Newsbreakers

Michael Ryder scored twice and registered a plus-3 rating as the Bruins crushed the Rangers 7-2 on Friday.

Our View:Ryder fired off five shots in 10 minutes in the effort. Don't count on him to be as productive on most nights. Prior to the game he had converted less than five percent of his 61 shots in 22 games.

Michael Ryder and Marc Savard have yet to show the type of connection the team had hoped they would, according to the Boston Globe. "Savvy's a disher and the other one's a shooter," HC Claude Julien said. "So on paper, it seems to be the perfect mix. But it doesn't necessarily mean that the chemistry exists with those players, even if their strengths work well together

Our View:The team is still hoping that the two guys click. Ryder can't help but improve his scoring if he sticks with Savard, one of the best passers in the game. Hopefully some familiarity with each other will help, so give them a bit of time before you give up on Ryder.

The Boston Bruins are expecting free agent signee Michael Ryder to play on the team's top scoring line while getting plenty of minutes on the power-play, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Ryder was not effective with Montreal last season, getting limited ice time that resulted in just 31 points. With more playing time expected, fantasy owners can be hopeful he bounces back in a big way.

Former Canadiens' forward Michael Ryder has inked a three-year deal with the Bruins worth $12 million, according to TSN.ca.

Our View:Ryder dipped to 14 goals with Montreal in 2007-08, but he reached 30 in each of his previous two campaigns with the club, and will have a good chance to bounce back with a fresh start in Boston.

According to TSN.ca, it's been a tough and challenging year for Habs forward Michael Ryder. Ryder scored 60 goals in the 2005-06 campaign but has slumped since. The forward was a healthy scratch for a fifth straight playoff game Monday.

Our View:Ryder registered just 14 goals in the regular season.
April 23, 2008
Michael Ryder failed to register a point for the Canadiens in the first round and he was only active for four of the seven games against the Bruins.

Our View:Ryder scored 60 goals in 2005-06, but he slumped to just 14 goals this regular season, and those struggles have continued in the playoffs. We still have to think he will make his presence felt at some point, but at this juncture just getting back into the lineup may be a struggle.

Michael Ryder, who sat out the final two regular season games because of a leg injury, will be in the lineup in Game 1, this according to TSN. Ryder will likely skate with Christopher Higgins and Sergei Kostitsyn in place of the injured Saku Koivu. Ryder had a very disappointing season with only 14 goals and 31 points, this after back-to-back 30 goals seasons, but if he can rediscover his lost scoring touch he could help to offset the loss of Koivu from the team's offensive game.

Michael Ryder is out for Thursday action with a leg injury, according to TSN.ca. He has scored 31 points over 70 games this season.

Canadiens right winger Michael Ryder continues to be ignored when the starting lineup is written before the puck drops on game night. Ryder was held out of the lineup for a third straight game. Ryder, who has been a healthy scratch eight times this season, has eight goals and 10 assists in 47 games. The winger has registered at least 30 goals each of the past two seasons and slapped 25 into the back of the net in the 2003-04 campaign, when he a member of the All-Rookie team.

Michael Ryder was a healthy scratch Tuesday for the second consecutive game. Ryder scored at least 55 points each of his first three seasons, including 30 goals the previous two campaigns. But he's struggled a lot this season, mustering just eight goals and 18 points in 47 contests. You'll want to keep him on your bench until he gets back into game action and finds a way to get back on top of his game.
