Our View:Umberger is available in most fantasy leagues and has really picked it up since the beginning of November. Keep an eye on him.

Our View:Umberger scored just once in his first 34 shots, but Monday's performance should help him bust out of his slump.

"R.J. is such an effective player when he keeps it simple," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "By putting him back in his natural position of left wing for a while we can get it simplified."

Our View:Umberger's impressive performance in last year's playoffs hasn't carried over into this year, as he has just two assists and a minus-5 rating in eight games.

Our View:Umberger should be good to go for the start of the regular season. If healthy, he will challenge rookie Derick Brassard for the spot at center on the first-line. Umberger will begin the year on the second-line.

Our View:Umberger will be a solid fantasy pick, and should get plenty of scoring chances while working at center this season with star Rick Nash on his wing.

R.J. Umberger feels he is up to the challenge of being a front-line center in the NHL, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Coach Ken Hitchcock said, "R.J. is a very driven, very task-oriented player. Nobody expects more out of R.J. than R.J."

Our View:He will move from right wing to center this season with the Blue Jackets, which is his natural position. He is also sure to be a favorite among the fans, as he played hockey at Ohio State. Umberger will be a solid fantasy pick, and should get plenty of scoring chances while working with star Rick Nash.

R.J. Umberger, the presumptive favorite to center the club's first scoring line, opened camp skating on the second line as he was replaced by rookie Derek Brassard, according to the Columbus Post Dispatch.

Our View:This is a big deal. The first line features new acquisition Kristin Huselius and scoring star Rick Nash, so it is the prime spot for any center on the club that wants to rack up the points. We wouldn't be at all surprised to see Umberger on the first line on opening night as we are still really early in camp.

R.J. Umberger has signed a four-year extension with the Blue Jackets, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View:Umberger was quiet in the regular season as he only scored 13 goals with the Flyers, but really got hot in the playoffs as he scored 10 goals over 17 games. He could challenge 20-25 goals with the Blue Jackets in 2008-09 while paired with Rick Nash.

R.J. Umberger has in fact been dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets as had previously been reported, according to the Associated Press. The Flyers received the 19th overall selection and a third rounder this year, while the Jackets also picked up the Flyers fourth round pick from tonights draft.

Our View:Umberger scored only 13 times on the year, but he really stepped up in the playoffs scoring 10 times during the Flyers run. Umberger isn't as talented as Patrick Marleau, another name rumored to have been headed to the Jackets, but if he is teamed with Rick Nash, what defensemen would want to face that physical duo?

Our View:Umberger only scored 13 goals and 37 assists in 2007-08 with Philadelphia and is not an upper-level center, but he would be a sizable upgrade to the position.

Our View:Umberger is coming off his best season as a pro, but the Flyers are set up well with centers. He could see a bump up the depth chart and possibly a shot at more points if he moves to Ottawa.

Our View:Umberger was the breakout performer of these playoffs for the Flyers as he scored 10 times in 17 playoff games. Umberger will be a hot property next year on draft day, and he could easily emerge as a 30-goal scorer after this confidence building post-season.

In what has been an offensive series with more than a few goals scored, the Flyers have enjoyed a surprising surge from young center R.J. Umberger .

Our View:Coming into the semifinal series with Montreal, the fans in Philly expected the usual suspects (namely forwards Mike Richards and Daniel Briere) to carry the load. Instead, Umberger, the Vancouver Canuck's top draft pick (16th overall) from 2001, has been the man in charge. Through four games of competition, Umberger has scored six goals, including two in the Game 2 4-2 win at Montreal and two more in the 4-2 win in Game 4. Meanwhile Briere boasts two goals and an assist in the series while Richards has just one goal and one assist.

Umberger started the post-season on the fourth line, but now he is one of the hottest scorers in the league with seven goals in the playoffs including six goals in his last four games, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "R.J.'s been terrific," coach John Stevens said. "He deserves a lot of credit. He's a man without a home, really. I've moved him all over the place for the good of the team."

Our View:It's not like we are talking about a big time scorer here as Umberger totaled just 13 goals in the regular season, though he is doing his best to channel his inner Dave Lowry this playoff season. Kudos to Umberger.

The Philadelphia Flyers have taken a commanding 3-1 series lead over the top-ranked Montreal Canadiens in their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series, using the effort of center R.J. Umberger to solidify tonight's 4-2 victory.

Our View:Umberger, possibly the hottest player in this year's NHL playoffs, netted two goals in the victory, giving him a whopping six goals for this series.

Philadelphia center R.J. Umberger is reportedly cleared to play and will be on the ice for the Flyers when they face Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, according to the Associated Press. Umberger has missed the last six games for Philly with a sprained left knee but has been practicing with a knee brace and appears to be all set to get back to it. His timing couldn’t be better, touting eight goals and 10 assists in 21 career games against the Pens.

R.J. Umberger, who sprained his knee in Sunday's game, will in fact miss at least two weeks to a sprained knee. The 25-year-old was maturing, and with 49 points in 71 contests so far this year, he will be missed. The Flyers forward benefited with Mike Richards was healthy and with Umberger's expected absence, look for Scott Upshall to return to active duty after being a healthy scratch on Sunday.

Umberger had recorded five assists in five games against Pittsburgh this season. His career numbers against the Pens shows a stat-line of eight goals and 10 assists in 20 games. The centers fantasy value still rests in deep formats.

Umberger is nothing more than a depth play in deep leagues, but he is has already tied his career-high of 38 points in a season while posting a +8, quite a turnaround from last year's (-32) rating.
