Newsbreakers
November 15, 2008
Alex Tanguay scored his eight goal of the year in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Flyers.

Our View:Tanguay now has 17 points in 15 games for the Habs and is a +5 for the year. He's owned in nearly all fantasy leagues.
October 28, 2008
Alex Tanguay scored his sixth goal of the year in the Canadians' 3-2 shootout win on Tuesday night.

Our View:Thanguay has scored six goals in eight games and is leading the team in that category.
October 25, 2008
Alex Tanguay scored two goals in the Canadiens 6-4 loss to the Ducks on Saturday.

Our View:Tanguay must really like playing on Saturdays, because he also scored two goals in a game last Saturday.
October 18, 2008
Alex Tanguay scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Coyotes.

Our View:Tanguay racked up three goals and three assists over the first five games of the season. Tanguay is off to a good start in his bid to rebound from a disappointing 2007 campaign with Calgary.
October 11, 2008
Forward Alex Tanguay picked up four points in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs. He netted a second period goal and added three assists.

Our View:Tanguay shook off a disappointing opener and showed why we were high on him in his new digs. We hope to see more such efforts as he becomes more comfortable with Saku Koivu and the rest of his new teammates.
September 26, 2008
Alex Tanguay is currently dealing with a groin/hip problem, according to the Montreal Gazette. Others also dealing with similar type injuries include Roman Hamerlik, Patrice Brisbois and Gerorge Laraque, though all too figure to be minor in terms of the severity of the injuries.

Our View:The big name to keep an eye on here is obviously Tanguay who is coming off his worst season in years (58 points). With a new lease on life in Monrtreal, odds are in Tanguay's favor that he will return to his 70-point scoring ways and therefore he make a nice draft day target if he fails top be drafted early.
September 25, 2008
Alex Tanguay missed practice on Thursday due to a sore hip flexor according to the AP. The injury is not believed to be serious.

Our View:Tanguay played last season for Calgary and posted 58 points in 78 games. he converted 14.9 percent of his shots into goals.
September 2, 2008
Alex Tanguay is excited about playing for the Canadiens this season, according to the Calgary Sun. He said, "I'm really looking forward to training camp. This is the most mythical hockey team. I feel like a baseball player just traded to the Yankees. Twice last season I asked the Flames to trade me, and Montreal was on my wish list both times."

Our View:Tanguay was not pleased with playing on a checking line in Calgary last season, which reduced him to 58 points over 78 games. He looks to bounce back in Montreal, and should challenge 75 points, making him a viable No. 4 fantasy forward.
June 22, 2008
Add the name of Alex Tanguay to the long list of players who have been involved in disagreements with current Flames head coach Mike Keenan, according to The Gazette. "I've done a lot of thinking since the end of the season and I realize there are things I could have done better on my side," Tanguay said.

Our View:Apparently Tanguay asked GM Darryl Sutter to seek a trade, though he wanted to keep that request on the down low so as not to be a distraction to his teammates. After establishing himself as a 70-point performer, we would expect a happy Tanguay to return to that level in the coming season.
June 20, 2008
Alex Tanguay is now a member of the Montreal Canadiens as he was sent to the Habs in exchange for the 25th overall pick and a second round selection next season, according to TSN.

Our View:Tanguay has one year left on a contract that will pay him $5.25 million, a pretty high price for a player who is coming off a rather unproductive season (18g, 40a) after scoring 79, 78 and 81 points the previous three years.
April 19, 2008
Alex Tanguay has been held without a goal through the first five games of the Flames/Sharks matchup, this according to the Calgary Sun. Also held off the scoreboard has been Kristian Huselius and Craig Conroy.

Our View:Given that three of their top-6 forwards are without a goal, it's not at all surprising that they trail 3 games to 2 in the series. The Flames will look to extend the series to a seventh game with a victory on Sunday.
March 10, 2008
Alex Tanguay had two goals and an assist on Monday night for the Flames. Tanguay averaged 79 points over the past three seasons which makes his current total of 52 points a big time disappointment. With 16 goals on the year, he needs four more for his fifth straight 20-goal season from the left wing.
February 28, 2008

February 23, 2008
Alex Tanguay went 16 games without a goal before a two goal outing in the Flames last game, and on Friday night he scored again, this time the game-winner in the Flames 1-0 victory over the Red Wings. After three straight seasons of at least 78 points, Tanguay has been a big time disappointment with only 49 points in 62 games, a pace that would net him roughly 65 points in a full season.
