Newsbreakers
November 29, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff only needed 17 saves to earn the win on Saturday as he only face 18 shots all night in a 3-1 victory over Vancouver.

Our View:Kiprusoff could certainly benefit from more nights like this, as his goals-allowed-average is over three for the year.
November 27, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 27-of-30 shots in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Canucks.

Our View:Kiprusoff claimed his 13th win of the season, and has only been dealt a loss once in his last five outings.
November 22, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff allowed four goals on 36 shots in a 5-2 loss to Detroit.

Our View:Kiprusoff has struggled a bit this season, as he has a goals-allowed-average over three on the year.
November 22, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff is expected to start Saturday night against Detroit, according to ESPN.

Our View:Kiprusoff picked up his second shutout of the season in his last outing, so the Flames and his fantasy owners can expect him to have some momentum, even against the solid power play of Detroit.
November 20, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped all of the Avalanche's 18 shots in recording a 1-0 win on Thursday night.

Our View:The shutout was Kiprusoff's second of the year and now is 11-7-1 on the year.
November 13, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped just 16 of 20 shots before being pulled after one period in the Flames embarrassing 6-1 loss to the Sharks on Thursday night.

Our View:Kipper has allowed at least four goals in four of his last five starts, and at some point the Flames are simply going to have to turn to Curtis McElhinney more often aren't they? Kiprusoff has been abysmal on the year and there is little sign that he is in line to right the ship anytime soon.
November 11, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff picked up a win Tuesday, but it wasn't easy. He allowed three goals, including two in waning minutes, in a 4-3 win over Toronto.

Our View:Kiprusoff is off to a horrible start this year, as he's allowed three or more goals (22 total) in each of the last five games.
November 9, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff was bombed for six goals on 27 shots on Sunday night to fall to 8-6-1 for the Flames.

Our View:U-G-L-Y. Kipper has allowed 12 goals in his last two starts and 16 in his last three. With a .888 SV% through 15 starts, Kiprusoff has been a huge disappointment, not to mention detriment, to fantasy squads.
November 6, 2008
It certainly wasn't pretty but Miikka Kiprusoff won his eighth game of the year despite giving up six goals on 29 shots in the Flames 7-6 victory over the Predators.

Our View:Amazingly, the Flames led 5-0 in the game before Kiprusoff tried to waste his mates efforts. This was Kippers' seventh victory in nine games, but he continue to have far too many terrible games with six of his 14 appearances resulting in at least four goals against.
November 2, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 34-of-36 shots in Saturday's close 3-2 win over the Kings.

Our View:He has now won six straight starts, allowing two or less goals five times over the span. He shall remain penciled into fantasy lineups as a No. 1 goalie.
November 1, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff is set for his 11th start tonight against the Kings, according to the Calgary Sun.

Our View:He is 6-3-1 with a solid 2.89 goals-against average and should fare well against the 3-5-1 Kings. He is aiming for his sixth straight win.
October 28, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff picked up his first shutout of the season Tuesday, stopping all 22 Colorado shots in a 3-0 win.

Our View:Miikka has been on fire, winning his last four starts while posting a sparkling .955 save percentage over that time.
October 25, 2008
Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff was excellent against the Coyotes, stopping 23-of-24 shots, leading Calgary to a 4-1 win.

Our View:Kiprusoff had struggled up until his last three games, all of which he has won. He should only get better from here on out.
October 22, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 30 of 31 shots as Calgary defeated Washington 2-1 on Tuesday.

Our View:This was Kiprusoff's best performance of the season by far. Entering the game he had a .851 save percentage and a 4.37 GAA.
October 17, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff fell to 1-2-1 on the year after allowing four goals on 35 shots in the Flames loss to the Oilers. This was the first time in his career that he allowed at least four goals in four straight games.

Our View:Kipper's save percentage is .843 on 112 shots, and that is ugly folks. While it might be too early for sheer panic, it might also be time to just flat out admit what seems obvious - Kipper is no longer the goalie he was three years ago when he posted a .923 SV%.
April 20, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff made 21 saves helping the Calgary Flames beat the San Jose Sharks 2-0 on Sunday night to force a Game 7.

Our View:The decisive match Tuesday night will be the first Game 7 the Sharks have hosted in franchise history after playing five on the road.
April 15, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff will start Game 4 against San Jose despite being pulled for poor play in Game 3, according to TSN.ca. Curtis Joseph replaced him Game 4, but will return to the bench to prevent a goalie controversy for Calgary.

Our View:He is a solid goaltender, and should bounce back for Calgary.
April 9, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff deserves a boat-load of credit, making 37 saves on 39 total shots on goal to lead the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 victory in the first game of the playoff series with the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks have skaters and shooters and the Flames, considered heavy underdogs, will need a top performance from this goalie to have a shot. Tonight, he came up huge.
February 25, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff was named the NHL's second star for the week ending February 24th, according to a report in NHL.com. Miikka was 3-0 with a 0.67 GAA, one shutout and a .980 save percentage. This is the goalie that was drafted in the first round in most league's this year. Kipper still has 32 victories on the year, but his .903 save percentage is decidedly sub par for one of the league's best, so hopefully he will be able to ride this recent wave of success through the remainder of the regular season.
February 23, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff had his first shutout of the year as he stopped all 38 shots that the Red Wings threw at him on Friday night. This is the the Kipper that has been MIA most of the year. After 17 shutouts the past two years it's simply amazing that it took him 59 outings this year to garner his first bagel of the year.
February 17, 2008
Miikka Kiprusoff was shelled for four goals on 26 shots on Sunday night as he was lifted for Curtis Joseph after two periods of action. Given the fact that Kipper allowed six goals on 25 shots on Friday night, it's safe to say that he is in a pretty major mini-slump. For what it's worth, Kipper has seen his GAA go up the past three years while his SV% has gone down, and those aren't the kind of trends we like to see.
