Newsbreakers
November 19, 2008
Rangers captain Chris Drury scored a power play goal and added an assist in the Rangers' 6-3 loss to the Canucks on Wednesday night.

Our View:Drury has now scored eight goals on the year and now has 13 points in the Rangers 22 games.
November 12, 2008
Chris Drury scored a goal for the second straight game to give him seven on the year. The Rangers beat the Devils 5-2 on Wednesday night.

Our View:Drury started off slowly but now is starting to put the biscuit in the basket. The Rangers captain has scored seven goals and has three assists in 19 games.
November 10, 2008
Chris Drury picked up his sixth goal of the season on Monday as New York fell to the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in a shootout.

Our View:Drury is off to a relatively slow start but he has picked up his scoring in the past week.
November 6, 2008
Chris Drury scored a hat trick in Thursday night's game against the Lightning. Two of the goals came on the power play while the other came shorthanded for the Rangers in their 5-2 win.

Our View:Drury's gotten off to slow start offensively this season, but a game like this could get him going. He's owned in nearly all leagues, but you may want to sign him while you still can if he's on the waiver wire.
October 27, 2008
Chris Drury scored his first two goals of the year, including one on the power-play, on Monday night for the victorious Rangers who defeated the Islanders.

Our View:It was only a matter of time before this gritty leader started to light the lamp. If Drury's current owner is still down on him now would be a great time to make a play on him since he is still more than likely to score at least 25-goals this season.
October 17, 2008
Chris Drury and his linemates were once again held scoreless in the Rangers 1-0 shootout loss to the Leafs.

Our View:Drury now has one point in seven games and is likely in danger of being demoted to the teams second scoring line in an attempt to help him to find his lost scoring touch.
October 17, 2008
Chris Drury, Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund, the Rangers first line, have produced little in the way of chemistry in the early going, according to Newsday. HC Tom Renney said the trio would remain together, for now.

Our View:If things don't turn around quickly, Drury could be dropped down to the second line which would elevated Nikolai Zherdev to the first unit as the current first line has produced a total of just three point over the past four games.
October 15, 2008
Chris Drury was held scoreless with a (-1) in the Rangers loss to the Sabres.

Our View:Despite all the teams success in the early going, they are 5-1, Drury has but a single assist. Don't panic however as Drury has a long history of success. If his current owner is a bit nervous about the slow start, it would be wise to pounce.

Chris Drury has been named the captain of the Rangers for this season according to TSN. "Chris Drury is a natural leader who possesses all of the qualities and characteristics we desire from our captain," said general manager Glen Sather. "He has always been known as a clutch performer and a winner. Chris leads by example with his tireless work ethic on and off the ice, and is extremely deserving of this honor."

Our View:The long-time center has been playing right wing on Scott Gomez's line in the preseason and the results have been excellent. Drury could score much more frequently than his 25 goals last season.
October 1, 2008
Chris Drury scored twice in the Rangers 4-3 come from behind win over the European champion Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Wednesday night in the first game between NHL and Russian teams in 17 years according to the AP.

Our View:Drury is working on the right wing with Scott Gomez manning center on New York's first line. The combination is world-class and Drury will score much more frequently than his 25 goals last season.
September 27, 2008
Chris Drury has been moved from the second line center to the first line right wing according to the New York Daily News. Scott Gomez centers the first line and it will make it's debut on Saturday against the Devils. "There's not a guy in the league who I'd rather be a wing with than Scott and (left wing Markus) Naslund, so I'm excited to see how it turns out," said Drury. "If you're asking me about having Chris Drury on your line, yeah, you have to be excited," Gomez said. "You're getting a world-class player - two of 'em, in fact."

Our View:Drury will see more scoring opportunities here but it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the new role. Obviously, he and Gomez have a lot of mutual admiration for each other which should make this combination work.

The ongoing story of the Sabres' season was the absence of Daniel Briere and Chris Drury, who were lured away by lucrative free agent contracts last summer, notes TSN.ca. Not only was their absence felt in the lineup, but the ensuing exorbitant offer sheet to Thomas Vanek had to be matched because it was bad enough to let two stars walk -- the Sabres couldn't let it be three.

Our View:Given the rest of the Sabres' contractual commitments, it appeared unlikely that they would be able to get defenceman Brian Campbell signed to an extension and, sure enough, he was dealt to San Jose at the deadline. With the Sabres missing the playoffs by four meagre points, it's fair to say that the presence of any one of those dearly departed may have been enough to make the difference.

Chris Drury will likely miss Game 4 against Pittsburgh due to his rib cage injury, according to the NY Daily News. Top penalty-killer Blair Betts is also out with his cheekbone injury, as well as Sean Avery, who suffered a lacerated spleen.

Our View:The Rangers are in trouble as they are on the verge of elimination against Pittsburgh. Drury scored 25 goals over 82 games in the regular season.
April 30, 2008
Chris Drury may have suffered a rib cage injury in Game 3 against Pittsburgh last night, according to the NY Daily News. He sustained the injury late in the first period and was forced out of action.

Our View:Drury scored 58 points in the regular season, and will be missed if he cannot go in Game 4, with New York on the verge of an early exit as they trail Pittsburgh 3-0.
April 17, 2008
Chris Drury chipped in one goal and one assist in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Devils. Those were his first two points of the playoffs.

Our View:Drury is on track following last night's performance, and he should continue to play hard in the playoffs.
March 31, 2008
Chris Drury had an assist and a game-winning power-play goal for the Rangers in their 2-1 victory over the Penguins on Monday. Mr. Clutch now has seven game-winners on the season, and he has been hot with five points in his last three games, though with 24 goals on the year he is almost certain to fail to record 30-goals in his first season in New York after back-to-back 30-goal campaigns coming into the year.
March 27, 2008
Chris Drury notched three assists in the Rangers' 3-2 win over New Jersey on Thursday night. He now has 31 assists and 54 points for the season.
February 17, 2008
Chris Drury scored a goal and added an assist in the Rangers 3-1 victory over the Sharks on Sunday. Drury now has five game-winning goals on the year and he leads the blueshirts with 19 goals including seven in his last nine games. Drury continues to be one of the most clutch performers in the league, and he is just one goal from his eighth 20-goal season in nine years.
