September 18, 2008 Marcus Nilson and the Flames have agreed to a deal that will allow Nilson to play for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL in Russia, according to Our View:The only thing that could stop this from happening would be if another NHL claims Nilson off waivers on September 27th. Given that he wants to leave and has a deal in place, we would be shocked to see another NHL club stand in his way. |

September 11, 2008 Marcus Nilson has not signed a deal to play with CSKA Moscow, but the Flames and the KHL are in discussions to see if there is a way for him to play in Russia this season, according to the Our View:Nilson doesn't appear to have a spot in Calgary after being placed on waivers, and he will have to earn a spot on the roster with a big camp if he chooses to stay. After a season of three goals and five points, it would probably be best for all parties involved if Nilson were able to move on to play in Russia. |

June 26, 2008 Marcus Nilson has been placed on waivers by Calgary, according to Our View:The nine-year vet signed a two-year, $2 million contract extension with the Flames last summer. He chipped in three goals and two assists over 47 games in 2007-08. He won't likely hold any fantasy value with another club next season. |
