and he got five yards because of his speed and explosiveness. Mewelde Moore has done a tremendous job, but Willie has the explosiveness we look for."

Our View: Parker won't be able to lift his arm above his head, which will hinder his ability to catch passes. Fighting off defenders with a stiff arm will be difficult as well, meaning Parker will be a risky fantasy option against the Chargers' 12th ranked run defense. Expect Mewelde Moore to see a solid workload in the game.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Thursday 11/13, 7:42 AM CT
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to get the start against San Diego this week, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Roethlisberger went through a full practice on Wednesday, and his troublesome right shoulder is seemingly good to go. That's great news for fantasy owners as the Chargers have the worst pass defense in the NFL.
Marvel Smith, T Wednesday 11/12, 11:45 PM CT
Marvel Smith did not practice on Wednesday because of a back injury that has forced him to miss the Steelers last four games, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The Steelers originally thought that Smith would be back on the practice field this week but now are not sure of his availability.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Wednesday 11/12, 11:32 PM CT
LaMarr Woodley(calf) did not practice with the Steelers on Wednesday but the team expects him to be back on the practice field Thursday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: The Steelers are expecting Woodley to be on the field in Week 11.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Wednesday 11/12, 1:30 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger is still dealing with his sprained right shoulder, but practiced Wednesday, according to ESPN. He is hopeful he can play in Week 11 and said, "Oh yeah, I'm practicing. I'm going to practice today and every day, unless something happens. It always helps when you're actually out there doing stuff and guys can hear your voice and see the ball come out of your hands. So I think it will help a lot."

Our View: Coach Mike Tomlin previously mentioned that Roethlisberger's struggles were linked to him not practicing early in the week. He has thrown eight interceptions over his last three games and was out of rhythm with his receivers. Hopefully he will be able to play and get back on track against San Diego, whose pass defense is currently ranked last in the NFL.
Marvel Smith, T Wednesday 11/12, 7:53 AM CT
Marvel Smith, who missed the past four games with a back ailment, will try to practice this week, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Coach Mike Tomlin said, "He's got to show us quite a bit, he's missed quite a bit of time. Not only in terms of health, but technically he's got to be up to speed. He's got to knock the rust off quickly if he's going to play for us this weekend."

Our View: He is the anchor of the Steelers' offensive line as the starting left tackle, and the timing and rhythm of the offense has been compromised with Max Starks filling in, which is the main reason quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been taking a beating.
Heath Miller, TE Wednesday 11/12, 7:48 AM CT
Heath Miller is expected to miss another game Sunday due to his high-ankle sprain, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Matt Spaeth will likely start at tight end in his place and has a favorable match-up against the Chargers' 32nd ranked pass defense. Miller only registered 21 receptions and one touchdown this season, and it shouldn't be hard for fantasy owners to find a more productive replacement on the waiver wire while he is out.
Willie Parker, RB Wednesday 11/12, 7:43 AM CT
Willie Parker will sport a shoulder harness to protect his labrum injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Parker is expected to practice Wednesday and start Sunday against San Diego. Mewelde Moore would likely still see a favorable workload at running back, meaning he should remain on fantasy rosters.
Najeh Davenport, RB Wednesday 11/12, 7:18 AM CT
Najeh Davenport auditioned for the Rams Tuesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: The Rams could use a healthy body at running back, and Davenport would be a solid addition as he could also contribute at fullback if needed.
Heath Miller, TE Tuesday 11/11, 1:18 PM CT
Heath Miller is not likely to return from his ankle injury this weekend against San Diego, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Matt Spaeth would likely make another start at tight end in place of Miller. Miller has only notched 21 receptions and one touchdown over eight games this season, and would not be hard for fantasy owners to find a more productive replacement on the waiver wire.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Tuesday 11/11, 1:14 PM CT
LaMarr Woodley seems likely to return this weekend against the Chargers after missing Week 10 with a calf injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He would provide a boost to the Steelers' defense while attempting to slow down LaDainian Tomlinson and the Chargers' offense. Woodley has contributed 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and an interception this season, and should be employed in IDP leagues if able to play.
Willie Parker, RB Tuesday 11/11, 1:11 PM CT
Coach Mike Tomlin is hopeful Willie Parker will be able to practice Wednesday and fight through his shoulder injury to play Sunday against San Diego, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Even if Parker returns, Mewelde Moore should continue to handle a solid workload in the ground attack.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Tuesday 11/11, 12:26 PM CT
Coach Mike Tomlin is hopeful Ben Roethlisberger will be able to practice this week while dealing with his right shoulder injury, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Tomlin said, "It's our intent right now that we're hopeful that he'll practice. Of course the shoulder is what it is. It's something he has dealt with and will continue to deal with. We'll see where he is when he comes in here and gets looked at today. We'll see what his availability is for practice after that."

Our View: He was able to play last weekend, but threw three interceptions against the Colts. Roethlisberger is among the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL, but will be a risky fantasy option if able to play against the Chargers, who are led by ballhawks Antonio Cromartie and Quentin Jammer on defense.
Grant Mason, DB Tuesday 11/11, 10:21 AM CT
Grant Mason has been released from the Steelers' practice squad to make room for safety Ryan Mundy, according to Scout.com.

Our View: The second-year safefy lacked the skills to make an impact if called into action by the Steelers.
Ryan Mundy, S Tuesday 11/11, 10:19 AM CT
Ryan Mundy has been signed to the Steelers' practice squad, according to Scout.com. Safety Grant Mason was released from the practice squad as the corresponding move.

Our View: The sixth-round rookie could see time on special teams if promoted, but his potential at safety is limited.
Donovan Woods, LB Tuesday 11/11, 10:15 AM CT
Donovan Woods has been released by the Steelers and signed to their practice squad, according to Scout.com. The team signed cornerback Fernando Bryant as the adjoining move.

Our View: The undrafted rookie linebacker only registered four tackles (two solo) as a deep reserve for the Steelers this season, and held no fantasy value.
Fernando Bryant, CB Tuesday 11/11, 10:12 AM CT
The Steelers signed veteran cornerback Fernando Bryant to a one-year contract, according to Scout.com. Financial terms were not disclosed. The team released linebacker Donovan Woods to make room on the roster.

Our View: Bryant was added to provide depth at cornerback as they have been thinned out by injuries, but he won't likely merit fantasy attention for IDP leagues.
James Harrison, LB Monday 11/10, 9:04 AM CT
James Harrison notched his 11th sack of the season in Sunday's loss to the Colts, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Harrison is now only four sacks away from Mike Merriweather's single-season franchise record. Eight of his sacks have been registered over his last six games.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Monday 11/10, 8:59 AM CT
Ben Roethlisberger moved into second on the Steelers' career-passing list with 13,359 yards, passing Kordell Stewart (13,328), according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Roethlisberger is now 14,631 yards away from passing Terry Bradshaw for first on the Steelers' all-time list.
Gary Russell, RB Monday 11/10, 8:55 AM CT
Gary Russell handled the role as a return man on kickoffs in Sunday's game against the Colts following the release of Najeh Davenport, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Russell did not register any rushing attempts on offense, and only holds value in deeper leagues that award points for yardage on special teams.
Deshea Townsend, CB Monday 11/10, 8:51 AM CT
Deshea Townsend injured his right hamstring during Sunday's game against the Colts, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He walked slowly off the field and was unable to return. William Gay replaced Townsend at cornerback, with Anthony Madison moving into the top nickel role, hence leaving the Steelers' secondary vulnerable. The severity of Townsend's injury is yet to be determined.
Lawrence Timmons, LB Monday 11/10, 8:46 AM CT
Lawrence Timmons made his first start at outside linebacker in place of the injured LaMarr Woodley (calf) Sunday against the Colts, and fared well as he finished third on the team with five tackles (four solo), according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: If Woodley is unable to return in Week 11 against San Diego, Timmons would be worth a look in deeper IDP leagues.
Willie Parker, RB Monday 11/10, 8:41 AM CT
Willie Parker may need surgery for his injured shoulder after the season, but the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette states he is likely to play in Week 11 against the Chargers. Coach Mike Tomlin said, "We are hopeful that he will be well enough to play next week."

Our View: Parker is denying the report that he has a torn labrum, and this is encouraging news. Mewelde Moore should continue to handle a favorable workload down the stretch, so both backs are worth holding onto in fantasy leagues.
Hines Ward, WR Sunday 11/9, 6:27 PM CT
Hines Ward caught nine passes for 116 yards in the Steelers' 24-20 home loss to the Colts.

Our View: Ward has had a rough couple of weeks prior to Sunday's game. He only averaged 33 yards in the previous two games, so today was a good sign for the Steelers.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Sunday 11/9, 6:23 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger did start for the Steelers against the Colts but the game did not go the way he wanted it to go. Big Ben throw for 284 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.

Our View: Roethlisberger was able to play today which was good news for the Steelers and the shoulder didn't seem to cause him many problems.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Sunday 11/9, 2:42 PM CT
Based on the pre-game comments on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is going to start.

Our View: The Post-Gazette is not sure how effective Big Ben will be, and fantasy owners are gambling big time if they use Roethlisberger this week.
Willie Parker, RB Sunday 11/9, 2:35 PM CT
Running back Willie Parker has denied an NFL Network report that he has a torn labrum in his shoulder. He tells ESPN.com that his body is "beat up" and that he hopes to play in Week 11.

Our View: All we know for sure is that Willie's value continues to slide due to his bad run of injuries, and Mewelde Moore is definitely worth holding in all leagues. Even if Parker has a torn labrum, he can probably play through it. However, Moore could be a factor for the rest of the year.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Sunday 11/9, 2:29 PM CT
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) is active for the Week 10 tilt against the Colts.

Our View: At this point, we don't know for sure if Big Ben or Byron Leftwich will start. Previous reports suggested Roethlisberger would give it a go, but he could truly be a game-time decision.
Hines Ward, WR Sunday 11/9, 2:15 PM CT
Wide receiver Hines Ward (shoulder) is active for the Week 10 game against the Colts.

Our View: Fantasy owners should feel free to use Ward, even though the Steelers have concerns at quarterback.
Dennis Dixon, QB Sunday 11/9, 1:47 PM CT
Week 10 inactives: QB Dennis Dixon (3rd), CB Bryant McFadden, RB Willie Parker, LB LaMarr Woodley, T Tony Hills, OT Marvel Smith, TE Heath Miller, DE Orpheus Roye.

Our View: Ben Roethlisberger and Hines Ward are amongst the notable active players, as the Steelers had a long list of injuries this week. Mewelde Moore and Matt Spaeth are set to start, and we are waiting on definitive word at quarterback.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Sunday 11/9, 9:55 AM CT
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) has been cleared to start in Week 10 against the Colts, FOXSports.com reports.

Our View: The Steelers and Colts are an afternoon game, but the sense is that Big Ben will give it a go. Fantasy owners who have a good secondary option may want to play it safe, though.
Willie Parker, RB Sunday 11/9, 9:48 AM CT
Running back Willie Parker has a torn labrum in his shoulder, and he is awaiting further tests to figure out the next move, Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports. If and when Parker comes back, he will need to wear a harness to protect his shoulder. Mewelde Moore will start in his place in Week 10.

Our View: Schefter deftly pointed out that guys like Chad Johnson have played through such injuries, but fantasy owners have good reason to be worried. Parker could be week-to-week for a while.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Sunday 11/9, 9:45 AM CT
Linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) will not play in Week 10 against the Colts, the NFL Network reports.

Our View: The Steelers and IDP owners will both miss his 9.5 sacks. This is good news for Peyton Manning and the Colts offense.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Saturday 11/8, 6:07 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that LaMarr Woodley was unable to participate in drills on Friday. He was also fines $10,000 for trowing Jason Campbell to the ground last week.

Our View: Woodley is dealing with a calf injury and appears to be a risky start on Sunday. He has been an exceptional IDP player this season with 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, an interception and a touchdown.
Donovan Woods, LB Saturday 11/8, 11:27 AM CT
Linebacker Donovan Woods has been promoted from the team's practice squad to take the place of running back Najeh Davenport, who was released, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: Woods has had an up-and-down year, being activated from the practice squad before, then getting cut, then re-signing with the practice squad only to be promoted again.
Najeh Davenport, RB Saturday 11/8, 11:25 AM CT
Running back Najeh Davenport was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: Davenport played in four games for the team, but had just two carries for five yards and was not fantasy-relevant.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Friday 11/7, 3:31 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger, who is dealing with a slightly separated right shoulder and left pinkie injury, was able to fully practice Friday, according to NFL.com.

Our View: He is probable and should be good to go for Week 10 against the Colts.
Hines Ward, WR Friday 11/7, 3:28 PM CT
Hines Ward was able to practice without restrictions Friday, according to NFL.com.

Our View: He is listed as probable and should be penciled into fantasy lineups in a potentially high-scoring game against the Colts.
Justin Vincent, RB Friday 11/7, 8:21 AM CT
Justin Vincent has been re-signed to the Steelers' practice squad, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Return specialist Jayson Foster was released from the practice squad as the adjoining move.

Our View: Vincent had a memorable career at LSU, but holds no fantasy value while confined to the Steelers' practice squad.
LaMarr Woodley, LB Friday 11/7, 8:17 AM CT
LaMarr Woodley missed Thursday's practice while dealing with his calf ailment, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He is still expected to play this weekend against the Colts. Woodley is the MVP of the Steelers' defense so far, as he contributed 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception.
Hines Ward, WR Friday 11/7, 8:14 AM CT
Hines Ward will not practice Thursday while nursing his knee injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He is expected to play this weekend in a potentially high-scoring game against the Colts.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Friday 11/7, 7:36 AM CT
Ben Roethlisberger missed Thursday's practice while dealing with a slightly separated right shoulder and a left pinkie ligament injury, but he is optimistic about practicing Friday and playing in Week 10 against the Colts, according to ESPN.

Our View: Byron Leftwich would start at quarterback if Roethlisberger is unable to go. We will keep you posted on his status.
Willie Parker, RB Friday 11/7, 7:32 AM CT
Willie Parker will miss Sunday's game against Indianapolis due to the shoulder injury he sustained in Week 9 at Washington, according to ESPN. He missed practice for the second straight day Thursday.

Our View: Mewelde Moore's fantasy stock for the week goes up, as he is likely to handle the bulk of the workload on the ground against the Colts' 25th ranked run defense.
Willie Parker, RB Thursday 11/6, 2:48 PM CT
Willie Parker missed Thursday's practice due to a shoulder injury and is in jeopardy of possibly missing Week 10 against the Colts, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: If Parker is unable to go, Mewelde Moore would handle the bulk of the workload in a favorable match-up against the Colts' 25th ranked run defense. We will keep you posted on Parker's status.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB Thursday 11/6, 12:55 PM CT
Ben Roethlisberger will wear a brace on his injured left thumb for the next two months, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He tore a ligament in the thumb during the October 26 game against the Giants.

Our View: His status for Week 10 against the Colts remains undetermined. Byron Leftwich would start if he is unable to go.
Marvel Smith, T Thursday 11/6, 8:13 AM CT
Marvel Smith missed Wednesday's practice due to his ailing back, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: He is the anchor of the Steelers' offensive line as the starting left tackle, and the team cannot afford for him to miss another game with an already banged up offense.
Matt Spaeth, TE Thursday 11/6, 8:09 AM CT
Matt Spaeth is nursing a wrist injury, but was able to practice Wednesday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said, "It'll be fine."

Our View: He is expected to start at tight end Sunday against the Colts in place of the injured Heath Miller, and hopes he won't be restricted by the injury.
