Newsbreakers
Earnest Graham, RB Sunday 9/7, 4:24 PM CT
Running back Earnest Graham compiled 10 carries for 91 yards and chipped in three receptions for 27 yards in the Buccaneers season opening loss to New Orleans.

Our View: Graham totaled 118 yards from scrimmage, but split the carries almost evenly with Warrick Dunn. Graham should handle the work at the stripe going forward, but it's definitely concerning to see Dunn pilfer so many carries.
Derrick Brooks, LB Sunday 9/7, 2:25 PM CT
Linebacker Derrick Brooks exited the game against New Orleans during the third quarter after tweaking his hamstring.

Our View: The severity of the injury is uncertain, and Brooks is not expected to return to action today
Maurice Stovall, WR Sunday 9/7, 1:56 PM CT
Wide receiver Maurice Stovall exited Sunday's game against New Orleans with a shoulder injury.

Our View: Stovall is considered questionable to return.
Jeff Garcia, QB Sunday 9/7, 11:56 AM CT
Quarterback Jeff Garcia was listed on the NFL injury report as probable with a calf injury, but will start against New Orleans.

Our View: This is a pretty solid match-up for Garcia, given wide receiver Joey Galloway's past success against the Saints.
Michael Bennett, RB Sunday 9/7, 10:52 AM CT
Week 1 Inactives: QB Luke McCown (3rd), QB Josh Johnson, RB Michael Bennett, LB Geno Hayes, G Davin Joseph, T James Lee, WR Michael Clayton, DE Greg Peterson.

Our View: Good news for Joey Galloway and Antonio Bryant, who were both questionable on this week's NFL injury report. Galloway has a great track record against New Orleans, and should be a top shelf option this week.
Chris Simms, QB Sunday 9/7, 9:49 AM CT
The New York Giants are interested in adding free-agent Chris Simms as their third quarterback, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: The Giants are currently rostering only two quarterbacks (Eli Manning and David Carr), and would like to add some depth to the position. However, the Dallas Cowboys are also reportedly interested in Simms, as well as Brooks Bollinger.
Ike Hilliard, WR Saturday 9/6, 2:16 PM CT
Ike Hilliard could be inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Dexter Jackson will return punts and kicks, and Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall are also involved on special teams, meaning Hilliard seems the likely candidate to be deactivated.

Our View: Hilliard was unseated as a starting receiver by Antonio Bryant, and has fallen to the point of not being active. The 32-year-old veteran is not worth holding on fantasy rosters.
Antonio Bryant, WR Friday 9/5, 5:56 PM CT
Antonio Bryant is listed as questionable on the Bucs injury report because of a bad knee. If healthy, expect him to start.

Our View: Joey Galloway and Michael Clayton are also questionable. Don't count on getting much production from the Bucs passing attack this week against the Saints.
Joey Galloway, WR Friday 9/5, 5:53 PM CT
The Tampa Tribune reports that Joey Galloway is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. He has missed the entire preseason due to a groin injury.

Our View: If you have another option besides Galloway, use it. As of now the chances of him playing are 50/50 at best. Even if he does play, expect him to be a little rusty.
Cortez Hankton, WR Friday 9/5, 5:18 PM CT
Cortez Hankton was placed on the IR with an undisclosed injury and will miss the entire 2008 season.
Jeff Garcia, QB Friday 9/5, 1:12 PM CT
The Tampa Tribune indicates that Jeff Garcia is nursing a sprained right pinky finger. Garcia said, "I actually sprained it in the one exhibition game I played. My hand came down on someone’s shoulder pad and I sprained it. But it’s fine really. It’s not a problem at all. I don’t even know why it would be an issue."

Our View: He hasn't been limited at practice and the team is not concerned with the ailment, so he should be fine to start Sunday at New Orleans.
Jeff Garcia, QB Wednesday 9/3, 6:03 PM CT
Jeff Garcia didn't see his first action of the preseason until the team's third exhibition game, and as expected, he was rusty. Rototimes sources report that not only was Garcia intercepted twice in the first half, he could have been intercepted on two other occasions. One of the interceptions was in the endzone from a redzone position. He did throw a touchdown pass to Michael Clayton. The veteran quarterback needed to play against Houston in the preseason finale, but didn't.

Our View: Rototimes ources report that while he's veteran savvy, he's unprepared for the regular season after only 32 snaps in one preseason game. Additionally the 38-year-old depends on being mobile and he's still gimpy from a Training Camp with calf injury.
Joey Galloway, WR Wednesday 9/3, 12:14 PM CT
Joey Galloway was forced to miss all of the preseason due to a groin injury but he deems himself ready to go for Sunday's opener against the Saints, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: This is good news for the Buccaneers, as well as fantasy owners who have Galloway, as he has a track record of playing well against the Saints.
Antonio Bryant, WR Wednesday 9/3, 11:13 AM CT
Antonio Bryant has nailed down a starting spot at receiver with the Buccaneers, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He will start opposite Joey Galloway.

Our View: Bryant is an intriguing player to consider as a fantasy reserve, as the Buccaneers lack strong options at receiver beyond the aging Galloway, and Bryant racked up 1,009 receiving yards with the Browns back in 2005.
Eugene Wilson, CB Wednesday 9/3, 8:05 AM CT
Eugene Wilson is expected to sign a deal with the Texans after being released by the Buccaneers, according to the Houston Chronicle. Offensive lineman Brandon Frye has been placed on waivers to make room for Wilson on the roster.

Our View: Wilson won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and would provide versatility to play either safety or cornerback. The Texans only kept four cornerbacks on their 53-man roster.
Sean Mahan, G Tuesday 9/2, 4:32 PM CT
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did some more fiddling with their offensive line on Tuesday. After trading Dan Buenning to the Bears, the team then turned around and acquired offensive lineman Sean Mahan from the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Mahan left Tampa to sign a lucrative deal with the Steelers, but lost his starting job with the team in training camp.
Sabby Piscitelli, S Monday 9/1, 10:42 PM CT
Sabby Piscitelli participated in Sunday's brief morning walkthrough and should be ready to play in the opener against the Saints, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He has been slowed by a knee injury.

Our View: Coach Jon Gruden has been pleased with his range and potential to be a play-maker, and could push for playing time at safety this season if healthy.
James Lee, G Monday 9/1, 5:32 PM CT
James Lee has been signed by the Buccaneers, according to the AP. He was released by the Browns Saturday. Defensive back Eugene Wilson was released to make room on the roster for Lee.

Our View: He will provide adequate depth and has the versatility to work at guard or tackle.
Matt Bryant, K Monday 9/1, 2:09 PM CT
Buccaneers kicker Matt Bryant had a horrific preseason, and the team is now trying out kickers at their practice on Monday, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: The paper was unsure of who the particular kickers were, but this is not a surprising move considering how awful Bryant was. Stay tuned if you have him as your kicker on your fantasy squad.
Chris Simms, QB Monday 9/1, 1:26 PM CT
Quarterback Chris Simms, released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is making a visit to the Baltimore Ravens, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View: Simms would give the team depth, and possibly a starter, because Baltimore quarterbacks have their own issues. Joe Flacco is a rookie, Troy Smith has been unable to practice or play due to an illness, and Kyle Boller is dealing with a shoulder injury.
